The food at Taco Lucas is delicious and prepared freshly. The family members who run the place are unfailingly friendly and polite. If you are eating in, after you order sit at one of the tables and they will bring your order to you. Remember: this is quality food, freshly prepared and served piping hot, so don’t expect it to be served like a Big Mac. IMO Taco Lucas may be overlooked because it and its sign are slightly recessed off of Route 1(Richmond Highway) and therefore easy to drive by. If you seek quality homemade Mexican and Salvadoran food, do yourself a favor and eat here.

I just moved around this part of Richmond Highway area and I’m glad I found Taco Lucas. I was hungry one day and decided to try something knew so I came in and got the Carne Asada with a beef taco and OMG it was so good it tasted like someone cooked for me personally lol. Very refreshing to know nearby is some great authentic food. Only issue was the time, I was trying to be in and out and didn’t leave until 15 minutes after I placed my order.

Really great food. Not exspensive at all, it can take a while to get order I recommend calling ahead, but that just means they are actually cooking it not heating it up. Go there trust me!!!

I have tried the beef soup, atol de elote, quesadilla bread and pupusas. All of them were delicious, comforting and authentic. My only complaint is that it takes a very long time to be served; a soup and 3 pupusas took about 20 minutes to arrive. It’s worth the wait but it can be frustrating when you’re hungry.

Delicious papusas. Authentic and awesome. They also have a bakery inside with el Salvadorian treats. Highly recommended.

The food is so darned good! It’s owned by a nice Salvadoran family who use fresh ingredients and really know what they’re doing. I love ethnic food and I’ve been to many Salvadoran restaurants — Taco Lucas is the best. Just a small thing… the salsa, is homemade and is so good, whatever you put it on tastes even better, if that’s possible. I could drink it. I live over by the river in yuppieville, and my neighbors haven’t a clue what they’re missing. And lastly, I agree with other posters, it takes a while for your food to arrive, once ordered, but chill, bring a newspaper or book, because the wait is so worth it.

The food is great just like everyone said, but people here operate under 1 gear, SLOW. I’m a regular and I try to come at off hours to avoid the crowd, and yet I wait 30 minutes for my sopa de res. I know they didn’t just make it so I don’t know why they take too long for to pour the soup in bowl. I can’t imagine going there during the busy time.

I really like the Papusas and the torta sandwich. Order ahead if you’re in a hurry though.

Taco Lucas is a quaint, little restaurant that I regret over-looking because of its location on route one. From the outside, Taco Lucas is easily missed on Richmond Highway, which can be excused considering route one’s untold number of authentic southern and central american restaurants. I make my way through the doors and as the pleasant aroma of food hits my nostrils, I am entranced. On the Friday night I visit the restaurant, it is mostly empty, but signs showed they have customers coming in to pick-up on a regular basis. The process of ordering is that you pay for your food and drinks at the cashiers counter, you find a nice cozy spot, and wait to be served your yuca frita heaven — cause that’s what I get. Don’t get me wrong, the rest of the menu looks killer, I just need my yuca fix. The fried yuca at Taco Lucas is pretty amazing: it comes with a spicy salsa sauce for dipping, and fried beef. And let me say, this place doesn’t skimp on the yuca; I get a good ten, relatively large, pieces. The only drawback to my meal was that the fried beef was on the salty side, but if you take small piece of beef and combine it with a piece of yuca, it seems to qualm the sodium.(Maybe that’s how it is meant to be eaten?) Other than that, I can tell that they use fresh ingredients and make their own salsa, as was apparent by the quality of the food. Would I go again? Yes. Would I recommend it? Yes. And I encourage you to try Taco Lucas if you ever get the chance

I love their homemade tortilla. The fish soup and the fried fish platter is also delicious.

I’ve been to this place many times because my friend loves it for some reason. Taco Lucas is a small locally owned business with mediocre relatively cheap food. My major dislikes with the business to start with is that they charge .50 cents per refill which in this day In age is ridiculous considering people barely ever carry around change. My second dislike is that it takes a minimum of 20 minutes for your food to come out, like really slow. Finally we come to the food, the food tastes relatively good(the quality of ingredients I can’t speak for) but it really makes me mad that I’ve ordered a burrito there like 4 times and not once has it even been close to wrapped, they just roll it up in tin foil and call it good which I don’t like. All in all this place is ok if you don’t mind waiting for 20 – 30 minutes and having to pay for your refills.

Papusas and beef soup were my favorites. The steak tacos were good as well. Not sure why some folks felt«in danger» eating here… it is not a 5 star jacket required restaurant but rather a casual, small business serving good El Salvadorean food.

I really liked this place. It is a little far away from where I live but worth driving out here for. I cannot wait to come back. 1. It is not a chain restaurant but a family owned restaurant. 2. They play soothing music so you can have a good conversation with your dinnermates. 3. Staff is friendly and service is quick. 4. It is pretty busy. There was a steady flow of people walking in. 5. Food is excellent. I had the lengua tacos. They tasted not gamey at all but tasted like short rib. So good! The pupusas were so perfect and the slaw they came with complimented the pupusas so well. The yuca was perfect. Crispy on the outside and pillow soft on the inside. I cant wait to try the other things on the menu. With these great prices you can. The prices are amazing. They could seriously charge more but really must care about their customers. There were a lot of families that came in. You have to come in and give it a try. You won’t be disappointed. I also had the horchata a to drink. It was so refreshing.

Don’t believe the yuppies… The place is safe, it’s not a big deal. I’ve been going here for years, incident free. The food is fresh, delicious, and cooked to order. I call ahead for my food, even if I’m going to dine in. Items to note… Carne asada tacos… Amazing. The Pico de Gallo is perfect and not too oniony, and their meat is marinated properly and tender. The giant fish. So, so good. I haven’t tried any of their soups but my friend did and she said the fish soup was great. Basically the food is fantastic. The bathrooms are normally clean, never seen any grossness. And I’ve never been sick after eating there, an do have a weak stomach. Now, the cons… I’ve seen ants. And I have a huge and phobia. I know it’s summer and I know that ants happen and they aren’t roaches, but it’s freaked me out to see a little ant minding it’s business on my table. Not really a con, but the wait times. But I’d rather wait for fresh food than eat taco bell type food… No alcohol. Lol Anyway they would have had five stars, but the ants… dude… The staff is nice enough. Seems like a family type thing. There’s one lady who is so, so nice… She’s the one who normally takes the orders with the gray eyes.

Tasty authentic Salvadorian/Mexican food. Not the safest of areas, but nothing too alarming, it’s on a highway so, you know.

I love this place !! I’ve ate here for years since I was a little girl. No the place doesn’t have fancy décor etc but the food is awesome !! Also the prices are great !! They also do accept credit cards in regards to someone else’s review there a minimum $ 10 purchase. My favorite is there pupusas and Curtido but I’ve tried other stuff which also tasted amazing. I’ve tried there Chalupas, enchiladas, yuca, tacos and the horchata drink which is absolutely delicious. I love that food here is authentic you can even see your food being made in the window.

Back in the 90s this was my family’s go to place for Mexican food. We would go once every couple of months, and around 2000 we finally stopped going altogether because it was«too far of a drive just to get food». Recently I decided to take a trip down memory lane and get some chili rellenos and a super burrito. Upon arrival I was hesitant to enter. The restaurant has not been cared for over the years. The parking lot was full of holes, and the inside was dim with customers relying on sunlight to light their plates. The inside had not changed much, if at all, since my last visit. The booths had not been updated from the brown paint, and the plates were the same tan plastic plates. There were still gumball machines by the door. The chili rellenos used to be stuffed to the brim with chicken, cheese, pineapple and rice. This time, I was presented with a tiny chili filled with chicken and rice that poured out of the chili. The meat looked to have been stewed. There was a handful of cheese spread on top of the chili, but none of the ooey-gooey goodness that I remember. Flavor wise, this dish was lacking. The chicken was bland, and the sauce fell flat for me. Nothing about this dish popped. I did not even finish the super burrito. The tortilla stuck to the aluminum wrapper, and the contents were reminiscent of Taco Bell seasonings. Overall, I was disappointed; I guess some memories are not meant to be revisited.

This is definitely a place you want to stop in and get a menu to bring home and then call ahead the next day to make sure your food is ready when you get there. It took about 25 minutes for them to make our food while we were standing there waiting to take it home. But that is because it’s hand made and fresh(we saw the woman in the kitchen cutting the steak strips off the roast), so just call ahead and you’ll be golden. The menu board just has the name of the dish and a picture, so pick up one of their menus to see the description of the item. We had some tacos, a super burrito, and the chicken quesadilla. My hubby said the tacos were super good and I loved the burrito. The chicken quesadilla was just so-so… we got it in case there was cilantro in my burrito(which there was not! yay!). We’re going to go back and be more adventurous in our order next time! Edit: Make sure you check your order because we asked for no tomatoes but they forgot and put them on.

I love this place, and have been there numerous times. I’ve enjoyed all the dishes I’ve tried, and I’d say you can’t go wrong whether you’re having an appetizer, or one of their full entrees. You order at the counter, but the food is brought to your table. It takes a bit of time, usually, but they serve it up very fresh and homemade quality.
