The most positive atmosphere. Great for drinks after work or a relaxing dinner. The food is excellent and made fresh. The pork carnitas are the bomb!!! So are the on the rocks Margaritas.

Restraunt claims to be Salvadorian and mexican. From what I get nothing about it is mexican. The food was good but not the greatest.

This is a neighborhood cantina which serves the el Salvadorian market and all others lucky enough to venture in for some of the most authentic Salvadorian food in the area perhaps outside of the Country of origin. If your not from El Salvador you might think the draw is the pool tables, Spanish music or cerveza and friendly environment, but don’t be discouraged. You will be quickly greeted by one of the friendliest wait staff I have found and truly excellent food. You can always find one or two of the owners walking around and making sure everyone is having a good time. They also have a tex mex menu for those not as familiar with more Central American dishes. But I would suggest seeking out one of the three owners for advise on your particular pallet. I work in the area and I have brought over five dozen out of town guests and other colleagues to Las Carnitas for a year and a half. I’ve tried too much of the menu to single out any particular dish. I often go back to their Huevos Con Chorizo(egg and sausage) and the sauté beef strips with jalapeño salsa. If you have room, try an order of chicken wings.

This Salvadorian hole-in-the-wall serves up some authentic dishes that allow you to enjoy some Central American deliciousness without the expense of purchasing an airline ticket. That’s right, foodies, you would pretty much need to fly down to El Salvador to experience anything more authentic. So what should you order when in Las Carnitas? Why Carnitas of course, for if there is one thing that they do well here is flavorful, roasted meat, a dish that is bathed in sauce which is seasoned to perfection. And to compliment this signature dish, you might want to consider a tic tac, a liqueur made from sugar cane and very popular down in El Salvador. They take a lot of pride in their food here, and it shows in Las Carnita’s service. They are always smiling and willing to help you with your selection. It should be noted that the many of the patron’s appear to have some connection to Central America, which I see as a good thing, for it underscores the authenticity of this joint’s food. Moreover, Las Carnita’s clientele is also very friendly and will more than likely give you a knowing nod of approval, realizing that you’re not the average diner but one willing to embrace different cultures and different foods. Seriously, the restaurant’s atmosphere is an added bonus. I would go with a five star rating, but Las Carnita’s location can be a bit sketchy at times, particularly at night Although this isn’t necessarily Las Carnita’s fault, the location does have a few nefarious characters(not affiliated with the restaurant) loitering near the strip mall from time to time.

Good food. I had a chicken burrito and margarita on the rocks. When I get Mexican I try to avoid the fancy dimly light restaurants and opt for the greasy spoon, Spanish speaking waitstaff restaurant. The margarita was stiff and cost around $ 6.50. The table next to us was a family and all of their food looked delicious. As many greasy spoon, Spanish speaking restaurants, it is located in a seedy strip mall with undesirables hanging around outside. I never felt unsafe though and I will continue to come here if in the neighborhood.
