Greatest steaks in town! Cheerful and friendly owner! I’m new to the area and The Grill was highly recommended and didn’t disappoint.

Stopped by the grill on Menaul while passing through ABQ. friends told me to try mexican places, but on this particular trip a burger was sounding so good! I took it to Unilocal and ended up here. The food was good. I loved that the burgers were being cooked over mesquite, on an actual grill! Another plus was that the meat seemed like it was fresh ground. It didn’t taste or have the tewture of a frozen, or pre-made patty. The one thing I was really looking forward to in ABQ was a fat slice of fresh green chile… the chie on the burger was chopped, which was just a little let down. the chips and home-made salsa was great, and I loved that I could dress my burger however I wanted! I would for sure go back if ever passing through

Stopped on a road trip from Arizona to Michigan. Great and friendly service. Unlimited salsa and chip bar(both yummy). I got the little rascal and added my own toppings from the fresh topping bar. Burger was delicious and juicy. Upgraded to deep fried mushrooms and they are a must have! Would definitely stop again on a road trip.

One of the best hole in the walls I’ve been to. The prices are slightly higher for the burgers, but are well worth it. They come in 3 sizes: small(the little rascal) 4oz, med(mama) 6 oz and large(papa) 8 oz which is huge. There’s also unlimited tortilla chips and salsa, and as for the toppings it’s all self serve where the chips are. Pretty basic stuff consisting of onions, purple onions, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and a few other things I cannot remember. There’s also ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise as well. I got the little rascal and man it was one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten! The fries are good as well and service was just excellent. Although things are mostly self service, the employees there are helpful and extremely friendly. Highly recommended especially if you’re just passing by. Parking is easy as well as there is a private lot

The service was great. Super friendly! You’re genuinely welcomed the second you come in the door. The food was delicious and the salsa is AMAZING!

Nice place with good burgers. I’ve had better burgers overall, but I did like the fact that you could see fresh patties going on the grill and I could taste the freshness of the grill. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Prices are good but tend to add up with all the additional toppings. Also a huge plus was the free chips and salsa that was available!

Awesome when traveling with finicky kids. Loved that we dressed our own burgers — especially the kid that only eats cheese and pickles, no sauce. Fried zuchinni and cheese — hey, we’re on vacation and we are eating everything! Serve yourself chips and salsa, yes! And awesome service — seriously nice when they use your name after only hearing it one time. And very very clean. This will be my go to place when in ABQ!

Meh. There. I said it. Hubs and I came here today(Saturday) at lunchtime. He got a cheeseburger w/(bland) green chile combo, and I got the kid’s burger combo. The total was almost $ 20.00. Both burgers were waaaay overcoooked. They reminded me of those burgers you get when you go to a family picnic in the park and Uncle Bob’s grilling. You know? The kind that’s okay, but it’s free, and you can eat some of your aunts’ & cousins’ yummy sides & desserts, so it’s not that big a deal if the burger’s not that great. The fries served with the burgers were super skinny and had no salt on them, so by the time I hunted down the salt and sprinkled it on them, they were cold. Do you like cold fries? Me neither. On top of it all, there was a guy playing a guitar and singing the whole time we were there. Did I mention how tiny the dining area was? Too small for live entertainment. That’s how small it was. When we finished eating, hubs looked at me and said, «Well, we had to try it once.» Yep. We tried it. I think once was enough.

OMG a BFS(big **** steak) and BFB(big **** burger) legitimately stake was HUGE and only 20.00 cooked to perfection on mesquite wood on an open grill. Smells like the country and tastes like good ol’ home cooking. Very small location but, the owner told me he as planning on expanding soon. Live music great ambiance. I CANNOT wait to come back. Menu is kinda basic but when you’re so good at a few things why add more? Could’ve asked for more bacon but still the food was so good I didn’t care.

There’s not much I can say that hasn’t been said, BUT the owner told us tonight that they are taking over the Jennifer James 101 space next door and will be renovating it to provide ALL seating in that restaurant space. They’ll either take down the wall between the restaurants or cut a large door/entryway into the JJ101 space. Also prices have increased, not much, but I’m posting a new picture of the menu so people can see the prices. The ribeye is now $ 19.95, but still very good value. Hubby had that and I had the veggie burger. We also shared fried mushrooms and loved everything. It was our first visit, but we’ll be back.

What can I add to the numerous raving reviews about this place?! Its awesome, awesome, awesome! My brother and I went for lunch and were hungry as it was in the afternoon and haven’t eaten brrakfast yet so went and ordered RIBEYESTEAKS. They were grilled to our order. We both had it at medium. We ordered grilled onions and mushrooms on it. The sweetness of the moist grilled onions and the succulence of the grilled mushrooms greatly complemented the meat. For our sides, he had baked potato(butter and sour cream) and for me I had the veggies and beans with tortilla. The steamed veggies tasted crisp and fresh. The beans had a sweet smoky taste to it that went well with the steak. If I would change one thing, I would order the beans on a separate plate. It was served with the steak which soaked up some of the sweet sauce from the beans, rendering the part of the meat touching the beans taste sweet, and not much anything else. The service was casual and very friendly. They asked us if we were local. I guess because we are asians and we looked uncertain coming into the place, unsure if we needed to wait to be seated. Haha! You just seat yourself whereever and place your order in the front, then serve yourself some free chips and salsa from the condiments bar in the center while waiting. You wont be bored waiting as there is plenty to look at. They had alot of interesting and unique vintage stuff hanging on their walls such tools, signs, posters, even guitars. My brother finished his order and I had some leftover to take home. The price is very good too! For a big chunk of steak, it cost around $ 20. At other restaurants, it could easily be priced at $ 30 or so. We cant wait to try their burgers. Next time we definitely won’t be mistaken as asian tourists, but blend in with the locals. ;)

I love being a regular somewhere. I love it so much I am even bfs with the window people at my preferred taco bell location. A magical bond happens when you become a regular where the staff feels like an extension of your family, where you’re not only freaking pumped about eating delicious food, but also seeing people you care about, where the restaurant feels like an extension of your home. That’s the service you receive at The Grill whether or not you’re a regular or a stranger they’ve never met. You feel welcome, you feel at home, you feel great. It’s flipping awesome. The food is something spectacular. They make four things: burgers, steaks, hotdogs, and chicken, which are mesquite grilled literally right in front of you. The menu is simple, pick your poison, pick your size of burger(4oz, 6oz, 8oz), do you want cheese, bacon, chile, if you’re getting a combo you can have fries which comes with the meal or for an additional dollar you can have onion rings or fried mushrooms, and then they get your name and you can help yourself to amazing chips and homemade salsa. It’s simple, it’s fast, it’s flipping awesome. When your food comes up they call out your name and you head to the condiment station. They have the regular ketchup, mustard, mayo, tomato, lettuce, onions, pickles, jalapeños, and relish all laid out and ready for you to make your burger or hot dog whatever it is you could want. Awesome. I’m sick of other people getting to decide how much mayo or onions I want on my burger. I want to decide, me, I want to be in charge of my destiny. The flavor is intense and beautiful and wonderful. It tastes like summer. It tastes like those burgers you literally wait all year for to maybe get one or two of. It tastes like pure simplified happiness. The fries are crispy, yellow, and perfect. It is literally everything I could want in a burger combo for a little more than $ 8. How much more perfect could it get? I can’t wait to get back to my new found burger heaven.

Great food. Service was great. I had the chicken with green chiles in a tortilla. I was impressed by the friendliness and speed of service. Only downside was the calendar in the men’s bathroom(picture attached) is from 2015. I would love some current calendars. Thanks to the staff for a nice visit and a good meal while on a road trip

I love hole in the wall food spots. This place doesn’t disappoint. It’s off a busy street so you might get drive by and miss it. There isn’t much seating, but the décor is classic. The cashier was very helpful as this was our first time here. We ordered two mama burger(6oz) combos and a papa burger(8oz) combo. They grill them fresh on a mesquite grill with the flame burning brightly. I wish I would have ordered the rib eye, but it was 16 oz and that would have been much though the ones that came out looked and smelled great. We decided to split a piece of chocolate cake and the cashier said it was very good. And boy she wasn’t lying. She cut us a piece that could feed 4 – 5 people. Chocolate overload in a great way. My diet has been shot for this week. Better do some squats to counter the dessert. Oh and I can’t forget the free chips and salsa. Overall great food and great service and would love to come back again soon.

You don’t even have to walk in the door to smell the grilled goodness. Like the aroma of a backyard grill, only juicier. When you do walk in though, especially at lunch time, the tables are packed. That’s OK, they do everything they can to get your order taken quickly. They even threw my Patty on the grill before I actually ordered. Grab some free chips and salsa while you wait a few minutes for your food to come out. After receiving your grilled goodness head to the condiment bar and load up. If you can find a table its time to settle in and enjoy one of the juiciest burgers you can get. True, you’ll pay more than other places, but those other places won’t be near as satisfying. The burger makes this place awesome, the service makes this place memorable.

This place is a MUSTTRY for everyone in Albuquerque. Have been in to The Grill about 7 times and it have been delicious each and every time. The owner is friendly and appreciates each any every one of his customers. He can not wait for you to try his home made salsa. I know what you are thinking, salsa in a burger joint? But it is one of the best salsas in ABQ, and it’s free while you wait for your burger. We have taken the pint of salsa to go sever times because we cannot get enough. So while you are sitting down, eating your complimentary salsa you can smell your burger cooking. The grill sizzles with anticipation while your taste buds dance around in anticipation of the meal you are about the enjoy. Then they call your name and you can fix your burger just the way you like it with plenty of fresh toppings. The you take your first bite. And I promise that you will tell yourself«this is one of the best burgers I have ever tasted». It is truly a masterpiece. The burger is complimented with crispy fries, but I prefer to pair it with the fried mushrooms instead of fries. As you dip each one in the ranch you will shockingly look down to see only one left as you could not pop then in your mouth quick enough. I am not a steak person but so many people have said this has the best hands down. Better than compared to any steakhouse in town. Might be worth a try. Go here. Eat here. You will not regret it.

There are so few times that Unilocal fails me, it comes as a real surprise on those rare occasions it happens. This was definitely one of those times. Maybe our mistake was ordering the ribeye rather than a burger. But — it does seem there are plenty of reviews lauding those as well. Just can’t understand it. The only thing I really agree with is that the guy working the counter was very nice. I didn’t really have any expectations, having never been before, but the ramshackle place we walked into was — weird. Also pretty darn cold. It’s interesting, lots of stuff on the walls and plenty to look at, but — it’s like someone threw it together in 1977 and never looked back. Could not have been more surprised that their single steak offering was $ 20. But the dude at the counter insisted it was the best in town, so what the hell — little weird places like this are sometimes truly wonderful. This one was not. I somehow expected that when I ordered mushrooms on my steak, they would be fresh, not canned. Ew. It should be illegal to can mushrooms in the first place, but using them in place of fresh mushrooms to «augment» other food is just criminal. The steak had an extremely weird texture. My mom thought maybe it had been over-marinated. I just thought maybe it was really old meat. In any case — not good. The baked potato was nothing special and came with two delightful tubs of butter and sour cream. Had to seek out salt. Blah seems to overstate the experience. I had been wanting to try this place since we moved here, and it seemed like a good idea to go now that I have so little time left in this amazing town. Turns out it was just a mistake to try the steak. Not sure at all what the high ratings are about. Totally possible i just had an outlier negative experience, but negative it was indeed. Only giving the second star cause the dude at the counter was nice, helpful and kind. Give it a try if you feel the urge — hope your experience is more like others on here. But if not — don’t say I didn’t warn ya!

Let me preface by saying that from the time I walked into this restaurant to the time I walked out, the service was impeccable. We were greeted with warm, welcoming smiles. The cashier asked if that was our first time there, to which we replied yes. She gave us a rundown of the menu and gave us a few minutes to make our decisions. I ordered a cheeseburger and upgraded to mozzarella sticks. While we waited for our food, they had self serve chips and salsa. I loved that this place has a veggie bar where you can put your own veggies and condiments on your food! Definitely a plus for me as I like an ungodly amount of tomatoes on my burgers. Anyhow, I just was not at all impressed with any of the food. The mozzarella sticks had a weird, doughy breading. The cheese didn’t make that stringy effect when you took a bite as often seen with mozzarella sticks. The burger was overcooked and lacked flavor. I was so disappointed as the service was great, the ambience and décor was once of a kind, but the food just didn’t do it for me in any way, shape or form. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing? Despite my dissatisfaction, again, I was highly impressed with the service. So, I want to give this place another try and hope I’m not disappointed. I love supporting business that genuinely care about their customers. Maybe I went on an off day? Whatever the case, I plan on returning and trying something different.

I have driven past this place a 100 times, I wish I would have stopped sooner! I knew I was going to like The Grill as soon as I walked in and saw the US Navy memorabilia(I am a Navy Veteran). We were greeted right away by the young kid working the register. My husband and I both ordered burgers(a Papa and a Mama). I added green chile and he added bacon. I was able to substitute fries for the zucchini fries at no extra charge. I was very impressed when I saw the cook actually making my hamburger pattie, definitely not a frozen burger. They have a relish bar for your burger toppings and free chips and salsa. The salsa was garden fresh and I loved it. I could eat it with a spoon like a soup. Our burgers were AMAZING! They give you the feel of a backyard BBQ. They are obviously a big supporter of the military and first responders based on the décor. That makes me even a bigger fan. I can’t wait to go back! Do yourself a favor and go to The Grill on Menaul, you won’t regret it.

The people here are so friendly and welcoming, it was like walking into a family member’s home for lunch. Ordering here was a bit strange– the menu is printed and hanging on the wall, or there are copies on the counter. You order at the counter, then they call your name when it’s ready. There is a small dining room as well as a patio outside. I had fried mushrooms, a cheeseburger, and fries. The fried mushrooms were cooked well, and tasted ok. They weren’t the best fried mushrooms I have had, but definitely not the worst. My burger was cooked well, but I was disappointed in it. Everywhere you look in this place, they boast of mesquite grilled food. My burger was really lacking that mesquite taste, which made me sad. The fries were precut, and of the thin variety… And not remotely impressive. I was hoping for some delicious, handcut fries but it was not to be. The prices were a bit high IMO, it was over $ 30 for two burgers, drinks, fries, and my mushrooms. All in all… I wanted to love it, but I just don’t feel like this place is the one for me. I really wish it were because the people are so darn nice!
