Hiring Old Blue BBQ was one of the best decisions we made regarding our wedding. I cannot say enough great things about Kelly and her team. When Kelly says «don’t worry, it’s no problem, we will take care of it» do not doubt her, not even for one second. Everything that Kelly said she would do or set up, she did. She understood my vision as far as how I wanted everything set up and everything ended up looking amazing! Trust in her and her judgment in making those last minute decisions. The fact that they will transport a lot of the necessary «stuff» for your wedding day could not have been better. Also, so many caterers make you buy their alcohol through them which can be so expensive. Not only did Old Blue BBQ let us buy our own alcohol, but they transported it to the venue for us. My husband and I decided to do light appetizers during our cocktail hour and do it ourselves. Old Blue BBQ not only allowed us to bring this food in advance, but also set up and plated it for us. Now, on to the food, our guests RAVED! Everyone really enjoyed everything and so did we. We got the beef brisket, pulled chicken, mac and cheese and baked beans. My family of 10 was eating the left overs for a week. By the end of the entire process, you feel like you have added to your family because Old Blue BBQ is just that amazing.

Excellence in Customer Service! I chose them based on the Unilocal reviews while planning our company picnic. I must say, the experience was absolutely amazing. Shannon helped me plan the menu and was very patient with my constant changes. She took great care in making sure I was happy with the menu. Everyone raved about the food. But I must say, their customer service is unparalleled. They were early to set up before my guests arrived and were very cooperative as we had some other vendor fares as well. They even help in setting up the other fares and the beverages and above all, with a big smile on their face. Shannon, Kari and Janaya, you girls rock! My event was a big success thanks to you all. Highly recommended.

Yes, Old Blue is worthy of all the five-​star reviews. Their food is excellent and they did an OUTSTANDING job with all of the service for my wedding. Prices are very reasonable compared to other catering outfits we looked at, and Kelly and Kyle were responsive and easy to work with. Highly recommended.

My husband and I planned a wedding for August 15, 2015 (150 people), and we were looking for great BBQ to serve to our guests. We sampled several local BBQ companies, and Old Blue was the best for several reasons:
1. Their food tasted the best! Their meat is prepared fresh. Their baked beans are the best I ever had.
2. Their prices were awesome. They feed vendors for free, which can add up.
3. Kelly outdid herself. Her experience in the event planning industry coupled with her expertise in catering made her one of the most valuable assets to our wedding day team.
4. Guests raved about how delicious the food was and how having non-​traditional wedding fare made the event more fun and relaxed. Our venue was rather fancy and the wedding itself pretty traditional, so this was a fun, yet professional addition to the day.
I would whole-​heartedly recommend Old Blue BBQ for your event.

Service: I worked directly with Kelly for our company picnic of about 300 people and she was flexible and on top of it every step of the way! She worked with us on the menu to accommodate different needs and stayed energetic and helpful even after several changes. She was quick to respond to emails or phone calls which is a MUST when you are planning an event. First we set up a tasting with them and were extremely pleased with their menu so we decided to book them and I am glad we did!
Food:The food was absolutely delicious. We had brisket, ribs, chicken, mac and cheese, beans, and more. The way they cook/​smoke the meat results in it being so tender and scrumptious and the peach bourbon beans are

Presentation: We were extremely happy with the presentation the day of the event. They brought these adorable baskets to cover the chafing dishes to give the whole buffet a perfect picnic feel.
We had our whole company raving about Old Blue, which has lead to several people asking me for their contact info to book them for their events!
We are having them again for our office lunch this Friday and I cannot wait!

We had Old Blue BBQ cater our company picnic. All I can say is WOW! All of our guests were raving about the food (especially the brisket with burnt ends)! Even kids went back for seconds.
Kelly was great to work with and the service was top notch. They were prompt with setup and breakdown and the staff is very professional. Best BBQ in the DMV area in my opinion! I can’t wait to throw another bbq party just to have their food.

Old Blue BBQ recently catered for our July Wedding and it turned out amazing. Kelly is a true rock star and her staff is very professional. The food was delicious and the only thing better was the presentation, I wish I had a picture to attach to this review but our wedding was country themed and the presentation fit perfectly. They truly exceeded our expectations.
Her staff works as hard as she does and they never stopped moving, they set up all of the chairs for our guests at the ceremony on a hill in the blazing heat, they were constantly busing plates for our guests, helping with the bar tending duties, they stayed until the very end (well past the contracted times) and cleaned up the reception as well as took down the chairs from the ceremony.
We had such a nightmare time finding a caterer to fit in our budget, most of them would either not serve the food and clean up or they wanted at least $ 100 per person. Some were very rude and others wouldn’t even return our calls. From the moment we met Kelly we felt at ease, she did everything possible to work within our budget and we immediately knew we needed to book Old Blue BBQ for our big day.
Kelly, we can never thank you enough for the tremendous job you did preparing and executing for our wedding, it is truly an event our guests will remember forever. I will recommend Old Blue BBQ to all friends and family for any event in the future as well.

OK, This BBQ is amazing. For those that know my love of eating and creating BBQ, this is a big deal for me to give a BBQ place 5 stars, and Old Blue does and did not let me down. They catered my daughter’s Bat Mitzvah and were fantastic with their support. The staff was professional and friendly, they kept the lemonade and tea flowing, and the food… oh the food. Adults were going back for 2nds and 3rds (which you don’t usually see at an event like this), but they couldn’t help themselves. Between the brisket, the pulled chicken, the sides and the mac and cheese.
The staff at Old Blue only complimented their food. Their sales rep was personable, not pushy, and VERY responsive. We had a tasting with him, and even the owner showed, which we were humbled by. Before the event, they gave my wife access to their software to plan seating, added wonderful decorations that were right on par with the theme, and had the right amount of staff to keep the line moving. So not only is their food good, but their logistics and planning.
Just yes. Eat their food. Have them cater your event, and when you do, please invite me so I can enjoy this again.

Stop your search, this is the company you want catering your event. My wife and I hired Old Blue to cater our backyard wedding, pig roast, BBQ and bar services for 130 people, nothing but the highest of praise for Old Blue.
The food: Best BBQ in Nova, way better than rocklands. Along with shredded chicken, beans and Mac and cheese, we had a 110lb pig roast, which Old Blue started roasting at 4:30am, instantly became my death row meal (not sure if they’d cater for that but worth asking). Family and friends wouldn’t shut up about how amazing it all was.
The service: Rachel took our account from the start, easy to reach at all times, very quick to respond, extremely professional and helpful. Kari was our on-​site manager, she took on the task of making sure we could focus on our wedding, family and friends, killed it, didn’t worry once about the 130 people we had to feed/​entertain. The night before the event, our rental company failed delivering the linens, Rachel and Kari saved the day and got us some last minute linens from another company. Everyone they brought on site to help with the event was exceedingly professional and friendly.
Price: You could do what I did and get quotes from the major Nova BBQ caterers or you could trust me when I say that Old Blue will come back with the best price.
This is a GREAT local company that prides itself in it’s amazing food and professional customer service, highly recommend them.

I full heartedly recommend Old Blue BBQ! I just had them cater for my wedding. Not only was the food delicious, but more importantly, they were a delight to work with! Kelly went above and beyond to help us with wedding logistics and layout, and she left no detail untouched. I was completely confident that everything was going to run smoothly with Old Blue BBQ, and it certainly did! I had another vendor fall through a few days before my wedding, and old blue was able to help me out with alternative plans that ended up working out great!

My wife and I couldn’t be happier about choosing Old Blue BBQ to cater our March wedding. Kelly was amazing from the start. She has a real knack for planning and I can 100% say that she was a huge factor in the wedding running smoothly. She helped us plan and decide on things that we hadn’t even thought of, from table linens to the table layout in the venue.
Of course, the food was phenomenal as well. Deviled eggs are a favorite in my family, so the bar was set very high, and they were a huge hit. Brisket and pork loin mains were raved about all night, and I’m still getting compliments a month later about them. As well, our wedding was on Pi Day (March 14, ³⁄₁₄), so Old Blue was a perfect fit, supplying three different flavors of seasonal pies for dessert.
Lastly, the Old Blue staff was great on the day of the event. Our venue was two floors, and they brought two plates up the stairs to my elderly grandparents to save them the trip, which was a truly amazing touch. Everyone was polite, professional, and attentive.

Old Blue BBQ did my October wedding, and they were nothing short of pheonomenal. From my first email over a year ago asking about prices and menus, they were responsive, professional, friendly, and more helpful then I would ever imagine a caterer would be.
I’ll post some pictures when I get my wedding pictures back but ALL NIGHT different members of my family told me it was the best food they ever had at a wedding, and quite possibly the best brisket they’ve ever eat. Their mac is cheese is amazing and all the bbq is LEGIT pink smoke ring amazingness.
I could go on and on, but to sum things up, the food was one of the best parts of my wedding, and I could not, in any way, have been any happier with their services.

Old Blue BBQ catered our camping wedding and I could not have been happier. As the groom, I had very few demands on this day, good food being one of them. Old Blue delivered EXCELLENT!
Their staff was friendly and helpful, they asked a lot of good questions and helped with extra stuff on the day of the wedding. They drove out to our home to do a taste testing and select the perfect menu. I cannot thank them enough for an amazing day!

Old Blue BBQ catered my husband’s 40^th birthday party and we could not have been happier with the job they did. At least 5 different guests asked for the name of our caterer. The food was sensational, the set up was beautiful; they exceeded my expectations in every way. We will definitely use them again!

Kelly, Steven and the Old Blue BBQ team are truly awesome. The food and their service made everyone at my wedding extremely happy (not to mention full). Their catering service was prompt and above all things, I loved how flexible they were and how much they worked with my budget! I highly recommend them and will not hesitate to use them again. The sauces are delicious and the meat is tender and very well seasoned.

My wife and I were married earlier this summer, and through her Arlington contacts we were fortunate enough to find Old Blue BBQ and have them cater our outdoor wedding. We simply can’t say enough positive things about Kelly and Stephen — they and their staff worked tirelessly to make sure we felt comfortable about every detail, and they over-​delivered on everything promised; it was a flawless event for over 200 guests.
Most impressive was the food itself: the sea scorpions and bacon-​wrapped jalapeño poppers were crowd favorites, but even the simple yet elegant cheese and fruit plates got rave reviews. The pulled pork and brisket were some of the best we’ve ever had, and the mac n’ cheese was absolutely perfect. We loved everything, but even more satisfying was hearing numerous guests say it was some of the best wedding food they’d ever had.
Presentation was thoughtful and tasteful, food service polite and attentive. From beginning to end, Kelly and Stephen worked tirelessly to make it a memorable event. To have pulled off such a large event of that quality is a testament to their planning, work ethic, and attention to detail. We recommend them as highly as possible for any event you may be considering them for!

My wife and I attended a wedding for great friends of ours this summer for which Old Blue BBQ catered and helped them out with event coordination and decorations.
Before the wedding weekend even arrived, we’d already heard reports about the amazing food. Naturally, this only upped the anti and we headed to the main event with high hopes.
We’re in our early thirties and coming off of a run of four or so years during which we’ve married off nearly all our friends. Across the board– from appetizers to dessert – Old Blue had some of the best food of the bunch.
The presentation and decoration for the wedding were top notch and you could see how much the planning and preparation help smooth the way for a memorable celebration.
To top it all off, when we raided the fridge for leftovers at around 1am, the pulled pork sandwiches were still mouthwatering.

I would give more stars if I could! The Old Blue team did a fantastic job catering our party. EVERY person said the food was 10 times better than any of the chain BBQ places around! Try the awesome BBQ pulled pork and pulled chicken, and if you have any room left, eat as many pieces of the corn bread as possible, heaven.
The delivery was amazing, on-​site delivery, exactly on time, easy set up and came right back when we called to clean up the supplies. The owner and the staff are very friendly and easy to work with. We had a large scheduling conflict, and they were happy to help out and move to our new date.
GO WITH Old Blue BBQ, avoid the chains, you will taste the difference.

The bacon-​wrapped cheese stuffed jalapeño poppers were UNREAL!
Same goes for the smoked pulled ckn & smoked baby back ribs — both were excellent & had a ton of flavor! Finishing the prep onsite was key to the ckn staying nice & moist & the ribs staying juicy & delicious & not drying out.
Everyone in my office was freaking out on how good the food was today!
