They are open again!(Updated below, this was posted 9÷21÷2015) All hail my fav 3 cup chicken place in the clay pot!!! There is a completely renovated menu! They have more drinks, there are 3 new booths. Same location, same good cooking! Sizzling hot plates, hot clay pots and lunch special«rice bowls» actually served on plates are the specialties! I have plenty of photos. Come back and try them! Parking is a bit tight, but worth the the effort! Unilocal! Open up the business so I can check in again! 12/21/2015 — Alas, But they are now closed again…

The restaurant was permanently closed one year ago. Why does it still show up on the Unilocal and Google?

I went here for their lunch special around 1:30pm on a monday with my friends, but the place was closed. I don’t know if they were out to their own lunch… or they were out of business. That stinks.

Valley blvd is full of Asian restaurants and I’ve always wanted to find that really good place that I’ll frequent a lot since I live so close to valley. I thought this would’ve been the place judging by the Unilocal reviews/pictures. Well, there’s new owners and a completely different menu that I didn’t know about. I walked in and was the only person in there. I was shown a menu by the husband/wife team, who I’m assuming are the owners. They pointed at the bottom 3rd of the menu and I realized that’s all that was available and they didn’t speak any English. I pointed to Szechwan shredded pork and off they went to make my food. About 5 minutes later this huge plate of shredded pork, sliced green and red bell peppers and lots of sticky rice plus a small side soup(broth and green onions) came out. I tried asking for a fork since I don’t know how to use chopsticks(I know, I know) but they didn’t understand me so I just used my soup spoon to eat. Up until now I didn’t think I’d return here but then I tried the food and everything was delicious! Then when I went to pay it was only $ 4.99. I couldn’t believe it. I think I will give them another try but bring my own fork next time.

Really great little place right next door to Pepe’s mexcian food stand in Alhambra and just a stones throw from Noodle World and all the other asian food eats up and down this section of Valley Blvd. Stopped in one Saturday night when all the other places were jam packed with long waits. But this tiny place? Just four or five tables /booths inside and no wait! Would the food be good? It was very good. Had some sort of beef noodle soup with tender, melt in your mouth stew meat and perfectly done noodles. Very nice on a cold night. The place is very small but homey inside, and the staff very welcoming. The young lady working there was the daughter of «the cook» and said he had been one for over 30 years. Tasting this soup and I tend to believe her. I grabbed a «Rice Bowl» special to go for $ 5 and was completely satisfied by it when I got home. Actually«more» then a rice bowl it was a very generous serving of steamed rice with an equally generous serving of delicious Kung Pao Chicken. It wasn’t served in a bowl at all, but a dinner size styrofoam box. The chicken was as tender as could be, it was packed with mild chili’s, and a good amount of peanuts. That’s it. Many places I have been put other things in their Kung Pao which I figure is to take up space and spend less on chicken, chili, and peanuts. Not this place. You definitely get what you pay for, and then some! Take out business would seem to be brisk as with just a few booths and a couple tables inside seating is limited, and I do not know how such a small place with cheap prices could stay in business with this sort of limited dining space. And take out here is easy to do with street parking out front and plenty of parking out back, around the side, around the corner, or even at Pepe’s next door. Good food at good prices and if you don’t feel like waiting an hour for a table at Noodle World one cold night, this might do the trick for ‘ya.

We ordered for pick up and they had a lunch special for only 4.99! The food was pretty good, plenty of meat and it even came with free soup. I don’t see how they can make money but it’s sure worth it for us customers. I ordered the shredded pork and the cumin beef and they were both pretty good. Just try it, I’m pretty sure you won’t be disappointed.

Yummy food with a spicy kick. My family brought some leftovers home from this mom n pop restaurant and I gobbled up the vermicelli noodle with shrimp and beef rice. I will go myself next time and try the fish dishes! Plus I like non chain places that are more original.

This place has some of the best food you can find in the San Gabriel Valley. It’s a small family owned restaurant that has approximately 4 tables. I usually get the rice bowls which costs $ 4.99. Don’t get me wrong the food is really good. No MSG, Homemade feel, big portions. I recommend this place to anybody who wants a quick lunch and a place that has quality food at an affordable price.

Update April 2015: restaurant seems to be under new ownership and has a completely different menu. Closed on Tuesdays. — My advice is to look at pictures before you decide what to get. I get takeout here often for lunch, because: — The rice lunch specials are just $ 4.99 — Almost every Rice Special I’ve tried tastes really good. — It’s not just a rice and some meat. Most of the dishes have a good amount of vegetables as well, even if not mentioned in the item description. The protein portions are also pretty decent. — It’s fast. I call in advance and pickup my food about 10 minutes later. Of the ones I’ve tried(* = favorite): (1) Royal Rice Bowl(sun1 ji4 yi1 pin3 shen2 jin3 gai4 jiao1 fan4)… comes with tofu, shrimp, I think beef, snow peas, broccoli, and red bell peppers. *(2) Shredded Pork in Garlic Sauce Rice Bowl(yu2 xiang1 rou4 si1 gai4 jiao1 fan4)… The sauce is addicting! Comes with sliced bell peppers, bamboo shoots, and leeks. *(3) Shredded Pork in Beijing Sauce Rice Bowl(jing1 jiang4 rou4 si1 gai4 jiao1 fan4)… this one is mostly just meat and rice. Although there are no vegetables, this dish is really addicting due to the sauce. (4) Moo Shu Pork Rice Bowl(mu4 xu1 rou4 gai4 jiao1 fan4)… The dish comes with black wood-ear mushrooms and fried egg. (10) Brown Sauce Pork Rice Bowl(hong2 shao1 da4 pai2 gai4 jiao1 fan4)… You get a decent hunk of porkchop, served with bok choy for veggies. I liked the meat/veggies balance, but my pork chop was just OK. (13) Beef with Satay Sauce Rice Bowl(sha1 cha2 niu2 ruo4 gai4 jiao1 fan4)… You may recognize the satay sauce(sha1 cha2 jiang4) from hotpot memories… made of dried shrimp, fish, garlic, shallots, and soybean oil. The dish comes with sliced onions, bell peppers, and carrots. Probably only get this if you like the taste of Sha-Cha sauce. (14) Cumin Beef Rice Bowl(zi1 ran2 niu2 rou4 gai4 jiao1 fan4)… Comes with lots of onions, bell peppers, and sliced carrots (16) Fish Fillet with Black Bean Sauce Rice Bowl(chi3 jiao1 yu2 pian4 gai4 jiao1 fan4)… Only get this if you like the flavor of the fermented black bean sauce. Otherwise, it might taste gross to you. Comes with snow peas, onions, and bell peppers. *(17) Fish Fillet with Tomato Sauce Rice Bowl(qie2 zhi1 yu2 pian4 gai4 jiao1 fan4)… Comes with lots of onions, bell peppers, snow peas, and sliced carrots. The fish fillet has a sweet tomato flavor, but there is not actually a tomato sauce in this dish. 18) Fish Fillet with Vegetable Rice Bowl(xue3 cai4 yu2 pian4 gai4 jiao1 fan4)… The«vegetable» is actually just Chinese sauerkraut(picked Chinese cabbage). It tasted OK, but not what I was expecting. Don’t get this if you don’t like pickled cabbage(suan1 cai4). (20) Shredded Pork w/Leek & Xianggang Rice Bowl(jiu3 cai4 xiang1 gan4 rou4 si1 gai4 jiao1 fan4)… I unexpectedly liked this because of the abundance of leeks(green onion shoots?). It also had chopped tofu slivers. It tastes great, but you have to like leeks. (96) Za Jiang Noodle(xiang1 la4 zha2 jiang4 mian4)… only $ 4.99 during lunch time. Quite delectable. Comes with thin noodles, shredded cucumber, and the special meat sauce. The meat sauce is addicting and I just wish there was more. My *favorites are the 2 Shredded Pork bowls and the Fish Fillet with Tomato Sauce. However, so far I’ve pretty much enjoyed everything I’ve had so I will continue to try the other items on their menu. This place is Cash Only.

Business is open now! Service is 5 stars for the young waitress and 4 stars for the food. The sizzling black pepper is oily, but beef is fresh. The 3 cups chicken no complaint, nothing special.
