Budget Rent A Car

Just like many others, I reserved a truck 5 days in advance and got a phone call less than 24 hours of my reservation saying there is no truck left for pick up on my reservation day. Stay away from this company!!!

Absolute worst experience renting a vehicle. We rented a moving truck for a 4 day moving trip and were told we could pick it up during open hours Sunday starting at 9 am. We arrived at 9:45 and the extremely rude front desk workers told us that since we weren’t there at 9 am they rented our truck to someone else. Then they tried to rent us a truck with dangerously damaged tires. We left and went to UHaul and will not be conducting with Budget ever again.

I have been renting trucks here for over 6 months. After today’s terrible experience I will never return. A 16′ truck was rented for two days. I received it at jus hair under full tank of gas. So that’s what I returned it under. The guy at the desk (older gentleman) no greeting told me I would be charged $ 10 gas fee because I didn’t fill it up full. I got into an argument stating the facts and the fact that I have been a loyal customer for months and had already spent thousands with their company. Still at the end they still took the $ 10 from me and didn’t even add it to their receipt. So basically they stole the money from me.
Really deceptive and terrible with their customer service. I even asked the female that was there that I was certain she was the manager and she denied being in charge!
DO NOT RENT HERE. You get what you pay for, will get nickel and dimed to death here.

Budget Rental Truck and this location have deceptive business practices. My rental for 5 days was $ 94.15. I dropped off my truck on the 5^th day as told when I picked up in Portland Oregon. I had until 4pm Sunday when they closed. They charged my card $ 96.16 for an extra day because they say it should have been there at 10AM. In the contract it says drop off and pick up times are preferences.” The pickup location, drop-​off location, time of rental and date of rental selected in a reservation is a preference only and if a preference selected is not available”. I’m still on hold about 35 mins getting a hold of a supervisor. Budget Rental has poor customer service and I would take your business elsewhere where they are more up front about what you are getting into. DO NOT RENT HERE!

Worst car rental management. Extremely unprofessional and constantly argues with the customer. Come at your own risk.

I brought my completed rental contract in that I printed from Budget’s website for a compact car. After greetings, they then tried to force liability insurance for $ 9.95. I said my company insures me, and they asked me to prove it with a document. When I said I’d leave, have it printed out, and then return, they told me they would then have to call the insurance company to verify everything, and it might take days since it was a weekend. Lie #1. When I pointed to the tiny blue sign that they conveniently put against the back, next to their printer (Enterprise and other companies put it on the entrance wall or on the counter) that said they can’t push insurance on customers, nor are they qualified to evaluate third-​party insurance, the clerk replied «This is California, you need insurance and that law doesn’t apply to us.» Lie #2. I have insurance, but they won’t accept it, and that law DOES apply. However, I didn’t want to go through the trouble so I agreed to pay extra, even though I knew I was in the right. When the contract came and it was time to initial/​sign everything, I got down to the fine print and they tried to secretly add an additional $ 10.95 personal injury insurance item, on top of third party liability. I said I didn’t want it since I’m covered by both my company and also my personal insurance, but they also said this was required, and would not rent me a car without it. Lie #3. When I called her out and asked why she didn’t they tell me this earlier, and instead tried to sneak in $ 10.95 on top of $ 9.95 at the last minute, the female clerk gave me a blank stare. She was caught. Car or not, I decided to leave. I’d rather walk than deal with CROOKS. (I ended up renting at another company in the area).

Simply, this Budget location does not know how to do inventory management or to hold a truck for a reservation I made 3 weeks prior to the pick up. Less than 24 hours to go until the pick up time, Jackie or whatever calls me and tells me all the trucks are sold out. I was in disbelief. Thank you so much. I SHOULD HAVE PAID ATTENTION TO THE OTHER REVIEWS.
This location should be shut down.
The f***ing reason for not fulfilling my reservation? Simply, the person explains someone extended their rental period.
So is this how rental car companies work: your reservation made well in advance is at the mercy of other renters?
Other than customer service number provided, the person did not even offer anything. What a shame…

horrible experience I did the online rsvp like ten days before I am going to move but they told like two day before the i am going to move that they dont have truck i want and there are none of the truck available for rent in the near by location. WTF
And cuz they got the promotion my friend ask me to rent a truck for her so the same thing happened again but this time I rsvp only 6 days ahead so they didnt even told me they dont have the truck on that day. Luckly from the previous experience I called in a day ahead so i knew they dont the truck. But common… Never budget truck rental for me ever again. what a waste of time and more time writing this review.

Wow, just wow. Congrats, Budget Rent a Car, you guys just got the first 1 star review I ever had to write. I wish I took a look at all the negative reviews here before I called them, because then I wouldn’t have wasted my time.
I just tried to book a car from them. I initially tried to do it through Kayak but for some reason it would not let me do it despite trying it several times at different days. So I decided to call them. The lady on the other line was not necessarily rude at first but she also wasn’t polite. They said they could honor the Kayak deal but without the unlimited miles that was on the Kayak website, which was understandable to me.
It was overall an okay experience until I asked a simple yes or no question. There was silence on the other line for at least ten seconds after my question, so I said «hello?» to which she very brusquely said «Yes.» So… she heard my question but decided not to answer it? And when she did decide to answer it, she decided to be rude about it? OR she just wasn’t paying attention at all to what I asked? Then, I mentioned that I was going to do a drop off at noon. The lady then rudely and very condescendingly said, «A DROP OFF at NOON?» as if I was dumb for doing that. She proceeded to tell me that we would be charged for a whole day for that, which I am familiar with – this is not my first time ever renting a car. There’s a very valid REASON WHY I’m going to drop off at noon and NOT earlier. I got fed up with her condescending attitude and decided to not use their services. They then hung up without saying a word.

Kit, the attendant on Sundays, offers POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! She arrives late to open and then treats the customer like an annoyance. Maybe she doesn’t like to work on Sundays? If she doesn’t, she should just stay home. I’ve been a longtime customer (7 plus years) and only seem to have problems when she is behind the counter. If it weren’t for the others offering superior customer service, I’d never come back.

Got a personal ride back to the body shop. Much appreciated. Also, they only rent toyotas. Cuz American cars are for chumps.

This place reminded me of the time when Unilocal removed my top comment from Amy’s baking company causing me to lose almost 3000 funny’s. Yes, this place is that bad.

Horrible horrible service. Never coming here again. The girls at the front are rude. My truck delivery was nearly two hours late and when I called to ask how much longer the receptionist tried to give me the number of the other customer to call and ask when the truck would arrive. UNPROFESSIONAL. Please save yourself the headache and rent through someone else.

This place is terrible. The service is lousy and the people are extremely rude. I will not be using Budget rentals again.

Worst car rental company ever.
Car was not ready by the time we picked up. They said they didn’t get the booking even we show the reservation receipt. They didn’t try to make you happy by giving you the similar car because that available one is brand new and we need to pay more for it. Hours waiting for the «old car» came back and that’s our schedule delay and they can’t do anything about it. Go rent your car from lax or Burbank airport. U get more flexible schedule and more friendly customer service.

Wish I could give ZERO stars. There’s only one person who speaks English at this location, and it’s the teenager that will add illegal charges to your bill. I tried to drop off my rental car, which had brake issues and terrible handling, and the whole office was closed and gated. Nowhere to drop off keys. No one to call. No warning they would be closed. And no «manager» to be found. All I could do was wait for the following day, so they charged me two extra days at $ 84. Filing a complaint with the BBB. I was lured in by the cheap rates but they screwed me over in the end. It’s well worth it to go elsewhere.

It’s pretty straightforward to rent a car here. They were neither friendly nor rude when I had to rent a car here, and everything was fast and perfunctory which is what I expected. I didn’t have any problems returning the car, and they charged me exactly what I expected ($ 25/​day). I received a Corolla that was pretty dinged up, and I was worried they’d charge me for it when I returned it, but nope. They remember their cars and all the scratches that come with them. I would come back here if I had to rent a car again.

After reading most of the reviews from others about this Budget Rent a Car Center, I can’t help it but to say yes, it could be a hit or a miss. It probably has a lot to do with the front desk associates who takes care of the rentals.
I have rented at this Budget a few times already, and their rental prices are quite competitive. Usually the cost is less for a rental if the car is a couple years old. And if it is an insurance claim, there is a special insurance rate.
Who knows how they come out with the numbers. But if you shop around, chances is this Budget numbers are competitive.
Yes, sometimes the front desk is rude, and other times they could be the nicest people. How weird… it sounds like a Jekyll and Hyde hit or miss… but it’s true. haha.
All I could say is I never had any issues with anybody there regardless of their attitudes. I only want to rent a car quickly so I could go on with my day. And this has been the case from my experience.
Yes, be fair. Fill your gas back up exactly from where it was when the car is first released to you, and there won’t be any issues.

I do not do Unilocal reviews but please… Buyer BEWARE! What a scam this place is. Rented a truck. I literally topped off the diesel tank before returning the truck. Upon return they said that the gas meter was a little under the line (which it wasn’t, they were blatantly calling me blind right in front of my face). They still charged me the $ 30 not full tank charge!. They know they will do this when you rent the truck in the first place. This is bad business, and any employee supporting this business protocol is just as much at fault, including Jackie… everybody’s in on it, even the garage guy with the shady stache.
This business knows it rely’s on the local alhambra chinese business that does not read on Unilocal… This place probably rips off it’s own kind, what a bunch of low life shmucks!

Most unprofessional service I have ever experienced. Very square people and when questioned, they do not know how to answer. Even the old man (thing) running this dump should be put to disgrace.
