I was taking my high school daughter out last night, found Jiang’s on Unilocal, and decided to give it a try. I’m a fan of Mongolian bbq. We were greeted by a pleasant, but quiet, hostess who seated us and gave us the run down on the how-to’s at their grill. Bowl in hand we went to start our selections. They had a good selection of meats — chicken(plain or spicy), pork, steak(plain and peppered), fish, scallops — you get the idea. Lots of good veggies, sprouts, water chestnuts, bamboo, everything I wanted, and at least eight different sauces. I chose the teriyaki and added garlic, there’s a variety of spice combinations to add as well. Then your choice of noodles rice etc. After enjoying the salad bar(included) our finished main dishes were delivered to our table. It was delicious! The seating was a little close together and the employees were quiet, felt like they were kind of shy. Overall a great meal for about 12 bucks plus drink and tip. I’ll go again!

Took the family there for lunch last weekend. It was not busy. The food was good, our drinks stayed filled. Everyone ate their fill, and had leftovers to bring home. I think it is a good value, considering you can really fill your bowls with enough food to bring home for a 2nd meal.

Put as many as u can on the small bowl smash all the chicken, beef or seafood and vegetables plus the noodles separate plate. Ask the cook which is the best sauce that hey have(its the kicker). Boom its a big bowl of stir fry noodles that the waiter will bring it to your table. Don’t forget the salad and soup while they frying stuff.

This place has a great concept. Came here for dinner with a friend who had dined here several times before. Pick up your tray then you start loading up. You get a small bowl that you load up with your choices of protein; beef, chicken, imitation crab, shrimp, scallops, fish. Then move on to put your veggie choices on top of the meat. You will have to smash it down in the bowl(Remember, I said the bowl was small) in order to get as much of your choices in there. Then chose a wide variety of sauces. They have mini spoons so you can dip and taste test the sauce before you commit. Then they provide what looks like 4oz cups to put your sauce in, choose as many as you like. Then you get a small glass plate for your pan noodles, thin rice noodles or white rice. Load up the plate with all three if you choose. Then turn over your tray of goods to one of the master chefs who will stir fry your concoction while you wait. The server brings it to your table and voila! Now, if you want a second trip it will cost you another $ 3. AND if you are simply planning to take that second trip home, they hit you with another $ 4.99! Really? I am already paying the extra $ 3 for the second trip and since I wanted it to-go they charge more, bummer! So next time I will make sure to load up on my one-trip! They also have 2 soup choices daily with a salad bar. Now, the salad bar was NOT very impressive by any means, but you shouldn’t be there for that part anyways. Dinner obviously cost more than lunch, so next time I will return at lunch with the family.

You can not go wrong with this Mongolian restaurant. The soup and the salad it is a bonus. Alexandra was our server and she was very attentive. The cooks will grill all your ingredients right there under your eyes. O only chose seafood with noodles and it came out delicious. I was very happy with the experience at the Mongolian restaurant from Algonquin Commons.

Delicious food!!! How can you go wrong when you make your own creation. First you pick your protein .I chose steak, scallops and shrimp. I then added veggies of mushrooms, bamboo shoots, green onions, few onions for added flavor, an egg, waterchestnuts, bean sprouts, then you choose your sauce, I chose the teriyaki and a Lil Mongolian BBQ sauce. Last you chose rice, and two different types of noodles or all three if you like. Hand it to the grill chef and he cooks it. It’s 11.99 for dinner and if you want unlimited it’s $ 3 more. Salad and soup is an additional charge check their website. Very good service as well. This was our second time here and not our last.

They cut you off and make you feel like you’re fat… don’t advertise all you can eat and then put a cap on it… Great food but rude service

This place is just okay. I came in once with a friend and made four orders of different stir frys to go. We made some with steak, shrimp and chicken, but no one cared much for the steak and preferred the chicken. It was a little bland but maybe I didn’t chose the right(or enough) sauces. It could’ve used more flavor. I may try ordering off their menu and see if it’s any better.

I used to hit up the location in Vernon Hills, but I believe that location is no longer there and I am so happy there is one within 30 minutes of my house. Ok, the breakdown: 8.99 for lunch — that includes all you can eat soup and salad bar and a bowl of stir fry 1.99 for Iced Green Tea — how can you beat that? Most places are charging around $ 3 for fountain drinks. The soup and salad bar was just ok in my opinion. I was really looking forward to the typical Japanese Ginger Dressing, but alas they only had the standard, Italian, ranch, thousand island, and bleu cheese. They had two soups, hot and sour, and broccoli cheese. I got a little salad and some hot and sour soup. The soup was pretty good and yes, it definitely had a kick. Now for the grill. Our waitress explained the whole system to us and it was very easy to understand. We all opted for just one bowl of stir fry. You start off by picking your protein and veggies — load them up! Then they have multiple sauces that you can try and that was a great option. To finish your stir fry you use the plates provided and to have noodles, rice, etc. Place your tray down with your number and they bring it to you. Our food was really, really good and we were all impressed that it was only $ 8.99. My friend was able to take home her leftovers for free because she did not get the all-you-can-eat option. I will be back, for sure.

If you are craving for some nice stir fry and want it just the way you like then I think it doesn’t get better than this. You pick the ingredients and they make it. Good fresh choices of meats, sea food, veggies and sauces. You also get salad and soup. I really enjoyed the quality of meats and the sauces. Don’t go crazy picking everything up and make something you like — sweet or hot or tangy etc. Mix too much of everything and it won’t taste as good. Decent price and a worthy option. I will be coming back. I recommend the Korean Garlic sauce, it was great. Gum sticks with the check was a nice touch after this.

Nothing to write home about. The place has marginally okay food and a «cheap» feel about the décor and atmosphere. No attention to detail given. The staff had little to no personality and the wait service was also marginally okay. Overall, you would expect a better offering given the location but it felt like something you would find in a strip mall rather than the commons. I would not go again.

Is NYE most restaurants surrounding us were closed, we drove to this area & found Jiang still open for business so we walk in at 8.40pm. Waitress great us in well manners &, said we can stay till 9.15pm(business hour till 9pm) and we are thankful for the additional 15 mins :) As this is our first experience here, foods we ordered are commonly have at home. Service, price & taste is good, environment is quiet(closing hour). The only thing I’ll say not satisfied is their salad & soup… I prefer to have thousandisland dressing but u can’t find here.

Build your own stir fry is small salad bar and soup large selection of meats and fish. And at least 25 – 30 vegetables. Not busy on a Sunday afternoon the food was prepared in the center of restaurant and served quickly It does give one a chance to tweak your favorite dish

Great place on a cold pre thanksgiving day. Love the hot and sour soup. The salad bar is adequate, but the noodles and sauces and veggies, oh my! service is always great and I really enjoyed the Jasmine tea.

If I could I would give Jiang’s three and a half stars, but since I can’t I decided to bump it up to four. While the selection might be limited, they had everything I wanted, so I really do not have room to complain. The cost was reasonable, we did not do all you can eat because my one dish was plenty… I even had leftovers for later. Each dinner comes with a soup and salad buffet. I know some people complained that it is Iceberg lettuce, but the selection of toppings for the salad made it good. There were hard boiled eggs and fresh cooked bacon… yum! The Hot and Sour soup was definitely on the spicy side, just the way I like it. We ordered a pot of tea and then got sodas once we finished the tea. As someone else mentioned the soda was only $ 1.70 with free refills… you don’t see that very often. This is a no frills Mongolian Grill. I enjoyed the food and I think you will too!
