This place rules. We ordered during a power outage and didn’t have many other options. So glad we took a chance. Empanadas are killer and my wife(Peruvian) enjoyed the chicken. Authentic ahi verde(green hot salsa) and I definitely recommend the Peruvian chicken sandwich. There’s a reason why they have four stars here on Unilocal

I came to check out the Peruvian chicken since I’ve heard so many good things. It was such a good decision the chicken and yucca fries were perfect and their yellow sauce was delicious. I highly recommend this location I will be telling my friends about it for sure!

Chicken is pretty good. I mostly got take out on my lunch break. When i finally dined in to eat it got a lil suspect. I looked around I probably saw atleat 10 roaches on the floor alive just chillin. This spot used to be J & J seafood carryout. I had stopped eating there cause i saw too many roaches. Nice to see things haven’t changed. Would be a good 5 star if I had never seen all them roaches.

I love chicken boxx. Everything there is so yummy. The Carne asada fries are delicious! Their Peruvian chicken is the only real Peruvian chicken in the area. The cheesecake empanadas are the only dessert like that I’ve ever had! I’ve had cheesecake cubes that have dried crumbs for the shell, but the dough with the filling is unlinked any other dessert I’ve ever had. I don’t like sweets but these empanadas!

The Chicken Boxx is the newest addition to the Huntington Ave. dinning scene. Ok, seriously, there is not much of a dining scene up and down Huntington, but this joint could really start a trend. With a clean ambiance reminiscent of old time diner, the Chicken Boxx offers a cozy spot where you can enjoy beer and a tasty snack. For me, it’s all about the Cubano, a delicious, cheesy concoction that will make you think that you landed in Miami. Of course, it is slightly different than the traditional Cuban sandwich, cheesier, but that is what makes it so darn good. And let’s not forget that they pickle their own pickles here for the perfect slice of Cubano perfection. Yum! The rest of the menu is equally delicious with a nice selection of authentic dishes. The chicken is succulently roasted to make for a veritable chicken feast. The chief will even pull it off the bone and place it in a salad for a very healthy lunch. Hands down, this place is a winner.

Surprisingly, this place is pretty good! I first had this delivered from Grubhub, and enjoyed everything we received. The burritos are pretty good, especially the value for the cost. This place has my favorite mozz sticks around! I know, I know…90% of places serve previously frozen sticks, but I’m particular. This are of the more squarish nature, not as round. The fried chicken is amazing, sweet plantains are perfect, and the yuca fries are different but good… rounded pre-cut. Really, nothing we’ve had on any of our visits has been less than satisfactory. The fried pork chops and peruvian chicken are both next on my list. The chicken isn’t ever available on Mondays when we stop after my daughter’s gymnastics class.

The 5– stars are primarily for the quality of food for the price they charge. I’ve been coming to this restaurant for months now trying different things on their menu. I’m from Miami and I spend a lot of time in the Bronx and sometimes, it’s hard to find a good Latin Caribbean restaurant around here. After tasting their food, this is where I currently go when I want some tostones, mofongo, etc. Their food is seasoned perfectly and it reminds me of back home. Their best dishes are hands down the two pork chop dinners. I generally get mines with garlic. I could literally eat this all day, every day. Close runner ups are the roasted chicken dinners and the burritos.

Really delicious food! Went there for the first time today and didn’t know what to expect. I think this place may be a new hidden gem, I think I’ll be frequenting in the future. Had the Cubano and tried the chicken and cheese empinadas, really good!

So, now the manager who was rude to me has now flagged my review as false because he doesn’t like it. To be clear, I DID actually order and can prove it. Matters did proceed as I stated. The worst part of it is that I was rudely hung up on. I can understand delayed delivery times, but when you hang up on me, you are unprofessional. If the restaurant had behaved civilly I never would have posted this review. I actually told the delivery driver about it and she didn’t seem to care at all. No one from the restaurant ever sincerely apologized. Just a canned response for«misunderstanding» on Unilocal and now attacking me by flagging my review My review is not inaccurate in any way.

This place is good… I go here often for breakfast. The food is good, toast is nicely done, sausage is done well and eggs are cooked right. I always ask for scrambled with cheese, they get the cheese part right but not the scrambled part, but its ok. Also when they give the potatoes they give a lot so thats always good. Im defiantly recommended this place, price well. Will defiantly try there lunch

YUM! Excellent food, and every friendly staff. Ever growing menu and a great addition to our friendly neighborhood. Great tacos and burritos. I’m in there a few times a month :)

Got the Peruvian style chicken and steak and cheese. The chicken is wonderful, just about perfect. The steak and cheese is solid. The only reason they didn’t get a 4 star rating is the fries — criminally under-cooked. I hope this is a one off mistake, but I will ask for well-done fries next time. The location needs better lighting, I suspect that fact that it always looks closed might be hurting foot traffic. Even with the open sign on – the place looked like it might be closed.

I was a little apprehensive about ordering Peruvian style chicken from a place that is called«Chicken Boxx.» I mean, right? I take my Peruvian chicken seriously because it needs to be just the right amount of juicy(not too juicy that it’s slipping out of your fingers and not too dry that you need a sip of Inca Kola after each bite) and the right type of spices. Also, yucca fries. They have to be perfect. How a place does Yucca fries is really at the crux of how I judge them. I asked for a TON of sauces, and when I say a ton I mean like more than 8 green sauces and more than 8 white sauces. Now, the little containers they placed the sauce in were not really full, so I ran out of sauces while eating. I’m a sauce fiend, so that’s also really important to me and I wish I had a few more sauces and/or they filled the containers up more. Overall though, I don’t really have any complaints. This underrated, neighborhood joint(don’t judge a book by its cover!) delivers! And I don’t mean delivery, because they don’t take care of delivery for a very wide radius(2 – 3 miles is not within range, but the highway would have been involved, so I’ll give them a break), but dining in or picking up food to go(which we did) works well! The prices are also super reasonable, and they have Unilocal deals available as well! Winner winner chicken dinner :)

It’s nice to finally have some good food within walking distance. Far and away the only restaurant worth a damn on huntington ave. First time I went I kind of felt like a guinea pig, trying a menu that wasn’t quite perfected yet. I have since been 3 more times, each time trying something new, and each time my opinion of the place improves. So far the only thing I’ve had that was less than stellar was the yellow rice. Sauces are all homemade and are bomb! The guy that I assume owns it is awesome, he’s friendly and always open to comments and constructive criticism. I told him the mac and cheese was bland, went a few days later and he improved it to near perfect. Eat here!

Nicely done! I ordered the cubano with a side of potato salad and I was skeptical, considering my less than pleasant experiences with J&A before this re-opened as Chicken Boxx recently. The cubano was a super savory panini with thinly sliced pickles and a lovely honey mustard to switch it up a bit. The potato salad could have used more potato, but I LOVED the use of(was it apples?) in the mix to keep it savory, creamy with a little sweet crunch. I’m holding back a bit because I still have some reservations, but this might be my new stop and grab on my way home from class/work. Nice little setup inside as well. You can tell they put some thought into the décor.

Meh. Came looking for decent fried chicken. First of all, it took ten minutes for anyone to even come over and take my order. I ordered two piece white meat and yucca and got 80% of a breast and one wing joint. Whoever cut this meat up did a sloppy job. Meat was dry and coating was greasy. Usually, when I get yucca, it’s like steak fries; these are like regular fries coated in some kind of cornmeal. Threw most of them away. I go out of my way to support small businesses, but from now on, if I’m blowing $ 7 on two pieces of chicken and a side, I’me either going to Popeyes or getting wings & mambo sauce at the local Chinese carryout.

I ordered a 2 fish taco meal for 5.99 because I thought it was a good deal. I got all the way home only to realize that I was give fish and chips(french fries). I guess that was kinda the same thing lol. The price, portions and quality was similar to what you would expect from Long John Silvers or Arthur Treachers(fish and chips, I obviously cant speak for the fish tacos).

Excellent food and the price is right. Make sure you try some of their yellow sauce to put on your sandwiches. The Cubano with pulled pork is great. I’m pretty sure all sandwiches come with a side. Most days one of the sides is potato salad which has little chunks of apples in it. If they have it the day you’re in their… highly recommend trying it. All in I’ve been back a few times in just the past 2 weeks and will be back again!

Chicken Boxx has become a welcome addition to the Huntington neighborhood, replacing the old(but good) J&A restaurant in the same premises. A varied menu gives Chicken Boxx a great appeal, but it is not expansive: which is good because each of the items they sell require a lot of time & effort from kitchen staff. The empanadas are amazing, but you must try the delicious chicken.
