Just adding another review to echo what a lot of these already say: I was about 30 seconds from clicking «confirm purchase» for a set of Bosch appliances from some website, when on a whim I also emailed Eric with what I was looking for (originally to snarkily reaffirm we were getting a better deal online), and ended up leaving paying a difference of the sales tax for a MUCH better experience. As the other reviewer said, he emailed me a detailed list of possibilities, so I was able to compare and consider any questions before I went in. He verified the applicable rebates, quickly answered any questions, didn’t pressure or try to up-​sell me, and worked with us on a really easy delivery experience that fit our schedule. The day of the scheduled delivery he kept me informed of the timeline, which I was pleasantly surprised at. I’ll definitely check here first from now on!

You don’t often find a small business like Candy’s, especially in a big city like DC. They match the prices of the big box stores, and offer pretty much every brand and every model. What sets them apart is the level of service… The manager Eric is knowledgeable and professional, offering a level of service you just won’t find from a part timer at Best Buy or Home Depot. Given that they match or beat prices at the big stores, it’s not even necessary to drive yourself crazy comparing prices from one store to another. Eric will do your homework for you. To sweeten the deal, they deliver when promised, no vague four-​hour windows that kill your day.

We purchased a Miele dishwasher from Candy’s after reviewing many options. Eric was simply wonderful, answering all my questions and showing up on time for the installation, then taking the old dishwasher away for disposal. We love working with a local small business with great quality stock and excellent service. As a result, when our microwave/​convection oven died recently, I did not hesitate to give Eric a call. The installation was seamless and once again I can sing their praises. The vacuums in the window initially were misleading because I thought that was all they sold, but no, Candy’s has all kitchen and laundry items, mostly premium brands.

Couldn’t be more satisfied. After an abysmal experience at Lowe’s, I decided to «go small» and «go local,» and expected to pay a premium for doing so, assuming that the smaller stores probably couldn’t match the big-​box store prices for dishwashers.
Not so, I’m glad to report. Candey’s had everything a store should have – attentive customer service (I emailed my specs to them, and they had choices available for us when we showed up, saving considerable time), and very reasonable prices – better, in fact, than I’d have paid at Lowes for a comparable machine.
Our transaction was efficiently and professionally handled – very satisfied!

Talk about creepy! I entered the store — no one in sight. I yelled out «hello» several times. Walked all the way past the office — even opened the alley door. No one. A couple of ladies came in and I told them no one was there. I had been in the store five minutes at that point. I walked to the back again, checked out some neat Viking appliances — when I got back up to the front the ladies walked out. A man was there — he asked me how I got in! I said the door. He said he had been in the store. I asked where and he said right here — he was helping those ladies. Really?! I told him I had arrived five minutes BEFORE them. He wouldn’t change his story. I indicated that I really just wanted to buy my vacuum bags. He rung it up — I handed him a $ 20. He said they didn’t have any money. Hmm. I offered a credit card. He said he didn’t own the store and I could call if I had any complaints. I offered the credit card again and said that I really just wanted the bags and would he please take m credit card. Odd. Disturbing. Creepy. If I didn’t have a pressing flea problem that required immediate vacuuming I would have left:-(

We’ve purchased a vacume and Mangle from this store, and had our vacume hose repaired here as well. They are always professional and helpful. I would recommend doing business with to a friend.

This is a small, modern appliance store with old-​fashioned service. I had a challenging issue, with a very tight, old-​fashioned laundry closet. The owners and staff recommended a combination washer/​dryer (single unit, not stacked), which uses a new technology allowing consecutive washing and drying in a single drum. This would save considerable space, but the best such model was still a very tight fit.
As part of their service, the owner himself came around to do a site inspection. He measured carefully and determined that my preferred unit would indeed fit. Later, the installation went very smoothly.
Prices are generally competitive, but not with the cut rate outfits. Given the old-​fashioned service and the fact that store personnel take you through the whole process themselves, you get what you pay for with Candey’s.
They even make actual apointments and show up on the dot! No «windows» requiring wasted days of vacation time.
If you have a simple job, say installation in a basement with plenty of room and no issues, and if you aren’t too picky about the machine, you probably could go with a bigger operation and save some money. But if you have any issues or if you consider your time valuable, Candey’s is an excellent choice.
