I’m not sure why this place gets such bad reviews. It’s in an old strip mall shopping center and has a bodega feel. It’s not fancy, at all, so if you can get past that, then you’ll be fine. I think the food is great, I’ve ordered the chicken bowl several times with noodles and it’s always really good. Their shrimp rolls are also quite fantastic. My wife and I can eat here for around $ 25, and that includes our meals and each getting an appetizer of the spring rolls and sodas. For this area, that’s a bargain.

The place was a bit dirty. The bow itself smelled like dirty dish water. The broth couldve been better. The glass of water was just plain tap water. My lunch meal for 1 came up to 20 including tip. Oh and there are flies in there! One thing I really disliked was the spoons and chopsticks just bundled up on the table. That is not sanitary. I can touch all spoons if I wanted to.

Not sure why so many negative reviews on this one. I absolutely love Phở — this place makes a decent bowl and crispy spring rolls.

After passing by this restaurant many times, I finally got around to try this place since my son was at a birthday party nearby. My husband and I ordered a bowl of beef phở and chicken phở along with an order of the summer rolls as well as a side of the onion in vinegar. I thought the food was fine — not bad, but it didn’t really stand out from other phở places. We both ordered small bowls and I thought that they gave plenty of food. Service is like most phở places — doesn’t really exist other than the bare minimum. I had to flag down our server for water.

Even though the place was not busy, my group had a hard time getting a waitress to serve us. The food was okay, nothing to write home about. The phở could have used a little more meat. I would only recommend this place if you can’t find anything else.

The worst phở place I’ve ever been to. We came here for lunch today. The place was empty(and dirty and dusty and outdated) so that should’ve been the first sign of disappointment. My bf ordered his meat to be «on the side»(raw) and it came out in the bowl, not on the side. Terrible– such a simple request, and all phở places should understand this. We ordered«spring rolls» but they gave us summer rolls instead. Any Vietnamese place I’ve ever been to calls spring rolls the crispy rolls, not the clear summer rolls. I told the waitress we meant the crispy spring rolls and she gave us a weird look and said«you mean fried egg roll??» Egg rolls are Chinese, what is so hard about this concept? The broth was gross and barely any meat in it. Didn’t seem too fresh either. Very disappointing. Once we got to the register, our total was nearly $ 30 for a 20 min lunch. They still charged us for the summer rolls that we never asked for. I was so upset I just wanted to get out of there. Never coming back– absolutely terrible atmosphere and food! And a waste of money!

If i had to give this place a –1, i would give it a –10. This place is just awful. The broth had a mildew-ish smell. and the meat(brisket) tasted old. I cant seem to swallow it down. So I just sat there depressed as hell, waiting for my friend to finish his food. Its dusty and dull in there. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone for their safety!

I especially like the chicken phở better than others I’ve had. I’d give it 4 stars but the service is awful. I stopped eating in and started just taking it to go since it was so bad. Never once smiled at or welcomed. I can handle that but what is a bummer is when you are ordering something that has condiments like jalapeños you think you could get a drink refill. Most of the time you can’t even do the normal thing and catch their attention. It’s like they give you the food and hide from you. Last time I ate there I had to walk up to front to get refill, and they didn’t even apologize. It’s convenient so I still get it to go, but so weird they don’t even make an attempt. Never once was I asked how food was after delivered either.

Sub-par, mediocre. I decided to check this place out without reading the reviews and I’m not sure if it was an off night or they know how to mess up phở. Didn’t think it was possible but was disappointed. Ordered spring rolls and phở. The spring rolls weren’t wrapped well and the peanut sauce was very watery. Phở hardly had any meat and when I asked for the sprouts and the basil, the server said they ran out but then 2 minutes later, they appeared. I’m not sure if the server was just annoyed or didn’t really want to check with the back, but it was very odd. A little pricey as well.

The phở soup here is too sweetly spiced for me– I can’t identify the flavor but I know its not as savory and delicious as other restaurants. Add-ins were fresh, and they make good bubble tea and have a variety of other dishes to try, so maybe I’ll go back one day when I don’t have my stomach set on a great bowl of phở!

We are vegans. My wife says five stars I say four but the portion size is exceptional. First off I am NOT a fan of Phở. It’s dirty sock water with noodles and bean sprouts. All other Phở places except this one qualify on this criteria. We ordered tofu in our soup. Perfectly fried. Could have used a few more chunks but for the price who is counting. Six bucks for the huge small size seven for a bathtub. The ingredients were fresh and the broth tasty. No signs of what I hate. Took half home. Wasn’t quite as good as fresh. We loved the peanut sauce on the fresh spring rolls. Best I’ve ever had. Ice tea was also very good. We are foodies. I only give ratings when they are five star. This place is getting lower ratings than it deserves. I gave a five for my wife and this reason.

Has always been a childhood favorite of mine since I’ve lived in the area and my go to is always a large phở Bowl and the fresh spring rolls. That peanut sauce will make anything taste amazing. Now I’ll agree with everyone else here when they say that broth is a little off. Tastes a bit like salty, lemongrass and licorice. The crew there is immensely friendly there and is obviously tight knit and family run. They always recognize me and are about as polite as can be. + points for the little Buddhist shrine by the door.

I’ve been to Phở Kim several times and have always had a pretty good experience. Now, I am not saying that it is the best Phở that I have ever had, that was Mrs. Kim’s aka the soup lady in Saigon but since Unilocal isn’t in Vietnam yet I will have to settle for rating Phở Kim’s fare. For me, it is all about the broth and I have always been satisfied this restaurant’s efforts. Of course, I do miss deep fried summer rolls that many other Phở shops offer and the service is just ok, but on the whole this is a phoshop worth the stop.

I’ve been to many phở shops and I never had BAD phở before coming here. Phở broth that tastes like salt water. Worst phở ever. When I commented on my displeasure with the food to the waitress, she just looked at me like I was crazy. Poor product and indifference to customer satisfaction makes Phở Kim a place to pass. Fortunately several exceptional phở places are within a few miles.

In the spirit of exploration and to get my tummy filled, I decided to stop into this phở place without looking at the Unilocal reviews. Sure, that’s dangerous territory, but I thought, it’s close to my house and you can’t mess up phở, so why not. I was wrong. You *can* mess up phở. I got my large(and expensive — why is it so expensive here?) order of phở to go and went on my way. Got home, and saw that their«large» is more a regular size at other places. The broth was waaay to anise-y and flavorless… it was like they tried to cover the lack of flavor by adding lots of salt and MSG(which didn’t work). The bean sprouts were still really wet and not fresh at all. It made me nervous(as a preggo lady, you can’t be eating poorly washed food) so I took an extra step and nuked the broth with the sprouts to make sure it was well cooked. The meat was tough and just okay. The next morning, I was SO swollen from all the sodium — I had turned into the Stay Puft Marshmellow Man overnight and my husband tried to shoot me with his proton pack. True story.

There are so many Vietnamese restaurant in Northern Va. I have been many places too. This is a very small restaurant at the corner of shopping center near my friend’s home. Taste is not bad. But expensive(Once you order, you will figure out amount of noodle provided. I could not understand why they used the term«Large» instead of «small» Regular size should be named«Very small») The service is something I have to warn you. I am not sure whether it was individual problem who served us that day or every employee does same thing. But I do not accuse every one over there. Six of my friends shared same opinion that day. Out table was –I will say-less than 8feet from the register. When my friend want to pay the bill, we were told«You must pay at cash register» We are the only customers that time. She preferred us to come to pay“ We could not figure out a few thing about this place. I wish business that owner reads the comments. But I doubt ——

Pretty standard phở, I have not been disappointed here. Nothing going to blow you away and not too many options, but to avoid driving anywhere farther away, you will be pleased with the food here if you have a phở craving.

Came here for lunch on a weekday afternoon expecting to see a small lunch crowd but the place was almost empty. On the plus side the service was fast. Just about everything else here was either sub-par or mediocre at best. The broth(which imho is primarily what makes or breaks a phở restaraunt) lacked that beefy depth of flavor and tasted quite bland. Meat was decent but was a very skimpy portion. Even the plate of herbs/garnishes that accompanied my phở was dissapointingly small. The prices were a little bit higher then other phở places I have been to in the Maryland area but that may just be a reflection of the relative affluence of the nova/dc area. Doubt I will be returning here any time soon.
