Our quartet stayed here while playing a concert for the Placitas Artists Series. The rooms were beautiful and the grounds well kept and peaceful. The breakfast and service were fantastic and overall this is the best B&B our group has stayed in. Highly recommend!

Hacienda Vargas was the perfect place for our wedding, the venue was so beautiful, I really lucked out with this gem which was surprisingly affordable. Cynthia helps you plan every step of the way so there are no surprises on the day of. Her team also sets everything up and breaks it all down for you. No stress day of! 5 rooms are included for two nights so we had the wedding party stay with us and it was very nice to not have to worry about coordinating travel on the day and having their yummy breakfast in the morning. I highly recommend Hacienda Vargas!

Had our small wedding here and it was great. Did the ceremony at sunset! And had cake and champagne waiting for us in our room!!! The white wedding cake was great; however, if a small box for the cake it would have been provided it would have been better so we could take it home freeze it and eat it on our first anniversary. We did our wedding in mid-October and it was beautiful.

We celebrated our wedding on June 8th of this year and it hands down one of the very best days of our lives to date. After our initial plans of having an actual«backyard wedding» fell through — we found the Hacienda — which matched our wedding vision perfectly. We wanted a place where we could have a casual, relaxed, beautifully New Mexican wedding and this place fit the bill. Nestled in Algodones this place is a rare green gem! We hardly needed any decorations as this place was just gorgeous all on it’s own. Cynthia was extremely helpful in working me from day one. She was totally on top of things and runs a very organized and tight ship! With that said — if you are interested in having your wedding/event here — they will inform you of their many rules. And keep in mind they are serious about these — so if your guests/family/friends tend to think rules were made to be broken(as many of mine do) you may hear complaints after the fact about this place being too strict with the rules. But honestly as the bride, I was OK with those rules and moreso happy that Cynthia and her staff do their job in enforcing those rules and not relying on me to keep my guests in check. But on that note while there are plenty of rules that are enforced — the Hacienda did work with me in accommodating those requests I had that fell outside of their normal practices. All in all our wedding day was absolutely perfect for us! And the Hacienda eliminated a LOT of potential stressors for the bride and groom both before, during and after the event. My only teeny tiny complaint would be that towards the end of the reception the water dispensers at our drink table were not refilled… it was in the high 90s that day and night and do their best to make sure your guests are not over-served alcohol but water is pretty imperative in making sure folks don’t get too drunk or to dehydrated. But our water dispensers were pretty much empty at 8PM and stayed that way. Granted I’m sure if anyone would have addressed the staff they would have fixed the problem — but at that point I was too busy visiting guests and dancing to deal with it. By the end of the night I just stuck a straw in the ice bucket and drank the melted ice — a little unbride-lady-like but necessary(and might I add refreshing). In any event I would encourage any summer wedding venue to make sure they’re on top of water from the start to the end of the event — but even with that one blip this place still gets 5 stars for their wonderful service and part in making our day so spectacular. Oh also the breakfast at this place is AMAZING!!!

The pros: *Beautiful room with french doors opening onto a green, flowering courtyard. *Breakfast was delicious — Egg soufflé delicately seasoned with fresh rosemary, hash browns, sausage, grilled english muffins, cranberry scones, fresh fruit, etc… *Convenient location situated between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. The cons: *Right next to the train track — the train runs until almost 11 pm and starts up again around 4:30, ensuring a maximum of five hours of sleep for the light to moderate sleeper. *Two giant poodles run free on the grounds. I love dogs and tried to say hello to them. The larger, younger white one jumped all over me and my companion, actually biting her on the arm(no skin broken) which resulted in a bruise the next day. We were unable to enjoy coffee in the courtyard and the mild temperatures in the morning because of the dogs. *Pillows were very flat and uncomfortable. I have very mixed feelings about this place but generally could not recommend it due to the very small amount of sleep we both got and the poodle bite.
