Dr. Portell earns all five stars. I had a root canal and from the moment I sat down I felt totally at ease. My fear was to lose my natural tooth and need a dental implant. I was able to keep my tooth and I attribute that to his high standard of care and experience. He is a master of his profession. I have recommend him to all my friends and family.

It feels weird to give 5 stars to someone who gave you a root canal, but honestly it was a really pleasant experience (as much as oral surgery can be). Dr. Nathan Schoenly performed my root canal, and he was very calming and thorough. He took time to explain exactly what would be happening and continually asked me if I was doing ok or needed anything. They even gave me headphones so I could relax a little during the procedure. It only took about 45 minutes, I didn’t feel a thing during the procedure, and I have been pain free since the root canal! Their staff was awesome too — really sweet and welcoming and when I emailed about an insurance question, they followed up within minutes. Very happy with an event I was dreading.

The care I received at Dominion was awesome (which is saying something when you are getting a root canal). I would highly recommend Dr. Schoenly. He has great bedside manner and made my first root canal quick and painless. Should I ever need another root canal, I will absolutely come back and request Dr. Schoenly.

I was referred to Dominion Endodontics by my primary dentist, who thought my intensifying toothache likely needed to be resolved by a root canal. I was seen by Dr. Nathan Schoenly, D.D.S. Nathan is friendly and approachable, and by projecting both competence and professionalism, he had an immediate calming effect on me. After doing thorough diagnostic tests, he determined that a root canal was in fact required. Nathan did a superb job! He clearly has a masterful knowledge of his chosen field. He was patient in answering all of my questions, and I never felt rushed. In fact, he and his helpful and friendly assistant Ebony made me feel as though I was their only patient that day.
My root canal procedure was completed over two appointments, but he was able to end all of my pain on the very first visit, and better still, I had no lingering pain after either appointment!
My tooth now feels great, and I have Nathan to thank for that. I would enthusiastically recommend Dominion Endodontics — and Dr. Nathan Schoenly in particular — to anyone seeking such dental services.

After the visit I was told that insurance cover pretty much everything I just have to pay a small amount for the very expansive x-​ray. Month later I got huge bill for the visit. Insurance covered only$ 20. So I am calling back and force to the insurance and to the office. The office doesn’t know why insurance didn’t cover me. Insurance provider suggest that the wrong code was submitted to them since I was referred to the dr Portell by dr Leila Saba. Dr Saba made the first x-​ray, but didn’t know what’s going on and refered me to dr Portell. For dr Portell dr Saba’s X-​Ray wasn’t good enough, so he decided to give me few more one of which cat scan. Insurance provider didn’t know that it was a referral and refused to pay for all the additional e-​rays.

This was my first root canal and I was very nervous. Dr. Palmieri was amazing! I barely felt a thing! He puts you at ease and is so knowledgeable! What absolutely amazed me was that he called me later on in the day to see how I was doing and if I had any questions. That is a testament to how much Dr. Palmieri loves his job and cares for his patients!

My general dentist referred me, they knew I was in pain, and needed help ASAP, waited more than an hour, when I finally decided to leave and look for someone professional myself, the nice front desk lady asked: do you want me to check how much longer? Really??? You should’ve done that a while ago, and silly me that waited so long as well.

I’ve used DE multiple times and I have to say, every time it has been actually enjoyable. Dr. Palmeri is an incredible Endodontist. He has all the latest technology and takes his time to answer any questions. Fast and painless.

Are you kidding me? Dr. Palmieri was incredible! This was my 2^nd root canal and it was everything my 1^st one wasn’t — quick, efficient, and painless.
The first time was 3 visits with a different endodontist in Reston over the course of a number of weeks with the last visit being almost two hours. An hour into that one I thought we were done and he said, ‘I just can’t seem to find that last canal.’ I just about died right then and there.
Appt. with Dr. Palmieri was at 4:00p and when he started cleaning up at 5:00p I was about to ask him when I need to come back for my next appointment when he said, ‘All done!’ I was honestly shocked and as crazy as it sounds, excited for what just happened. I was done, no next appointment, no more shots, no more drilling, no more pain. Free… That’s it, I was free.
It’s the next day right now and my jaw is still coming to terms with the violation it just endured (a little sore which he said to expect), but I haven’t needed to touch the Ibuprofen he gave me (was popping 2 Advil every 4 hours prior to take the edge off the ache). Great, just plain great.

I was not very excited to learn that I needed to have a root canal. However, I was referred to Dr. Palmieri and was very impressed by him. From beginning to end he was very professional. He said he would also contact me later that day to make sure I was doing okay which he did. That was very reassuring. The front desk staff are also very professional and knowledgable. I would highly recommend going to see Dr. Palmieri if you need to have work done by an endodontist.

Considering the circumstance (being that I was getting a root canal), I couldn’t imagine having a better experience. The Alexandria office was able to accommodate me almost immediately, and I was on the chair and ready to go within 10 minutes of arriving. The staff is very cordial, and Dr. Dongell is AWESOME! The combination of her quirkiness and professionalism really made for stress-​free and painless procedure. The world needs more doctors like her.
