Website says they are open. Drove 20 minutes to arrive and the place is obviously closed. Called the number. It’s been changed, but not updated on the recording. Website makes no mention of the place being closed(for today, temporarily, or permanently), but am really annoyed that there is such an amount of carelessness related to customer service.

Arrived right at 4pm on Sunday with a patio filled with people. We were told that they were only open until 4 even though their website says they are open until 6pm. The rude person had the audacity to question me when I said the website said their hours were until 6pm. I could understand if you were really closing up, but you were still serving multiple tables on your patio. You just turned away two people who just moved to Algonquin and you were rude about it. BIGMISTAKE.

What a great little place. This is more cozy and cool then a Starbucks. If I were a college student I would do my homework here every night. Coffees good, food sandwiches soup great, and the owner Tammy is a sweetheart. It’s places like this that will put downtown Algonquin on the map.

I wanted to rate them higher as it is a local place run by individuals rather than a corporation, but sorry, we were disappointed. Stopped by between an afternoon of many activities. A nice weekday, not too busy, sat outside(that was nice). Got our drinks, waited… waited… waited… Finally went inside to get the waitress to take our order. Then… waited…waited…waited… Very long story short. Two sandwiches and iced tea took them over one and a half hours to feed to us. Yes, 95 minutes and me making FOUR trips to the counter to check in on what the heck was happening just to feed us cold cuts. Because I visited the actual kitchen multiple times to check out what was happening, this is more than a bad server, it is a system wide failure. Separating the absolutely miserable service from the food experience, we found the food just okay. Sandwiches were unique sounding, but not very special flavor wise. Sauces and such that seemed to define the sandwich were applied very sparingly so you really couldn’t taste them. To top it off, the price was extremely high for the type of meal served… not to mention the extensive time consumed on my day off.

Was here this past Sunday and had a amazing Bloody Mary with my friend. Atmosphere was really cute& the staff was super friendly. That bacon on the Bloody Mary was the best thing ever

Since the first day, this is the must stop on our weekly bicycle rides on the Fox River. Incredibly creative works of edibles. Be brave and bring in your hunger for their Bloody Mary’s! Or, if you are looking for a scrumptious ‘after dinner’ desert drink, Adult Shakes will give you what you need.

Freakin amazing! Bloody Mary as a meal. Who would’ve thought? Owner and her niece running the place are the friendliest I’ve met yet. Definitely making this a regular future destination. Thanks!!!

Went back and fell in love. Amazing food and the Bloody Mary is a complete meal. Not just a bunch of pointless sides! Had the chicken little sandwich and it was so tasty with the apples in it. Will be making sure to come back soon!

Honestly the service was amazing and people were so social it had a very retro family feel. My friends and I loved all the food and ice cream. We will definitely be back soon to try more of their sandwiches. Nick was an absolute riot. Best sandwich in the area. Can’t wait to come back

Absolutely loved the atmosphere in this cute little sandwich shop! Food was outstanding and the service was top notch! Nothing but awesome things to say about this little place. Extremely friendly outgoing staff, Nick was hilarious. Everyone went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. As for the food, it was definitely one of the best sandwiches I have had. Cant wait to go back, definitely one of my all time favorites.

Just visited Taste This for the first time, first impression: very cool, trendy place, with a very local and authentic feel to it. I ordered the Painkiller milkshake and the Gilligan sandwich, both were prepared right in front of me and were delicious. The staff is very friendly and attentive. If you are in the area, this is a must since you won’t find one anywhere else.

Short and to the point. Great coffee! They won me on their coffee ice cubes! Genius! Iced coffee using coffee ice cubes so it doesnt get watered down. Simply brilliant.

I’ll try not to write a long update, but just wanted to say… The Mr. Limpitt is still the greatest sandwich you’ll find in Algonquin. The adult milkshakes are as delicious as ever. Yes, the prices are still high, but you get what you pay for… a really, really damn good meal/latte/milkshake. And the staff is still very friendly. If you are looking to dine in Algonquin, there are three places that you must try: Montarra, Cucina Bella, and Taste This Sandwich and Coffee Bar. Obviously Montarra and Cucina Bella are more upscale and are dinner spots, but Taste This deserves to be in the same group because of how high its quality is, even if it’s not serving the same type of meals. Furthermore, downtown Algonquin has a few charming eateries within a hundred feet of each other with Taste This, Cucina Bella and Short Stacks. All three have wonderful staffs and are worth checking out, but Taste This is the one that I recommend when people ask where a good place to stop would be. Unfortunately I no longer live in the area, but when I am back from Chicago for the day, I typically try to accommodate my schedule around a Mr. Limpitt.

I checked out Taste This today on Unilocal recommendation! What an awesome place set right in the heart of downtown Algonquin! Walking in I was greeted by the mother and son owners who helped me narrow down my perfect late lunch! The menu is great including sandwhiches breakfast sandwhiches ice cream coffee drinks and ADULTMILKSHAKES! Hello new mommy playdate location!!! I settled on the big ragu! A vegetarian sandwhich that will hild up to any carnivore! A ton of fresh mozzerella, huge juicy tomatos, Fresh garden leaf basil ad drizzled with a wonderful deep balsamic vinegar. All this grilled to toasty perfection on panini bread! YUM!!! The vibe of this little café is cool and the menu changes with the seasons. Truly felt like I was in a friends kitchen! You will pat yourself on your back for the great decision youve made! I will be back!

Part sandwich shop, part ice cream joint, part coffee bar, and all parts add up to delicious. The owners have dreamed up a very creative menu, and meticulously assemble the food using only top quality and fresh ingredients. All sandwiches come with a choice of one of their sides, and shoestring potato chips. Adult milk shakes(ice cream with liquor or liqueur are all the rage, and this place nails ‘em!

The place is very charming, the people very nice and the food was outstanding. The prices were a bit high but that was very understandable considering the generous portion and the quality. I had the clam chowder and the Open Taylor both were mouth watering and i got the potato salad side(also home made and delicious) and it came with a small container of shoestring potatoes too. The wife got the chili, she said it was very hearty and delicious. it was pretty cool that it came with a container of corn chips instead of the traditional oyster crackers. We also shared a very tasty chocolate shake. This was awesome it was a bit different from other places because it didn’t just taste like hershey syrup. I can’t wait to try one of their adult milkshakes.

Just finished my first sandwich here! Short review– Excellent !! Longer review follows: Please note –I’m very particular about sandwiches, since I proudly make a very renowned multi-layer Italian sandwich. I use very specific and hand selected ingredients. After getting half way this this masterpiece called the Opey Taylor– the owner came by to ask about the food. Here is where I learned Taste This is just as particular about their food, quality, and ingredients as I am. And… The food shows that. Just really good and well balanced sandwiches here. Prices for a sandwich -$ 9.25. Wait! Here you actually get what you pay for. My Opey Taylor had to run a pound. Served on a fresh marble rye. Sandwich served warm with a side of homemade potato salad, shoe string chips, and a pickle. Than there is ice cream and shakes– even adult shakes. Their ice cream supplier is –The Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream– which is a family run ice maker from Wisconsin. The ice cream is probably in the top two ice creams EVER! Do yourself a favor and try out Taste This. Oh and unlike some reviews on Unilocal, for other local Algonquin ‘sandwiches shops’- that I’ve also tried — I’m not an employee or owner of Taste This. So my review, is just an honest opinion.

I have to admit, I was kind of in love before I even tasted the food. Ever walk into a place and you just know it’s going to be good right away? That’s pretty much what you have here. It makes me feel a little bit like I’m on vacation somehow, just sitting inside or in the outdoor area, which they added after they bought the building when Café Firefly closed. I’m pretty excited to have Taste This so close to my house, for sure. I’ll have to come back a few times to get the full scope(I hear good things about the ice cream, coffee, and«adults only» milkshakes), but my sandwich, the Vinny Barbarino, was excellent, and I loved the side potato salad, which is clearly made in house. I finished it off with a fresh squeezed lemonade(delicious) and brought a roasted almond tea home to my wife, which I stole more than a few sips from. I look forward to when the 31 bypass construction is done, because it will make getting to this part of town easier, but in the meantime, it’s well worth fighting some traffic to stop in.
