Closest food to actual Mexican food around here even though the owner is Korean, the carne asada tacos didn’t have that street taco taste but the rest of the food looked okay. Will have to try their other dishes.

Taco Jalisco is about as close to authentic Mexican food as you can get in northern Virginia. The tacos and tostadas are simply amazing with asado, lengua, or al pastor. I’ve been there at least ten times and I’ll continue to go back every time I’m hungry, but don’t have the money for a flight to Mexico. I love it. My family loves it. We love to go there at least once a month. Order fried onions and peppers to garnish your order when you go; you’ll thank me. Personally, I get two tacos, a tostada, and top them off with Valentina hot sauce for a full meal. Taco Jalisco is a truly authentic experience!

Usually hit this place when we are near Ft. Belvoir. Best carne asada and tostadas in town. Really authentic food. Had the soups last time we came and they were excellent.

One of my favorites in South Alexandria. Very humble surroundings with outstanding, authentic Jalisco and Michoacán style food! Order at the front counter and then wait by the grill and kitchen area while you fill up cups of smokin’ rosa y verde salsa. Dine in, or carry out, the regular staff is friendly and fast. They feature a variety of soft drinks, and they even have horchatas on weekends. But, they have no liquor license, so no adult beverages. With food so authentic, that is easily overlooked!

Best Mexican in the immediate area. Just make sure you’re comfortable with Spanish menus or you’ll have trouble ordering. We’ve had many of the dishes and everything’s been good. Cozy atmosphere and offers a military discount.

This place has great tacos and decent fries but its kind of a weird atmosphere. It makes it almost not worth going.

This is near my house so I really wanted to find another great place to eat. Unfortunately not the case. I tried to order and had some questions but the young lady could not speak any English. I mean none. I eventually got the burrito al pastor. It was huge, mostly rice and bean and few small square chunks of pork. And half those chunks were fat and gristle. Their green and red sauces are hot but watery. You pick up your food on the other end but of course this was never explained because of the language barrier. So a lot of yelling was going on. Go somewhere else.

Awesome tacos. Probably the best Mexican joint I found since moving from LA. Been on the hunt for some authentic carne asada and found it here! This is my go to place whenever I’m craving bomb asada tacos and tripe burrito.

Authentic Mexican, eh. I have a hard time remembering paying $ 2.70 per taco from my Juarense friends. We ended up going for the burrito special. Any meat wrapped in a tortilla with rice, beans, lettuce, and tomato. Not a bad deal for close to $ 6. Unfortunately, the meat(my aasada and hubby’s pastor) lacked seasoning. Not really motivated to return considering the price for tacos is a but excessive even with the military discount(which, BTW, isn’t offered with specials, just FYI).

This place has a military discount and is very authentic. How this place works is that you walk up to the front counter and order your food. They then tell you when it’s finished at the opposite side of the restaurant and have you pick it up. I found the prices to be about average compared to the other restaurants in the area. It was $ 12 for a Chicken burrito with rice and beans. Rice and beans are not included with the burrito, but it’s a very big portion. The food is not spicy because it’s authentic Mexican food. Hot sauce it at the tables. All the food is put on plastic plates.

I came here intending the eat in, I relish the time I scouting the ‘burbs for taco dives, but found a place without any vibe to entice diners to linger. All patrons order at the cash register near the door, between this and the kitchen counter were you pick up food are rows of booths. I came here on a Saturday afternoon and found the place deserted, with the ocassional person walking in to pick up call-in orders. I ordered several tacos and a sope. I found the menu to be pretty extensive and the place is definitely authentic, just wish they had wait service and a better vibe. Maybe play some Mexican music or get a TV. Most taco dives that want people to linger over food and booze have TVs. Few Latinos will miss a big soccer match… even for the best taco in the world.

I know and love good Mexican food when I try it and this is definitely good, cheap Mexican food. You and a friend can eat like kings for under $ 30 and that’s getting everything: 2 tortas, tacos, flan, and drinks. Definitely a great local spot to try out. I gave this place four stars because I’ve only been once but I plan on returning!

I ordered a torta al pastor. The pork was dry and gamey, way too much cheap cheese and crema Mexicana. I was impressed with how fresh the bread was. I also ordered a taco de carne asada. It looked a little sloppy and the meat had that same gamey taste that the pork had. Hopefully it was just a bad day but I won’t be going back soon. This place does have a great selection of Mexican sodas. The salsa bar has really good salsa verde. The staff was very friendly and the place was really clean.

Taco’s Jalisco is the next best thing close to Mexican food. Tacos, tortas, Burritos, sopes, menudo, Huevos Rancheros! I eat there occassionally when I feel like something Mexican. I’m from California and this place serves food that I miss eating in Los Angles. I love their Sopes and their Tortas. This is the only place I have found so far that serves traditional Sopes. They are so Delicious! I highly reccomend Taco’s Jalisco to anyone who desires a good, Torta, Burrito or Sope.

This gem along Rt. 1 serves the most delicious sandwiches — tortas — on warm freshly baked rolls. I highly recommend the Cubano — a slice of ham, carnitas(chopped seasoned beef), avocado slices, lettuce and an awesome creamy sauce.
