Stopped in for a quick dinner. Had the ravioli for the appetizer and it was good. For the main course I had a burger which was cooked as I ordered. All in all food was as expected for the price point and atmosphere. I’d eat here again.

Have planned to go several times and just didn’t get around to, but today I wish I had come sooner. Great atmosphere, food, drinks & service. And did I mention the food is great?!?

will was phenomenal. Excellent service food was magnificent there’s no way that I would have wanted to join anywhere else this afternoon. Always great when we come here. My only recommendation, give me more barbecue sauce on the southwestern chicken salad. LOL

My husband and I came here early on a weekday and found the service to be fast and friendly. I had their daily oysters(chincoteague) as an appetizer and the roasted half chicken. My husband had the NY strip. Both our dishes were very good. My oyster had a little too much she’ll in them for my taste, but the flavor was good. My roasted chicken was smokey and delicious, and the Brussels sprouts and potatoes were excellent. You could really taste the wood oven flavors in all of it. My husband also enjoyed his steak. It was well seasoned and correctly cooked to temperature. Overall we had a wonderful meal and would be back!

The food is good but the service… not so much. So two instead of three stars. The restaurant seemed about half full — not bad for a Tuesday night. Despite not being very busy, the server never came back to check on us once he served the food. He later put down a dessert menu without saying anything and then — again — never came back to see if we wanted anything from it. After 15 minutes, we had to track him down for the check. I’m not even sure there was a manager on duty.

We went the day before Mother’s Day for brunch. Excellent service, no wait time. The steak and eggs was probably the most flavorful, tasty cut of meat I’ve had in ages and the skillet cornbread was wonderful. Mom and Grandma noted that the coffee was superb and Pop was just dying over the grits. Crab cakes were pure crab, no fillers. Everything about this meal was just really, really solid. Would absolutely return.

So I’m out and about for a little happy hour before going back to my friends house for dinner and need 1 more and a bite to soak things up so a beer and the brisket slider it is. Ice cold beer can’t ask for much more, been here for lunch and dinner before so figuring on a good slider too… Slider shows up with fries on the side a pleasant surprise for the $, brisket is as tender as can be with a bit of a tang in the sauce, fries are shoe string variety and pretty basic as it goes. Have to say I’ve never been disappointed when I’ve been here, pretty consistent food(love that) nice staff can’t go wrong in my book with that.

Food is amazing, very nice place. But they don’t really want you hanging around 1 second after you finish eating. Waitress was sending the«eat and leave» signal. I was still chewing when she took my plate. Very«meh» experience.

Solid lunch spot with plenty of seating for groups. Menu is broad and may be the weakness as all the food matches the description, but can be bland and inconsistent. Pruning the menu would likely do wonders for the consistency and quality of the food. Service has always been pretty good and since it is a couple of blocks away it is always up for consideration when lunch time rolls around. No «bad» experiences, but not a place I would bother coming back to if I wasn’t at work.

I came here for brunch on Sunday and the food was phenomenal with good portions for the price. I had the Cobb omelet and shared the French toast with a girlfriend. The whipped butter for the French toast is part Grand Marnier — really nice, subtle orange flavor profile. Irish coffee was very good and the service was on point. Four stars!

Kudos to this restaurant that accommodated 14 guest at the last minute on New Year Eve! Every place we tried to eat on King Street, needed a reservation this night. Using the handy-dandy Unilocal app, I found this place a few blocks from us and called up to the restaurant to see if they can get us in. The gentleman on the phone said just come in, we can make something work. Yay!!! By the time we walked a few blocks to get there we had a section to ourself away from the main dining! Our server was attentive and we never had to wait for him to come back into the room or wait for our drinks to be filled. All our food was delicious! Pan fried Tilapia– pan fried whole and it was good! Not dry or greasy just like how I would have made it at home. Burger– seasoned and cooked perfectly Crab cake– minimum fillers, tasty and with real crab meat Grilled chicken– great use of rosemary and seasoning, tender and juicy Mac n cheese– penne pasta with plenty of good quality cheese, served on a small cast iron dish– hot We also have a 10 yr old picky eater and there was nothing on the menu she wanted and we was able to place an order of pasta and butter for her. This restaurant went above and beyond! We will all definitely be back whenever we are back in the area but this time with plenty of notice for seating our group :-)

Gem in the Old Town Alexandria area. And unlike a lot of other restaurants in the area, they are open between lunch and dinner, so you can get something quick at off-hours. We stopped by around 4PM, were immediately seated and waited on promptly. We started with the Warm Spinach Dip appetizer, worth it, a generous portion of cheese with spinach, went well with the tortilla chips. The BBQ Beef Brisket sandwich was just heavenly, a nice char on the outside and cooked to perfection inside, a slightly sweet BBQ sauce, just great. The Guanaca, a cilantro lime chicken salad, was very well put together, a variety of ingredients whose cilantro lime dressing did indeed bring it all together, and both light and healthy(for a good feeling). I can’t say what the Crab Cake Sandwich tasted like, it disappeared before I could get any of it, so I’ll just theorize that it was scrumptious. The pasta of the day, a chicken spinach ravioli, was underwhelming, and I couldn’t even tell if there was chicken in there. And the Blackthorn Cider(from the UK) was very dry, very dry. And all this at prices competitive for Old Town(except maybe the crab cake, but seafood is typically more pricey anyway).

Overwood is right on the street with only street parking, but there are many parking garages nearby for pretty cheap within close walking distance. We were able to get an 8pm reservation for New Years Eve a few days out and I’m glad we did. It started getting very busy as the night went on. We arrived right at 8 and our group of four(my parents, fiancé, and me) were greeted with a smile, we were taken straight to our table which I think was the best in the house. Great view of the TV’s by the bar, close to the restrooms and in the center of the ambiance. Zach was our server and was great at recommending drinks to get our evening started. Being a craft beer enthusiast, their list was incredible, full of local and great national and international options. Not to mention, their list of specialty cocktails was impressive with some unique bottles behind the bar. We skipped appetizers and went straight for the main course. Three of us ordered their signature ribs, rightfully named. Fall-off-the-bone and full of flavor. Normally I need to add extra sauce when I have ribs, tonight was an exception. The ribs were served with their shoestring fries and cole slaw. Some of the best I’ve had.(Hint, ask for some of their aioli sauce to dip your fries in, phenomenal). My fiancé had their salmon and absolutely loved it, a nice portion as well. For dessert, I ordered their Elvis Pie, a massive slice of heaven. With banana slices in the middle of the peanut butter crème, very delicious. Overall, this couldn’t have been a better NYE experience, on a notoriously busy night for eating out, we had very little wait time getting our food, our drinks refilled, and never once felt rushed out so they could reset our table. Alexandria is a regular stop when I visit family, I will definitely be going back next time. Thanks for a great evening!

They were very busy meal was: We ordered the fried ravioli, we give them an 3.5 the were good but thin. Salad wedge was great except for putting the core of the lettuce on the plate. Caesar salad was good nothing special. Bread was very hard. Cajun ribeye was excellent we give it a 4. Little more juicy would make a 5. Swordfish special was not as advertised. It was like Cajun seasoned and spicy. Very thin but tasted good. I didn’t get corn relish that was advertised. The black bean and ginger purée looks like squid ink on the plate. So if you eat with your eyes. Don’t get it. See picture… Key lime was just a 3 kinda bland but pretty. Elvis pie was a 3.5 was good if you like a ton of peanut butter. Recommend Spanish Wine and they have Stella on tap Service was good and they were very busy. The steak was beautiful and the place was busy so we will come back!

Good happy hour specials available and good selection of draft beers. They have $ 1.00 oysters. Their oysters were okay. They were small, but tasted fresh and cold. I also got their hummus platter. It came with a lot of hummus and very little sides to dip the hummus. I ended up having a lot of hummus left and nothing to dip it with. They gave me pita bread, canned olives:/, and cucumbers. I also got buffalo wings. They were the best thing that I got here. The sliders came with fries! Nice staff and friendly service. It’s a decent happy hour, but food isn’t the best.

Came here for brunch with a big group, we were treated great! All the food was wonderful: Bloody Mary(without the shrimp) — wonderful! 4⁄5 Toasted Ravioli — Delish! 4⁄5 Smoked salmon bruschetta — good. 3.5÷5 Daily special corned beef hash and eggs — great 4⁄5 Brioche French toast — great! 4⁄5 Mac and cheese — good 3.5÷5 Key lime pie — great 4⁄5 Only two complaints: 1– even though the place was not busy, the waiter was not all that attentive 2 — there is no meat substitute for bacon or shrimp in the brunch dishes. No turkey bacon or sausage. Overall a solid 4 of five stars and we will be back again.

My husband and I came here for dinner on Friday night. We had a reservation and were seated right away. The restaurant has a warm vibe and has a nice little bar too. They had a 2 for $ 35 deal going on for Alexandria restaurant week so we decided to do that. We started with their rib appetizer. The bbq sauce was very flavorful and the meat was falling off the bones, it was really good. We both got the steak for our main dish and it was quite good. My husbands steak was cooked perfectly and mine was a little over but it was ok. The steaks were seasoned very well and came with thin fries and a little side salad. Our server was good but could work on his knowledge of the beer they serve to offer some better recommendations. Everything was tasty and I would definitely come back again.

Not sure why there are only 3 stars, the food, service and atmosphere were all great. We went on a Friday night and made reservations through open table. We arrived early and our table was already set up and ready for us. We ordered the following between our group of 5 people: Fried green tomatoes Toasted ravioli Ribs plate Wood smoked pork chop with mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts Cheeseburger Ahi tuna salad Everything was amazing! The fried green tomatoes were a little soggy and I may not purchase again but the toasted ravioli was worth going back for! The pork chop was a little dry but had excellent flavor and paired well with the mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. The burger was one of the best I’ve tasted and at only $ 10 you can’t beat the price. My friends raved about their ribs and salad too. The wine and tap beer selection were decent and our waiter was attentive and friendly. I can’t wait to go back and try some other menu options as well as their weekend brunch!

This was our first time dining at Overwood and it was Excellent — and we don’t always say that! From the moment we walked in the door(with a mom using a walker) the front of the house staff were so accommodating. Our Awesome server Erin(sp?) was there immediately! Once I told her out first time there and asked for recommendations she was right on point! Plenty of time to enjoy Fried Green Tomato stack and Fried Ravioli — which were both very good. Our entrees came after we had time to enjoy the appetizers!(which very rarely happens, unfortunately). Awesome meatloaf(90 year old mom said almost as good as hers!) Parmesan crusted flounder melted in your mouth and husbands ribs were so tender. Sides of roasted Brussel sprouts and onion straws were worth the extra money. We will be back again and hope we are lucky enough to be there on a night when Erin can wait on us again. A Great server Always makes the whole dining experience a success!
