They’re open for dinner! Friend and I went in, bought pizza and baked pasta, it was GREAT! Love love love this place

This place was amazing! We came in Thursday and wanted something quick and close to our hotel and we were not disappointed! We walked in, were greeted with a warm welcome right away and our delicious food was served in no time. I had the four cheese pizza, and my husband had a pepperoni calzone — both were phenomenal and more than enough to eat! The fresh salads looked amazing too, definitely will be back here on our next visit!

We had a sub and a pizza, sub was good, but the pizza was another story. The pizza flavor was good, but we ordered a Hawaiian style pizza and there was no ham on it and only 6 chunks of pineapple. And to top it all off, the customer service was terrible.

I’ve been to Bruscatos several times after working out at Sport and Health across the street. The last time I went for dinner (take out) was on 3÷18÷15.
This is one of those reviews that is hard for me to write. I feel like Bruscatos is a solid 2.5 stars for me.
Bruscatos is not great but it is not that bad either. I usually get one of their vegetarian friendly options like pasta or an eggplant sub to go. I always feel full after I finish a meal from Bruscatos.
However like the other Unilocalers have commented I don’t feel like this is the best Italian food I’ve ever had.
It feels more like Italian food of Olive Garden quality (minus the long lines to get a table).
The food will fill you up (and after a long work out that always feels great to me) but it overall it is forgettable.

My wonderful friend just had lunch delivered to me from this place for my birthday. She spent $ 52 for a pizza that was ok, a chicken salad where the chicken was so hard and dry and cookies and brownies that would break your tooth. Also Lentil soup, mozzarella salad and cheesecake. I called to report that some of the food was not good and the owner said I’m sorry I’ll give you free cookies next time. «ARE YOU KIDDING ME???» It wasn’t about a few free cookies, it was about an unsatisfied customer who will now tell many more about this experience.

There is so little good Italian fast food in DC — Bruscatos is the exception! It is an island of awesome in a sea of mediocre. Try the pasta salad or the meatball sub. Or, have them cater for a meeting.

Such FRESH ingredients on any menu item you get! Proscuitto panini, Chicken Parm, Gorgonzola salad, pizza– you can’t go wrong. I go here for lunches during the work week as much as possible.

Italian subs and salads are good. Subs are served on good Italian bread with quality ingredients. The standout for me is the meatball sub. Fresh and hot with tons of melted cheese.

Food was mediocre. I ordered an Italian sub. id call it on par with subway, but not deli quality. Low rating was due to customer service or lack there of. I live close by, so was hopeful this place would be decent. I won’t be returning.

We’ve went in a couple times to pick up a pizza. They are generally good (not great) with several interesting options. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Very good food. I work down the street from this place and have gone about once a week for about 5 years. The Chicken Parmigiana, Eggplant Parmigiana, and Italian Sub Sandwiches are awesome. Their soups change from day to day but are also really good. The meatball sub is good, but not awesome. There are 3 versions of the Italian Sandwiches I think the Italian 2 is the best. I am not really a salad person, but my coworkers love the options and the freshness of the salads as well. The marinara sauce and bread I think is really what makes this place. The only negative thing I have to say is that they close at 3:00pm which prevents me from getting diner take out from here.

Had the Bentley salad and the tomato bisque. Salad was made with fresh ingredients and tasted pretty good. The bisque was delicious. Plenty of salad options — made to order. They have subs, sandwiches and wraps too but I didn’t try them.
I am pleased and would come back.
Portions were good sized. I left feeling full.
Soup and salad came to just under $ 14.

I eat here all the time and it is great. I wanted to get on and give a review of the lasagna special. It was recommended to me yesterday by the woman running the cash register (owner?). IT WAS PHENOMENAL.
That is all.

The bread at this place is awesome! Got the tomato, basil, mozzarella. The mozzarella was really good and plentfiul. However, there was hardly any tomato on it… two dinky slices. Could’ve used more olive oil too. Come on people!

Have been getting lunch from here over the years. Lately, it has been very disappointing. Lack of customer service and food just not prepared well. Hamburgers (thin patty that is dark and leathery on outside but still red in the middle? how is that possible? rushed cooking I guess) with barely a dot of condiments and one little piece of onion. Same for subs — they just don’t put the sauce/oil&vinegar etc. on like they should.
Used to be much better. Wondering if change of management in the past year or so? The staff needs some customer service and just food preparation basic training.

Their food is not authentic italian whatsoever but will do in a pinch for a quick, convenient lunch. Their salads are good with big portions, the pasta is okay but bland due to a poor quality of sauce. Stay away from their pizza, it is gross. I have never had a sandwich but hear that they are decent but nothing amazing.

I am so sad to end up not being a fan of this place. We ordered food delivery last saturday night.
First, the food was cold. My garlic olive oil pasta had no flavor. I have to pull out my salt and pepper shakers to make it edible. My husband ordered the caprese and there were only three tomato slices. One of them was green. Really, come-​on? The tiramisu was dull. Oh, and they didn’t even give us some bread with our order. Seriously, people, don’t waste your money. There are lots of places in old town that are better. Sorry, Bruscatos. I really wanted to like you.

If you’re going to close at 3pm either put a «closed» sign on the door or lock it. Don’t snap at me like I’m some kind of intruder when I come in the door and there’s no indication you’re closed. Geez. I’ll certainly never come back. There are just too many restaurant choices in Old Town to put up that kind of treatment. Besides your food not that great anyway.

I have been eating here since 1998. I love the food and service is awesome. They give big portions and the price is just right! You pay what you get for, great food.
I have used them several times for work and personal functions and have never had any complaints.

This place is a phenomenal lunch spot in a place devoid of options. The sandwiches are great; I particularly like their cold cuts and their tomato mozzarella sandwiches.
In the summer, I really enjoy their gazpacho; it is waterier and cucumberier than typical gazpacho, but it is solid none the less. Their pasta salads, particularly their pesto pasta salad, are also quite good, and I really do not like pasta salad.
Their pizzas are pretty good, though I find them a bit too cheesy. Really, it is hard to go wrong here. It is pricier than many lunch spots, but it is worth the extra couple of bucks.
