If service is bad, it makes the whole experience unpleasant. Waitress was rude and argumentative.

We went during lunch, and luckily it was pretty empty so we got the pool room to ourselves to watch the game. I have to say, it was great service, the food was good, and they even charged our phones for us! I would recommend the 1⁄3 lb. green chile burger and the habanero garlic wings!

I have been to Uptown 5ish times and have only seen it busy once: for the Patriots vs. Steelers opening game. Even at that the place was not packed, still room to walk around comfortably and still able to receive pretty good service. There was a point in the night where we lost our waitress for about an hour due to another customer buying a round for all active military in the restaurant(which was AWESOME!), so we couldn’t blame her. The Unilocal deal was not honored for us, even though we showed the waitress. She did not know how to do it and may have forgotten about it by the end. Other than those mishaps, the waitress was sweet and patient with our huge table and split checks. Pretty good normal bar food. Loaded nachos, jalapeño poppers, burgers, and salads. I wouldn’t come here just to have a meal without a game to watch. There are TV’s and projectors all over the walls which is great. Really not a bad seat in the house, you can definitely see from every angle. I think you’ll be surprised with the size of this place: it’s huge!

Terrible service and very rude! The food is just ok and not worth it! The worst part is that management does not care when you let them know!

Uptown Sports Bar & Grill is the perfect place to go for those big televised games. Whether you are wanting to watch the World Cup, the NCAA College Playoffs, or March Madness, this is my favorite venue in ABQ. They have a handful of large projection screens and a dozen LED TVs. The tiered floor design allows for everyone to have a good view of at least one TV screen unobstructed. It’s also nice and airy so you don’t feel crammed. Just be advised, during large events it can take a while to get your check once the game ends.

Though the food was tasty and bar selection acceptable. It lacked a few import beers desired. The restaurant is so large and open it’s uncomfortable. We wanted cozy, this was not. Thanks for reading. The Bike Chaplain

This has been a go-to of mine for a while now and I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad experience. Great selection of beers on tap and a full bar. Food is also always very good as well. Staff is friendly and attentive. Overall a wonderful place to go.

If your looking for a place too drink and watch sports this is the place to go. If your looking for good food go elsewhere. I tried the TKO burger, which supposedly won 1st place at the 2010 state fair. I feel this is only possible if it was the only entry, this burger was bland at best. House cut fries are always a bonus, and the reason for the two star rating.

INVESTIN A SOUNDSYSTEM! Tried this place again and it didn’t seem bad at the beginning. Waitress was a doll, but the crackle coming out of their ten-cent speakers was unbearable. I don’t mind loud music, but if you are going to turn up the volume, make sure your speakers can handle it!

The service was mediocre. Watery cocktails. Watery queso dip for our nachos. Worst of all, though, the music was turned up ridiculously loud… on a Tuesday… with only like ten people in the bar.

If you like beer and entertainment this is the place for you. This bar has great food, some healthy, some fried, some cheap some pricey, this place will have something for everybody. They have excellent jalapeño poppers which are notoriously spicy they are baked not fried which come with a special sauce. They have pool tables that you can rent. They also have dartboards to play games with and tons of TVs. They show fights which will have a cover charge at the door but they also always show all the football games constantly going around the entire restaurant on projectors and TVs of all different sizes. They have local and foreign beers with a great selection for gluten-free with also a full bar if beer is not your forte. They cater for parties as well as events. They also go to the local do Duke city derby events and sell their beer.

Never did get around to reviewing this one, it’s been awhile since I did my check in and my Unilocal app doesn’t notify me when I haven’t reviewed somewhere I checked in. There’s not much to say, we sat at a table for about 15 minutes and no one came to help us. We had to sit outside because we had brought our dog, but apparently no one cares to check the tables outside so we should have just brought our dog inside with us. I won’t try again.

Uptown is a fairly straightforward sports bar: lots of large TVs, daily drink specials, dart boards and pool tables, etc. Uptown’s food is above average for a sports bar — their wings are especially good. I think that this is because they share a kitchen with the upscale bar next door(same owners, I believe). A small gripe is that Uptown’s large projection TVs are dimmer than HD plasma or LCD TVs. You adjust to this quickly, but I’m pretty sure that I tend to go to other bars to watch sports because of it. Pro tip: there is a longstanding $ 10 for $ 20 Unilocal deal available. It’s pretty rare to be able to basically get two free microbrews at a sports bar just for walking in and showing them your cell phone.

This bar is absolutely comfortable and beautiful. We played darts, which are free, and hung out for a couple of hours. My friend’s and I went on a Saturday night and it was PACKED with 1 bartender and 1 waitress to begin with(a 2nd one came later). Needless to say it took a long time to order and to get our food and drinks. The bartender was excellent, but, given the situation, had to take things slowly. We got the chile con queso and also the dip trio(queso, guacamole, and salsa). While these were tasty and the prices seemed really cheap the portions of the sauces were tiny. They’re literally served in the small plastic condiment cups that you get at fast food restaurants. I would have preferred a higher price and portions that were significantly larger. This would be a great place if they properly staffed it and fixed their portion sizes.

This place is your typical sports bar with a huge bar and lots of tvs. They also have a ton of tables to sit at as well. They usually have a few drink specials going on every night which is nice. The bartenders do a good job, although they were a bit confused when I showed them my Unilocal check in deal. A good place to come have a drink and watch a game in Uptown.

I went on a Wednesday night and they weren’t busy at all, they only seemed to have 2 waitresses covering the whole place, but our waitress was still very attentive and did a good job. They did mess up my order a little bit but had no issue fixing it promptly. I had the bacon wrapped jalapeños for an appetizer and they were awesome. For the main course I had the New Mexico Philly, I don’t know if I’m just immune to the spiceyness these days but the green chilly was weak and the sandwich was kind of meh, especially for 11 bucks. The standard fries it came with were pretty decent, I also got curly fries(what they messed up on my order) and those were kinda lame. The waitress said it was cause the curly fries were frozen and the regular fries, in addition to most everything else on the menu were fresh. Bottom line: The bacon wrapped jalapeños are awesome, the beer selection and waitress were good(she had no problem switching one of the many tvs for us) but the New Mexico Philly wasn’t worth it’s price.

The trials and tribulations of the parent who considers dining in Uptown Albuquerque are daunting for several reasons. Pop open your Unilocal app and check the«nearby» restaurant options and you’ll come up with two options: franchise and local. If you’re a seasoned visitor, you’ll be dismayed by the chains, for sure; California Pizza Kitchen, Bravo!, Buca di Beppo, Macaroni Grill, BJ’s, Pei Wei, The Melting Pot… honestly, you’ll be dropping a lot of cash for safely boring eats. Local shops are tough to come by: Mario’s, Thai Cuisine Express, Marcello’s, some decent options but hardly great for the dad who wants to grab a beer and a bite while the toddler smiles at her plate. Look, I’ve scoured the territory. For my dollar and time, Uptown Sports Bar qualifies as a great spot. This massive property, cursed by previous restaurant owners(O’Niell’s, Zia) as impossible to make profitable, generally delivers a good time. First off, the kiddos have some great options here. There’s no kids menu, but you can order mac ‘n cheese and green beans for about six bucks, fulfilling your food pyramid responsibilities, and the mac is freaking solid. Parents can dig on a bar menu of sammies, burgers and a few salads that absolutely suffice. Servers are generally attentive and– while they fit the cutesy busty smiley sports bar demographic– they’re not Los Ojos. They’re pretty cool, actually. At the moment, come here for the Unilocal deals. You can get a check-in discount on a 22-ounce brew(don’t drink the beer from the neighboring brew pub, just don’t, go for an unusual tap) and include the $ 10 discount on your meal, it’s well worth the cost. One note to management: time for a men’s room remodel. One soap dispenser, no hand towels, it looks like the frat party you just threw. Otherwise, pretty cool. Lots of TVs, good/great music, good times.

Okay, granted that my first and only trip here was on a crazy night with everyone viewing the first of the last 8 episodes of Breaking Bad, hanging with my Unilocal bretheren. The place was packed. But the management knew this was going to happen. They were warned about the number of people coming. They invited it. So to have 2 bartenders serving about 50 people at the bar and a couple hundred more at the tables was just stupid. On the up side, the wait staff was working hard and doing a good job, and there were a large number of tv screens so watching was easy. Also, they had a good beer selection and reasonable prices on it. I didn’t eat, but the food looked good. I’ll give it another shot at a more normal time and see how it goes.

This rating is based on a super slow Sunday night where it was easy to have quick service, food was definitely made fresh, and the place wasn’t too noisy or crazy. We actually just came in to grab a bite since we had never been and someone recommended it. I will say they don’t have a huge menu selection, but the two things we ordered must be top faves, cause they were excellent. I had the Cubano — pork carnitas marinaded in a sweet and spicy sauce, smoked ham, melted Swiss cheese, spicy mustard and pickle. It truly had every aspect I was looking for. The flavors balanced each other out very nicely, the bread was a terrific texture and also not too thick or thin… Just enough. The juiciness from the pork sets into the bread nicely, but also isn’t too wet to create a soggy problem. Aaron ordered the New Mexico Philly — chopped top sirloin, peppers and onions, loaded with queso and green chile. He actually got the chile on the side so we could see how it was first. This was truly a great sandwich. I couldn’t decide which one I liked more. The red peppers really added something, and again, the bread it was on was great. The meat was juicy, and just exactly what you’d want or expect from a Philly. There was a bit of a bite to it from the queso, but for all you locals, you could say there was practically no heat lol. The green chile was the only thing I would say was a disappointment. It wasn’t spicy at all. Very bland. The French fries that came with were standard. Nothing wrong with them but also nothing special. I had a little side salad with my entrée and it was very good. I liked that it was a little different than the typical iceberg shredded cheddar cucumber croutons type. It had character. Mushrooms, onion, feta, tomatoes. Mmm. I wasn’t expecting to like the food as much, or for the uniqueness of the ingredients. I liked the flavors and combinations they thought up for their menu. So as fun as it is for the bar aspect, the food really isn’t too shabby either. They have some pool tables, darts, big tvs everywhere. I dug it. The manager came to check on us(lol well were like one of 10 people in there haha) but I thought that was nice. He asked if our waiter was taking good care of us, we said yes, he said good cause otherwise he’d have to kick his ass. Lol it is definitely not known for its professionalism or classiness, but it’s a bar, that makes sense. So I actually liked the whole vibe of the place. Again, had this been a really busy night, things could have been different. So I say if you’re going to try the food and not for the social part necessarily, a lame Sunday is perfectly fine.
