Just ok… I scheduled a hand relieving manicure and a foot relieving pedicure with a shellac add on for my hands. When I got there and the technician started my hands she did not soak my cuticles first. It was painful actually. She scraped them back the clipped them dry. She didn’t do what I scheduled but instead just started polishing them after cleaning them up. She said she couldn’t do shellac with a hand relieving manicure because the lotion would ruin the polish. Hmmm. I have been to other nail salons who were able to do both. You just wash your hands before you put polish on. Or put lotion on/exfoliate after the shellac is on. I’m wondering why this salon isn’t capable of doing that. There was nothing relieving about this manicure. The shellac polish was not applied correctly and I could see the sides of my nails uncovered. Not worth the money at all. The counter behind the nail tech tables was dirty. Most of the staff seemed snotty and put off by the presence of customers in general. The break room door was left open and the staff could be heard having unprofessional conversations. Awkward. I gave this place a couple tries but never again. I have never gotten my money’s worth out of this place.

Based on my experience over the phone, I wouldn’t use this salon. I attempted to schedule an appointment for a cut & color but the receptionist(or whomever answered) seemed unknowledgeable how to do that. She placed me on hold & returned approximately 5 minutes later to say she needed to put me on hold again to «find out how». I was on hold another 10 minutes & I hung up thinking she forgot I was on the line. I called back & inquired about available appointments & she answered stating she needed to put me on hold again because she still hadn’t asked. No apology for the wait and her tone was extremely unfriendly. After another 10 minutes or so on hold, I hung up. Another salon would value my business; my impression was that it inconvenienced this one. If that was any indication of their level of service, I’m happy I went elsewhere.

Taylor Stevens has been my only salon for I am guessing over ten years. Stacey has been cutting my(short) hair for years, and she is impeccable! She is incredibly talented and provides completely honest feedback. She’s an amazing conversationalist, and the comfort level was there from the moment I met her. For anyone who knows what a sacred relationship you have with your stylist is, I can tell you that you are safe with her! The front desk staff is always welcoming and professional. I have also had my eyebrows waxed here, and I couldn’t believe how I barely felt it because of their amazing wax. A billion thumbs up!

Got a Brazilian wax done, not my first one. I had come here a couple times before and was disappointed. However, this time I had Jeanette as my esthetician and was very grateful! She was very friendly and laid back. She even took the time to pluck the strays after the wax, which their other esthetician didn’t take the time to do. She even gave me advice on avoiding ingrown hairs which the other esthetician listened but just to make conversation not to be helpful(as she gave me no advice to rectify the issue) If you’re going to schedule any wax appt, I really recommend Jeanette!

New to the area… BAD experience!!! Very expensive salon… HORRIBLECOLOR done that ruined my hair. They couldn’t fix it… Owner does NOT care about making the customer happy, only making money! I have been going to TS for a few years, and my hair always looks amazing. Trish does a fantastic job; she is a colouring guru and my cuts are great. The salon staff are friendly and knowledgeable regarding Aveda products. It is always a treat when I go to my appointments.

My original review was a one star, but after speaking with the owner i am bumping this up to a four star. Andrea(owner) completely took care of my issues in a very professional manner. She had me come in and fixed the issues from a precious color and cut at this salon. Thank you so much for taking the time to fix my hair and allowed me to leave happy!

Fantastic treatment! I was greeted by a friendly woman who offered me a drink while I waited for my hair appointment. The atmosphere is relaxing and everyone is very friendly. I got a cut, color, my brows waxed, and my make up done for my date that night. My hair color and cut is the BEST I ever had! The woman Stephanie who did my make up was such a fun woman to chat with and gave me a beautiful natural look. My appointment was on may 9th. I’m so glad I received a gift card to this great salon! I must say this is the first salon I’ve been to where the employees are not total snobs!

Took my daughter here for her first eyebrow waxing. Walked in without an appointment so we had to wait, understood, my mistake. Annie is spot on about the lack of maturity at the front desk. My daughter was apprehensive about getting the procedure done, she wanted me in the room with her. The person doing the waxing showed attitude when I came in the room, maybe she didn’t want someone in there or maybe because dads don’t usually do this with their girls, whatever. Got it done, tipper her and got out. We’ll find another place.

So very disappointed. I’m not a big girly girly but decided to splurge on my 3rd ever no chip. Was told it will last 2 weeks. Well the nail job itself is amateurish and now after 6 days one nail is chipped and the other has peeled off! I’m on break, I’m not even doing anything!!! Very disappointed — my nails looks soo shoddy and embarrassing.

I had a great experience here. I had Danielle as my stylist. She was great. I’m really not into the girly experience, and she honestly educated me on the different products, and ideas for my always a mess of a do! Also, I love Aveda products but sometimes when I go to Aveda salons, I feel really out of place because I’m not all done up or barbie sized. Here, everyone was«human.» I appreciated that. I’ll def be back.

I had been going to this salon to see Tiffany since early 2013. I had received good haircuts, but recently, my at experience at this salon went from good to bad. I had scheduled to have my base color touched up. Bad idea! I was told I would get a slightly richer color but not darker. As I sat alone for more than 50 minutes with dark dye on my hair, I knew this wasn’t the light golden brown I had asked for to match my then-current color. My hair is now dark cherry(brassy and fake) brown. After calling three times – and getting no call back – to ask if washing my hair would make it lighter, I finally spoke to Tiffany who didn’t seem particularly sorry that I wasn’t happy with my service. I was to come back in for them to put a «gloss» on it to correct the brassiness but I got nervous after my first color experience there. I called to say I was worried my hair would get damaged putting more color on it so close after the first application. A week later, I called to speak with manager Stephanie and I received an attitude because she said I had cancelled«at the last minute»(for a trip back to that salon I shouldn’t even have had to make). I had called Stephanie to ask if I could use my regular Garnier Olia color to cover up the red color. Never got the chance to ask. All I know is this salon doesn’t understand what good customer services constitutes. I now do not recommend Taylor Stevens Salon any longer – too stressful and not Aveda-like at all.

I travel for a living and the people here are great about fitting me in at the last minute. The individuals at reception are warm, professional, and courteous. Very happy with Heather who has been cutting my hair for a few years now. Overall wonderful experience.

Glad I didn’t read the reviews before going to this place. made a next day appointment, without hassles, my stylist Trish was running on time and did an amazing job on a color touch-up, her personality was great and very professional. I’d definetely go back to her, and highly recommend. The vibe of the salon is nice without being stuffy. Perks include 50% off coupons for future visits as well as may other coupons they throw in. Love it!

I am always embarassed for the managers who hire the uneducated, immature staff at the front desk. I have a six letter last name; I shouldn’t have to repeat it three times. When I used to go in to buy my products, I’d automatically pull out my DL to give my last name b/c it was so frustrating. I now get my product at Spa Bleu where at least they’re not dingbats. Salon Couture in Elgin is another Aveda spa who deserves the business, plus, they have a coffee joint right next to it! As for a service; I rec’d one massage at their other location in Lake in the HIlls/Alg off Alg. Rd., and was treated very nicely, but asked TWICE for gratuity! Once from the massage therapist and once from the check out girl. I get it… I’ll make my decision about gratuity. Kristin the nail tech at the Commons location did a great job on my toes and was easy to talk to — impressed me that she didn’t say«like» every other word.

I like Aveda products and usually like Aveda spas/salons. I expect a higher level of customer service at Aveda salons… silly me. 4 – 5 people standing at the front desk, and I still waited in line for 10 minutes while someone couldn’t get a receipt to print up properly for the customer in front of me. No one thought to help me… all I wanted to do was pay my bill and go back to have my service completed. The towels they use on clients during mani’s and pedi’s are rough and old. My manicure is definitely not worth $ 40. A few spots where the polish was thin, and uneven on the side of my nail. Way too much polish ended up on my cuticles… just wanted to leave when I was done. I would expect cutting corners at some other salons/spas, but not with Aveda… once again, silly me. I just won’t be going back.
