This place over exceeded my expectations, the service, the beers and the bartender. You have a tablet with plenty of options and descriptions. Prices are good, quality is amazing and time is their priority. Definitely coming back

3 stars… Thirsty on a Friday and promised my love a happy hour… we stopped here! $ 2 off selected beers and cocktails, so we tried a few of each, but had to ask for the discount when we noticed not all our drinks were discounted on the bill. As for the food there are a few items that are discounted so we chose the fish tacos, BBQ sliders, and tempura green beans. Tacos were crispy and covered with a tasty spicy sauce. Sliders were smoky and the slaw carried just the right amount of crunch. The beans were crispy and served with a lemon aoli… but not nearly enough. Only issue for us was a bit lacking in service. Our sliders came out as fries and took far too long to correct. We also asked for more aoli, but it was forgotten and never made it to our table. Good local beer selection and all ordered food was very tasty. Ambiance is boomtown hipster Bar hall, and prices are in line with expectation. This joint does not make the list this time, but it has good chances… we will return to sample more faire in the near future… stay tuned!

It really makes me sad that I cannot allow myself to give this place 4 or even 5 stars after what had happened recently. I used to be a frequent here, but these past few months I’ve been working. Something within the time span of 6 months, and the past 2 months of me coming in and out, the standards that were once present at this fine establishment have sincerely gone down. On Friday, January 15, 2 of my friends and myself went out to celebrate my best friend’s birthday. We were hoping for a nice night out, and we were first seated at one of our favorites places(this place) we figured nothing could go wrong. Well that was, until we got our waitress. At first glance we thought she was going to be the usual fair, enthusiastic about working at 38 degrees, and filled with knowledge about beers and spirits, much as the 3 of us who came out were. Previously I had been given a waitress whom, like myself, had a passion for beer. But this waitress seemed off, but we decided to pay little mind. She asked about drinks and appetizers, and we did just that. We ordered 3 cups of water, 2 glasses of Dalmore 12, 18 piece chicken wings, and an order of calamari. The drinks came without a hitch, and now it was the appetizers. I noticed 2 appetizers come out and figured they were ours. The server took it to a different table and when she noticed that it was wrong, she took it back. 6 – 7 minutes later, those very same appetizers came to our table. Moments later when we were nearing the end of the appetizers, our waitress finally appears and she begins to collect our menus when I said, «we’re ready to order some main dishes.» She looks at me and says, «okay.» We ordered the Duck Burger, Rabbit Burger, and Backyard Burger. She took our menus and was to have supposedly put them in. Now it gets distasteful. 17 minutes later, our waitress returns and asked if we wanted a refill on water. So we graciously approved. We did not notice at the time, what she had refilled it with. When one of my friends picked up the water glass he noticed that there were several particles in his water. We all looked at our glasses and noticed the same thing. I tasted the water and noticed that they have all been laced with some citrus material, possibly lemonade. We couldn’t find our waitress anywhere, but we did see one of the floor managers walking around. Though I didn’t want to disturb him I willed the courage and kindly pointed out what had happened. He apologized and said«oh that’s not right at all.» He took all 3 glasses and replaced them with clean water. Well at least we thought it was. My best friend(who’s birthday it was) abruptly told me that it was dish water as he could taste an extreme flavor emitting from the glass, as well as an odor. I was guessing maybe it was clorox since some restaurants do do that to help sterilize water. Having worked in food service at one point in my life I wasn’t that surprised. And not a grand total of 30 minutes after appetizers have been collected, we noticed again that our waitress was no where to be found. We also noticed that people who ordered mains after ourselves had begun to receive their food, and ours was no where to be found. Finally 40 minutes rolled over, and our waitress finally shows up and asks us if we wanted anymore drinks or appetizers. My friends and myself looked at her rather crossed and bewildered, and finally I just said with a stern, «No. Just the bill. And please, remove the 3 burgers that we ordered that NEVER arrived.» She looked completely dumbfounded and had that look as if, «oh you ordered food?» She brought the bill and after we calculated the bill again to make sure she didn’t hide any charges, I paid the bill in cash. For the first time ever, I did not leave a tip. Something that even if you were rude, I would’ve still done because as I said prior, I worked in food service as a waiter and I know how hard it can be. But never once was I rude to a customer, if anything I’d be apologizing over-and-over. I walked out and saw Mr. Clay Harding, the owner and founder of 38 Degrees at the door. I decided not to say anything because my friends and myself were incredibly hungry and it was still my best friend’s birthday. It had been ruined by this already, and I didn’t want to make it worse. I took to Instagram and posted my complaints tagging 38DegreesLA. Mr. Harding commented on my photo and apologized as well as left his number. I called him and left a message and have yet to hear back. But regardless, the fact he even went that far on Instagram, I gave him a second star for that courtesy. I have yet, again as I said prior, to hear back from him to express my concerns of his establishment’s falling standards, as well as have made any decisions about going back. I want to give this place another chance, especially since I’ve been here numerous times before and this was the only time I had a problem. But the jury is still out.

Very nice service. For a Saturday night, before 9pm, didn’t have to wait to get seated. I didn’t know what drink to order but I told our waitress only two things i wanted in my drink, tequila & to be fruity, and she brought me the perfect one AWESOME. Now you are able to see & select your drink on a ipad that the waitress provides you as soon as you seat down, modern. The chocolate cake was good, surprisingly. It was too loud but it was expected since there’s a football game going on. I didn’t try their food so no comment about it, sorry guys ^_^

This is my favorite gastropub — the only one I frequently visit, whether it be to sip on a beer, explore a new flight, watch a game, have a date, etc. The rotating beer selection is enormous, but the very knowledgeable and friendly staff make picking so much easier. And if you’re shy, you can find profiles of each beer on the iPads given. They also have several rarer beers I have seen in very few places like the Firestone Parabola, 15th, and 16th anniversary brews. Ugh. drooool. My beer palate has definitely matured thanks to 38. While there are plenty of nearby restaurants, the food is great. Happy hour includes fairly-priced tacos, flatbreads, fries, and several other yummy plates. The burgers I’ve tried have been very juicy, flavorful, and satisfying. Bottom line, I recommend this place to everybody. If you’re visiting Alhambra and got time to kill, swing by 38.

HAPPYHOUR4−7pm on weekdays! Well drinks were only $ 3 and there are also cheap bites as well on the happy hour menu —chorizo flatbread: nothing amazing, the crust was a bit dry and hard —sticky fries: very indulgent with the gravy and cheese, just okay but definite ask for the chili aioli for dipping! Interesting that they leave iPads on your table so you can see the menu but they also have paper menus

LOVEDTHISPLACE for dinner and drinks with friends! Ambience: –it’s dimly lit, perfect for drinks, food, and hanging out with friends. –it’s sort of like a Yardhouse feel, except not too«fancy». Food: –thirty-eight burger:(substituted sweet potato fries for $ 2) This burger was amazing! I cut the burger in half, and definitely couldn’t finish the whole thing. The one thing that made it amazing was the garlic aoili dipping sauce on the side. HEAVENINMYMOUTH! i couldn’t get enough. it’s perfect to dip your french fries/sweet potato fries in. Drinks: –they let you sample any type of beer you want, which is really great, especially when you have no idea what all the unique beers taste like. it makes you more inclined to be adventurous. –there’s an ipad at the table for you to search through the drink menu. you can even«search» for your favorite type of drink as well. super cool! Service: –Our waitress was super friendly. She had a lot of tables to wait on so it didn’t really bother us that things took a little longer. I will definitely come back for happy hour or whenever i’m back in the area.

Been here for brunch and happy hour. Both had good food options and were fairly priced. From what I recall though, the drinks were a little on the expensive side for happy hour. But I might have ordered off the happy hour menu, so don’t quote me on that. Big enough place to seat a big party. A perfect bar alternative to the other Asian restaurants around downtown Alhambra.

We received outstanding service from Megan! She restored my faith in the existence of friendly and helpful servers. She met all of our requests and answered our questions with enthusiasm even though we called her several times to clarify a confusion about the 50% off a stater deal with an entrée. As for the food, I shared an el chamuco burger with a friend(Megan offered to split it for us and it was served beautifully between us). The burger was ok and the sauce was pretty bland. The fries were kinda stale and lukewarm. We also had a flight of beers which were all good.

A great place to grab a drink after work or just chill with your friends. It’s dark with mood lighting so at least you aren’t overstimulated after a long day at work. Plus, if you’re on a date, they automatically look better! hah! They have a great selection of beer and best of all, they have my favorite, cider! The backyard burger was pretty yum paired with the sweet potato fries. Nothing special about the burger, but the meat was cooked exactly how I ordered it! For dessert, I ordered the warm bread pudding as per a recommendation from the waitress and she did not steer us wrong. The person enjoying the dessert with me was not a sweets person but gladly helped me finish it clean! It’s definitely a chill place and I love that I only live a few blocks away!

Very good place to game a sports game. They have TV pretty much everywhere so no matter where you sit you can watch a sports game reasonably. I’ve gotten their beer samplers and a burger before and its not bad but nothing special. Its on of the few good Pubs near Alhambra/Monterey Park so maybe thats why its popular. They have free wifi which is a plus! Their Happy Hour isn’t great. They have $ 2 off Beers, Cocktails, etc but ONLY a select FEW… and by FEW I mean 2 – 3 beers. And yes, their lightest and most watered down beers. Food is pretty on point though for Happy Hours.

I come here way too often for me to not leave a review, haha. let’s fix this: 1. check their Facebook or website to stay up to date on their tap list/events! theres so many awesome events and tap there, this is a must. if you are a beer fan this place is it, so many rotating craft brews! 2. tempura. fish. tacos. so good, the batter is flavorful and fish is really big. the spicy sauce on top is so delicious as well. definitely my #1 favorite there. its three large tacos. 3. tatsoi chicken salad and cobb salad for your salad fixes, its really big and hearty! 4. 38 has never wronged me on their burgers! you can also ask for a salad instead of their fries on the side but their fries are crispy and delicious. their garlic alioli is good too! their servers are sometimes spotty, but in general super kind and pretty knowledgeable. we had a server yesterday who seemed kind of new, but he was still super accommodating! so happy this is close to our house, one of my fav place to go for good food + beer!

Great place to grab a beer. And cocktails if beer isn’t for you. I am a beer man, so beer me please. Place is pretty big so it can accommodate large parties. I could see it getting crowded but hey that’s what happens when you’ve got a good thing on your hands. Plenty of things to do around downtown Alhambra so why not stop by for a drink. They have iPads at your table so you can look at the menu and all the drinks. They have a pretty good selection of brews I’d say. The cool part is that you could click on whatever beer and it gives you an entire description of what is taste like etc. However, you would think you can order from the iPads but that isn’t the case. It’s just there as a virtual menu. Service was friendly, prices weren’t too bad. I would definitely come back here. And there is plenty of public parking nearby in the parking structures. Free of charge!

Okay, I’ll give it a 4 plus. Brilliant selection of craft beer coupled with flavorful grub. JL and I came here for dinner and drinks with friends and ended up eating way too much food. Not that it’s such a bad thing. Started off with the Mumford Hop Ration and The JJ Desert Snow White IPA’s paired with calamari, tempura fish tacos, and a Backyard Burger. The beverages cut the spiciness of the fish tacos, as they were burn your face off hot. We ordered the Backyard medium and it was so damn juicy and perfect. The triple ground angus with bacon, thousand, onions, and tomatoes were a match made in burger heaven. Sabroso! As if we didn’t eat enough, we also ordered the bbq pork sliders, regular sliders, and wings. Word to the wise, be sure to order extra drinks when ordering the wings because they will melt your face off. The Ipad menus seem like a good idea, in theory. However, they don’t make the beer selection or ordering process much easier. As JL stated, it would have been nice if the beer menu was broken down by category. Totally agree. I know, kind of a lame but if you’re going full on interactive, why not really kick it into high gear? Not a big deal, but just a thought. Other than that, really liked the descriptions when you clicked on the link. Overall, loved the service, loved the food, and can’t wait to come back!

One of my friends just classed up at a professional school at USC, and we met up with her classmates here. We were a group of 30, and it was a last-minutes reservation, but the restaurant did a good job of attending us. I ordered their steak fritte, and I ordered my steak rare. Well, it came out super-rare, which I actually like. They asparagus was good, albeit stubborn. The fries were ok, but I usually don’t eat fries. I also ordered two redbull vodkas, and they were made well. The waitress was amazingly efficient, considering that she was taking care of 30 of us. I had a wait of about 15 minutes for my food, and a few minutes for everything else. The food was as great as their service. Check it out.

They probably call it 38 degrees because that’s the temperature they use for their beer(stated my husband). I think he’s right. Pretty good beer selection! I would come for apps and beers, not so much dinner I’ve been here for lunch and dinner and enjoy the food. Service is pretty quick and super friendly. My favorite thing on the menu are the fries– but not the ones found on the steak and frites. The separate order of shoe string fries are the ones I like the most!
