Lioudmila’s Dance Studio

My now husband and I took private lessons here for the first dance at our wedding. Neither of us had any dance experience and our instructor, Jia, was awesome. She was so patient and positive. We really looked forward to our lessons and found it to be a great pre-​marriage team building activity. Everyone loved our dance!

This dance studio is amazing.
People are very friendly and helpful, the floor is really big, spacious and clean.

I cannot say enough good things about Dance Studio Lioudmila and their team of talented studio staff and independent dance instructors! The instructors are talented, extremely professional, warm, and welcoming — which is important because whether you’re learning to dance for the very first time or if you are a seasoned dancer wanting to perfect your skills, you want to enjoy your time on the dance floor.
The studio is very large and the floor is a beautiful setting on which to dance. There is abundant free parking. The Saturday night dance parties are fun for couples and singles and include a 45 minute dance lesson. The studio is conveniently located about ten minutes from Old Town Alexandria so you can enjoy a nice dinner before or after a Saturday night dance. I highly recommend this studio for anyone who wants to learn how to dance.

Dance studio Lioudmila is the best dance studio I’ve experienced over my last 5 – 6 years of dance learning experience. And Lioudmila, the owner, is the best teacher I’ve ever met. Her explanations are short, sweet and up to the point. She gives material pretty quick and very understandable. No dragging feet over and over the same moves as some other teachers do and no extra words and stories during the lessons, as I see some people complained about in reviews. The studio itself is very conveniently situated next to the beltway and pretty close to Alexandria Old Town. It has ample of space, which can accommodate several different classes at the same time and is a perfect place for the weekly social dances, where you don’t have to run over the next couple every time you turn around. The atmosphere is very pleasant and friendly. The crowd is a mix of all ages. The prices are fair and affordable. I do recommend this dance studio to all my friends and will continue to do so. Lioudmila rocks!!!

I am updating my review because I was informed that the instructors involved merely rent studio space from Lioudmila dance studio and are not permanent staff here. That being said, an owner is responsible for who they allow to rent space from them to teach and in the future I would hope that an experience like mine would be resolved differently.

Lioudmilla works miracles! My fiancé and I are definitely NOT dancers, but Lioudmilla managed to create a beautiful First Dance for us for our wedding reception in only 6 45-​minute lessons. She was extremely patient with both of us, helping to set us at ease in an area that is definitely outside our comfort zone. She also has a wonderful attention to detail and would not let us get by with a sloppy performance (despite our amateurish dancing abilities). We are both very impressed and grateful! We strongly recommend her!

My boyfriend and I took our first salsa lesson here last night and were incredibly impressed. We have been looking for a place to take lessons in DC for the last year and finally came across this place located in nearby Alexandria. When you walk in (after easily finding location and free parking) you walk upstairs into a beautifully kept studio and are greeted promptly by a lovely receptionist. She quickly brought us up to speed on pricing options/​packages and no hard sell. I asked if we could decide after taking the class whether we wanted to pay for the single class or invest in the 4-​pack and it was no issue at all. While we waited we enjoyed watching private lessons and our teacher approached us to introduce herself and make us feel welcome/​comfortable. The class ended up with about 12 people, both couples and singles. She started by simply playing the music and teaching our ears the counts/​beats. The group immediately felt comfortable with switching partners while the instructor provided thoughtful and specific advice to each of us as individuals. We are already dancing better and look forward to the next 3 weeks!

My new husband and I absolutely LOVE Lioudmila! We had her choreograph a rumba for us for our first dance and it was the best decision ever. We gave her our music on the first day, and she immediately had a routine in her head. We took 5 lessons with her and finished our routine around the 4^th lesson. She gave us some pretty challenging combinations that we really enjoyed. She also proceeded to teach us some argentine tango and salsa moves when our routine finished. We will definitely go back to take ballroom dancing lessons through her dance studio since we’re hooked. Here’s a video of our first dance:

This is a great studio at a convenient place between work and home right off 495. No traffic and lots of parking… One of my favorite places for lessons and just a place to practice. My favorite part of this is how passionate most of the teachers are about dancing.

I’ve been taking classes at Dance Studio Lioudmila for few moths now and I absolutely love it.
First of all– they offer a god variety of classes. All instructors are professional and really care about students and are proud of students’ achievements as they would be proud of their
personal favorite is Karen, but seriously– it’s hard to pick just one.
Their unlimited monthly membership option is great– saves money and brings per class value down substantially.
I’ve never taken wedding dance classes, but I’ve seen couples taking those… very impressive.
And the best thing about it– there is no pressure, they are not trying to sell you more… I’ve been to the studios where I had to quite because of the «we’ll sell you more» pressure.
I would definitely recommend this studio.

We love our dance instructor Inga and Lioudmila so much that we have continued taking dance lessons after our wedding!

Migle was a tremendous teacher and a real life-​saver. My fiancé and I had taken a lesson at a different studio in preparation for our upcoming wedding, but we didn’t like the teacher, and time was running out. We found Migle and Dance Studio Lioudmila through
, and we were thrilled with our lesson. In only fifty-​five minutes, she taught us basic steps, walked us through some fundamentals, and gave us a choreographed dance for our wedding reception. She was no-​nonsense and made us repeat the combinations over and over so we would absorb what she was teaching us. She even had the idea to use our cellphones to make video of the lesson so we could practice at home. We left the lesson confident that we’d look great on the dance floor. Thanks again, Migle!
