The ribs is really great. We always stop by here when we go to winery. However, the lines can be so ridiculous. Last time we spend more than an our staying in the line under a sun with 100+ degrees outside. Not fun! And in the end turned out that they sold out of the ribs, so we had to take what ever left — ribs tights. Can not say that it was worth staying in the line. Just ok. But if you had a chance to grab their ribs, then you are lucky. Its so good.

Amazing BBQ but the wait is sssoooo long! It’s like they’ve never served before and every order takes a minimum of 10mins just to put it in a container. So if more than 4 – 5 people are already in line there is no point in waiting 45mins just to get simple BBQ in a container.

Great ribs, good people! Expect a large line, go early(before 1pm) or they’ll sell out on all the good stuff.

About a 1 – 1.5: The Pit Stop is owned by Ronnie Thomas, and this BBQ stand can be found at Gilbert’s Corner in Aldie on the weekends. The menu offers items such as ribs, chicken, chopped pork sandwiches, smoked chicken salad, chopped pork, and sides such as old-fashioned kale, baked beans, and coleslaw. Sauces include plain, mild BBQ, or hot BBQ. The hubs and I stopped by to check them out on a weekend, and walking up to the stand, you can smell the pit cooking up some meats. When it was our turn to order, we were super disappointed that the only item that was available were the chopped pork sandwich and the sides — the ribs and the chicken wouldn’t be available until after 11AM T____T There wasn’t any notice or sign, and it was a little annoying that this was never mentioned, especially when they post on their page that their hours begin at 10AM. We ended up order the chopped pork sandwich, where it was not allowed to get the sauce on the side(but comes already dressed in it) — we opted for the hot BBQ sauce. You can also opt to have the sandwich come with coleslaw, which we accepted. While I appreciated that they used Martin’s buns, the chopped pork itself was super wet with its liquid. The hot BBQ sauce was not tasty at all, and while it had a kick to it, it was just not a good complement to the pork. The slaw, while creamy, was also super wet and formulated extra liquid on the already-wet pork. A long table with 6 chairs is available to dine at the location. I’m glad I was finally able to try out The Pit Stop, but won’t go back. +overly wet chopped pork T___T +not-so-tasty BBQ sauce T___T +ribs and chicken not served until after 11AM T___T +located at Gilbert’s Corner

I am not a huge BBQ fan as it is, so I won’t review that. But I will talk about the CHICKENSALAD and the KALE!!! I don’t even want to eat any other chicken salad after having this. There is no mayo in it and it has a sweet flavor to it… so GOOD. The kale… wow, it was the first time I have ever had greens I liked. They had a nice heat to them that I just want to keep on tasting! Worth the wait in my opinion.

The smoking is moderately good and the folks are friendly and cordial and for a stop place in a gravel parking lot you can’t ask for much. A huge short coming are both the slow, I meal super slow, ordering process. And the BBQ sauces can be better. Having tasted BBQ in MO, KS, OK, TX and a wonderful hickory flavor place in Chicago this is a good place, but not great. In the middle of nowhere Aldie, VA can’t ask for more.

Friendly family owned business. Never disappointed. Ribs are meaty. The chicken salad is rich, something to savior. Beans and Cole slaw are perfect addition to the meat. Don’t show up late and expect to get everything you want.

Make sure to check their Facebook page before making it all the way out to Aldie. My boyfriend and I came to enjoy some good BBQ but, to our surprise, no one was at the location… Except other fellow hopeful customers who came to try the BBQ. All of us were confused and turned back around. On their Facebook page they said that they didn’t open today due to high winds. Therefore make sure to check before coming. We were so disappointed because so many of our friends raved about this place. I will update my review after trying their food.

It’s okay. Nothing special. The ribs are certainly not ‘falls off the bone’. Not sure if they slow cook the ribs. The sauce is good. Chicken has a gasoline taste. They are not marinated well at all. It’s a hype. Go to Jules in leesburg. Waaaay better.

Homemade BBQ and super fantastic costumer service awards my 5 star approval! Try it… I enjoyed the ribs, beans, and corn bread! I also sampled the chicken but wasn’t a fan… I am all about the ribs. I will take the lines any day for their ribs.

On our way to the Salamander resort, we saw this place along the side of the road. The line can get long but well worth the wait. Definitely dont miss a chance to eat here!

This joint is definitely in the middle of nowhere because I can never get service to check in when I’m there. Hands down the best rib joint in the 200-mile radius. I love their spicy ribs and whatever sauce they create for it is magic! It’s got heat, with tangy, sweet, and savory undertones. They are only open on weekends and their ribs sell quick so you better get in line and make your pit stop!

Love me some Pit Stop! Usually the line gets super long early in the day so make sure you stop by as early as possible — we have waited upwards of 45 minutes to get to the table, only to find out that they were out of what we wanted(pulled pork — it goes fast!). Luckily the rib tips are excellent, as is the fried chicken wings when they have them. I also stop by to grab a jar of sauce when I get a chance — it’s pretty delicious. It seems most people go for the pulled pork but, as an experienced BBQ-ette, I think it’s just okay. If you have it on the bun with slaw and some sauce it’s a freakin homerun… by itself, not so much.

This little gym is literally just a pop n son spot on the road that people come from miles around to get good food and watch and listen to their crazy banter! Great guys, great food and great people to chat with while waiting for the bbq!

Yum, yum, yum! We ordered a full rack, whole chicken, baked beans and corn bread. It was by far, the best barbecue around. The ribs are amazing. We had to wait, but no longer than we would have at a restaurant. My family was pretty annoyed when we pulled up to this roadside stop. They got even angrier as we waited in line. But they thanked me after we ate.

I’m no longer a Pit Stop virgin. I waited in line with my wife and son for 30 min and another 30 minutes while she waited inside the AC filled car so my son could take his daily nap. The wait was worth sitting out in the sun!!! Honestly I would wait longer to taste their bbq all over again. I ordered two sides of beans and kale. Both were pretty good but not worth another adjective to describe the two. We finished off our order with a whole chicken(20 dollars) and a full slab of ribs for(20 dollars). Both were so delicious and were packed with smokey but sweet flavor. They were so moist and and the guys manning the pit allow the quality of their meat and pit bbq to shine through(others hide their meat behind way too much sauce). Their use of smoke and dry rub and sauces(got two spicy sauce/on th side… I’m a chili head and the sauce actually had me sweating). We can’t wait to go again. Hopefully this time they will have the rib ends(???) and the pulled pork. We love it and can’t wait to go back!

Ribs are fantastic here. I’d say better than Willards. I hate the inefficient of ordering service. They forgot my sauces so I knock a star. Everything is to go order so ordering ahead allows u to skip the lines! I got here @ 11:25, 4 people ahead of me & got out @ 12:05. I tried the chicken salad — it’s ok, not the best. Full rack of ribs. Awesomely cooked 5 people working: 1 cooking & wrapping up. 1 taking orders 1 cooking sides 2 smoking cigarettes & watching grill smoker & closing the lid. Did anyone see a running water or sanitizer? Also, parents need to stop bringing kids around the cooking area. It’s not cool nor interesting. It’s hot & smoky, & dangerous back there & everyone stops working cause they have to chase them out.

Been coming to this outdoor rib stop when i have a hankering for ribs, every so often for the past couple years… so lucky to have it not far from home. So so good, always get sauce on the side, so not to saturate the yummy dry rib flavor… ribs are juicy without the sauce… The smoked chicken is also delish, but i come back over and over again for the ribs.

We waited 30 minutes in a parking lot with no shade, during a heat wave, for these ribs. And we were pretty dehydrated from hiking that morning. That combination of conditions really makes it difficult to enjoy heavy food, like BBQ. And somehow we still left here happy. That’s pretty amazing in my mind. I’m glad we stuck around to try the ribs, but if you only order one thing here(or if it’s the only thing ready to go and you aren’t masochistic), get the smoked chicken. It was falling off the bone tender, with a spicy BBQ sauce that was the perfect combination of tangy, spicy, and sweet. And throw in a side of their kale, cooked down with ham and(I’m guessing) some apple cider vinegar; it’s like collard greens, but with more texture. Two tips: 1) Call in your order ahead of time. We noticed that a lot of other people had done this. Smart move. 2) Come early. We didn’t get to try the chopped pork, coleslaw, potato salad, or baked beans, because they had already sold out of all of them! And we got the last of the kale at 2PM.

I’ve had BBQ everywhere and this place TOPSTHEMALL! What makes this place unique is the Smoked Chicken. If I had 1 order of BBQ left in me, I’d choose that. Heck I was there this past weekend and the line had about 20 people at 2:30pm. They ran out of Smoked Chicken and most of the people in the line left. It’s THATGOOD. They start smoking their BBQ very early in the morning and do Smoked Chicken, Ribs(Half/Full), Pulled Pork and other sides. All prices are pretty reasonable too. Very Important to Note: They run out of the smoked chicken usually by 2pm. If you want to make sure you get some since you’re probably going to be driving far to get here, I’d recommend getting there by NOON latest. Every time I go, I usually want to get 2 whole chickens so I can eat some there and have some leftovers for work. Don’t microwave the chicken in your office microwave as your coworkers might get jealous lol. When we saw is a line of people waiting to get BBQ in the middle of nowhere, that’s why we knew we had to stop. Since it’s so far though, we usually combine a trip to Shenandoah National Park with the BBQ after.
