This is my favorite location here in west Albuquerque and the soft tacos, crunchy tacos, & chicken quesadilla are good and services are very friendly. :)

A run for the border was in order. So drop the Chalupa and read! I grew up on eating TB as a kid in the early 70’s so I still got a soft spot for her in my heart. So from time to time I hit a TB to see what’s new and eat like a kid again. So I went to try some new TB offerings. And I would have made Glen Bell proud! Founder Glen Bell started up much like several other of the big chains with a hot dog stand Bell’s Drive In, in San Bernardino the home of the MCDONALD Brothers who’s started a year later. He almost left the business in 1956 selling his stand, but quickly started another selling hot dogs but this time he added chili dogs. The chili would later morph in to the taco sauce of today. He was one to experiment and soon was selling tacos with his pre– made shells, the first to do so. The tacos took off fast. Soon he was ready for the then named Taco Tia #2 in Barstow. So he promised young Ed Hackbarth that he would eventually lease the stand to him if he would move out to Barstow and run it. Ed took over the stand, and later was to build many more as the founder of DELTACO. The Tacos took off fast and Glen added 3 more in San Bernardino, Redlands, the next 2 years. But when Glen’s partner Ed was not in favor of expanding Taco Tia into Los Angeles, Glen sold him his interest in the restaurants. And about that time he talked John Galardi a friend into venturing out on his own and Glen’s wife Martha Bell, provided a name for the new enterprise, «DERWEINERSCHNITZEL,» and helped John develop the menu. Starting over once again in 1958 Glen partnered up with others to form the ELTACO chain, it was very successful with its flagship in Long beach and 7 more opening within 9 months. But Glen wasn’t satisfied and sold the ELTACO’s to his partners in 1962. He then went on to open the first TACOBELL in Downey. He sold 40 shares for $ 100ea to family and soon was opening more restaurants and in 1969 the shares were split 30000 to 1 as TACOBELL went public. It continued to prosper and grow and by 1978 the store had amassed to a whopping 868. It was at this time that Bell sold the business to PEPSICO who later added PIZZAHUT and KFC to spinoff GLOBALFOODS later to become YUMFOODS a company worth billions.
