Whitt’s is a good, not unique, bbq restaurant. It’s not a bbq stand, or bbq joint. It is a counter served sit down restaurant. It’s a nice clean place with plenty of space even though I’ve never seen it crowded. There are so many differences in bbq and in individual’s taste for the stuff that it is hard to rate. The food is well prepared and tasty if you like a Carolina style vinegar method of preparation. The sides are standard mac’n cheese, green beans, slaw, and cornbread. All pretty good, but again the vinegar slaw can sometimes be too much. The cornbread is what my grandmother called Yankee cornbread. It’s made sweat and reminds me of yellow cake. Nothing seems very homemade. It doesn’t have that lot-a-love feel that you get from Bread of Heaven or even Full Service. I’m not sure, but this may be a chain. It feels that way… Give it a try. Not bad overall, just doesn’t make the cut for local authentic bbq.
