Tried it for the first time, the food was good. We ordered the fried chicken with soy souce… its good with rice… but too salty by itself.

Came here the past Sunday for a pretty early breakfast with my parents. Couldn’t say that they improved or changed much over the months/year that I haven’t been here for breakfast. They had the same breakfast menu however I guess the prices went up a little — almost 8 dollars for a full meal(example: porridge with choice of side dish and a drink). They menu has several choice sets — you can pair porridge with any listed side dishes such as fried glutinous sticks, fried chow mein, vermicelli, and among a few other ones for about 6.95 — however they do have a choice of premium sides u can also choose from for 1.95 more — which is honestly not really that worth it unless you really wanted something from that list — other then that the regular stuff’s pretty decent. When I do come here for breakfast I realize I usually ordered similar things — either the HK style spam and egg sandwich with the sweet oatmeal side and iced coffee or the sausage omelette with wheat toast and sweet oatmeal side and iced coffee. This past Sunday it was the spam and egg sandwich and I was pretty happy after my meal. The iced coffee is always good here — so I usually stick with that. Still pretty darn good for breakfast and still relatively cheap. :)

Of all the cafes in SGV, this one is so blahh. It’s a culinary disaster, really, that draws the cheapest customers for the worst food that you pay a few bucks for, only to regret your presence the moment you are presented with the food. Stick to the staples of HK café food for a passable meal.

This café has been getting worse and worse. I really liked it when it was called OK Café, but after it was remodeled and changed, my family has taken to avoiding this place. I remember coming here one afternoon for lunch. It was so hot outside, but was even hotter inside! There wasn’t any air conditioning, and they had propped open the doors to get some air, so flies were flying around everywhere. Yeck. But anyway, my family decided to give it another try about a month ago. We ordered about five Chinese style dishes, which we wanted to eat as a meal with rice. But the dishes came out one by one … and very slowly. After finishing one dish, the next one would come out. And when that one was done, the next one came out. We couldn’t have the experience of eating all of the dishes at once! Needless to say that after the third dish, we just canceled the last one and got the heck out of there. The breakfast at Face Café also isn’t that great anymore either. I know they had macaroni or something, which I liked. But it wasn’t very tasty. Rather go to U2 than here.

One thing I enjoy — Consistency, and Face café just really doesn’t seem to have it. Every time I come the menu has been tweaked just a bit, things have been added on, and loads of things have been removed. What happened to my favorite ahi tuna salad?! There also seems to be a new head chef all the freaking time. Maybe they don’t provide dental? Whatever the reason, people always seem to come and go and it ruins my meal. I order my usual dish, and when it arrives it looks completely different, tastes different and just isn’t very satisfying. BOO, I miss the old chef :(

It’s been a while since I’ve been to a Chinese café for food. I ended up coming here for breakfast with my brother and boyfriend before my bro had to drive back up for school, and it was a full filling breakfast for us three AND cheap. Came here on a Sunday morning, and there were open seats so it wasn’t pack.(surprisingly) We ordered the… pork with thousand eggs porridge w/a combo chow mein. $ 5 — tasted alright pumpkin porridge w/a combo chow mein $ 6 — I love pumpkin porridge. It gives it a interesting taste. sirracha the chow mein, tastes yummier. our additional order: — steamed noodle with bbq pork and steamed noodle with beef(Churn fun) good stuff. more meat than dim sum places which was yay. boyfriend got the… — sunny side up eggs with chicken steak and toast. Mhm. Chicken steak was delicious! Note: ordering from the breakfast menu, you get either an hot tea or coffee for 50 cent more. Ah. now I kind of miss the Chinese cafes… :X

Food was fine, service was horrible. and we were sitting RIGHT by the kitchen! We had a group of 8, so we ordered a bunch of different things. If you’ve never been it’s a typical Hong Kong style diner type restaurant, like Denny’s in a way, lots of simple, homey dishes. Most customers are families and older folks. I liked the stone pot rice and the«casserole» with vermicelli, beef, and mushrooms. Although some of the dishes were pretty good, the chicken wings were undercooked! Scary! I think I prefer Tasty Garden. Won’t be returning here.

This review is for the new Face Café because apparently they are now under new management or something like that. Nothing will ever beat when this place was called OK Café, but now they’e made some changes to the menu and employees. During this lunch time, I usually order something grilled, mainly grilled chicken steak. However, for the first time, I did not see any grilled meats on the menu! Seriously?! What café does not have grilled chicken steak/pork chop? The menu itself did not have the usual selection from other cafes; don’t expect to see much fish on the menu either. So, there was a slight detour from my usual, but I guess there was a silver lining. I decided to go for the ginger lo mein with Hainan chicken. Now, usually, I am known for making bad choices with food items, but this was actually a good choice! My curiosity(I have never seen this item elsewhere) did not kill the cat this time. This plate was 7.99 during lunch time, with a drink and healthy soup. My only complaint is that there were a lot more noodles than chicken, but my stomach was still content. I was pretty full after all was said and done. The taste of the plate was great. The chicken was moist and soft; coupled with the sauces, this is one of the best Hainan chickens. The noodles were skinny noodles; along with the sauces again, these noodles were flavorful enough(the most apparent that there was ginger sauce). In conclusion, this café is not too bad. Service was how it was before: attentive and speedy. Parking can be better but I can say the same about every other restaurant in San Gabriel Valley. I would go definitely go here again; especially when I feel a craving for foods not found at other cafes.

Sadly, they no longer have steak and eggs on their breakfast special. My boyfriend is bummed. On the other hand, the porridge and soy sauce chow mein, my favorite, is still in existent! Face Café used to be many names before, but yet still the same café with the same types of food. But my family, friends and I still refer to this place as OK Café. But that’s not important. So this café compared to others all over Valley Blvd have more seating and is quite more roomier. BY far more booths if you’re the picky kind of sitter who likes to sit in the booth by the windows. The service is mediocre but at any Asian cafes, you’re going for the cheapness, not the service. Price wise is comparable to all other cafes, not more expensive but not much cheaper either. They do have a parking lot, but I usually drive straight to the back and park since the parking spaces in front of the café is not only compact but always blocked off by incoming and outgoing cars. They accept credit cards and have those plus $ 1 for lemon iced tea with orders and such. They also have plenty of big tables which is good for coming in groups and you don’t have to worry about waiting for many parties to leave so that they can combine tables for you. It’s still just like any other café though so come as convenience.

This place has changed names so many times. It use to OK Café, then DJ Café. I can’t even keep track how many times they changed their name. Now it’s called Face Café. This is your typical Hong Kong style café. Nothing special. I came here cause I have $ 10 credit from groupon for the«Now» vouchers(groupon vouchers that have to be used the same day). So, I paid $ 5 after the $ 10 credit for a $ 20 groupon for Face Café. Things I’ve tried: Steamed Crullers: First time it was so yummy. Second time, it was not fresh. Crulllers were over fried greasy and every bite was super oily. Indo Fried Rice: It did not taste like Indo fried rice at all. It was a tomato base frield rice. It was just Bleh. I feel jipped! Now I have to go to JJ café to get my fix. Spicy Fish Filet in Clay pot: — Not bad. They used a little too much MSG tho. Braised Chicken in Clay pot — Yummy! Nice flavor. No complaints bout this dish. Deep Fried Calamari — More batter than calamari. My bf loved it. I would have loved some calamari to go with the batter. Hot Milk Tea — Nice strong tea flavor. They serve it pre-made by the cup. You don’t get the tea and condensed milk. So, you don’t get to mix it yourself. BTW, they do not have set dinners or dinner specials. So none of those Chicken steak dinners with a free drink. Hot milk tea is $ 2.50. I’m so used to getting it for free at other places(dinner specials) Also, when you order Lo Mein you have to pay extra for the soup(what a rip off). WTF… that’s just wrong. Anyhow, Price comes out to $ 13 with a drink per person(depending on what you order). I rather go to Spot or JJ café for this price. Overall, The food and service here is just mediocore. There are so many other Hong Kong style cafes in the area that are in the same price range with better service and food. I highly doubt I’ll come back here unless I have groupon or living social deal. This place is a 3 stars at best.

One of the worst café in this area. 1. The foods aren’t that good. My steak came rock hard, lots tendons which is hard to cut and it was greasy. Whats up with the sauce on the bottom? Their fries were good though. Kudos to Curly fries 2. The services were slow, I had to waive few times to get noticed. 3. They are often on groupon now. I didn’t use it but I know why they have to sell it over there. Its bad There are so many HK style café nearby, this is definitely the one to omit.

I don’t come here often but when I do there is only 1 reason why. Iced Lemonade. or hot if you’re feeling chilly or suffering from a sore throat. I don’t know what kind or where their honey comes from but it’s delicious. Pricey though, $ 3 a cup. I’m not sure if it’s cheaper if you order it with a meal but from what I’ve ordered which is usually not a special, it’s 3 bucks a cup with unlimited refills. Food I’ve tried and recommend: Spaghetti with Meat Balls is saucy and not your typical cheap«baked» spaghetti like most cafes, it’s got a pretty good flavor. And my ultimate favorite. steamed rice rolls. I like the plain :) It comes with the oyster and peanut butter sauce, perfection. Under $ 4 and it’s not too salty or drained with MSG. I always come here to get this with my lemonade after the club. it hits the spot! DONOT get the eggplant dishes. nothing but salt and MSG and it’s completely tasteless. Ick. See photos if you’re interested in what the foods I’ve described above look like :)

Holy moly! I am a fan of their fried eggplants! Absolutely the BEST eggplants I ever had! They were sort of like tempura. And then, the seasoning(fried garlic, pepper) on top was just perfecto! I don’t care how bad fried food is. This is definitely worth the clogged arteries or what not! I really hope the quality of the eggplants stays the same overtime tho. YES! 5STARS just for those EGGPLANTS!

I’ve been here at this location since it was OK Café… Then it changed to some other names and now it’s Face Café. I really like their breakfast selections. They serve breakfast from 7:00AM-11:00AM. I usually order porridge and their beef rice roll. Let me tell you… Their beef rice roll is even better than some dim sum places. The ratio of beef to the rice paper is just right. I also like the macaroni and you get a choice of a sandwich, omelette, sausage and eggs, etc. The meal also comes with a drink. They also give out free refills like any other HK style cafes. One thing they could work on is their service. There is lacking of it and the servers kind of just ignore you when you ask for something. Also, only their breakfast is good, I’ve come here to try their lunch menu a couple of times and I was not impressed. Their food is either too bland or too oily. You should definitely come here to try their breakfast because they give a generous portion for a fair price. As for lunch and dinner, there are better HK Cafes to go to.

Never went to Face Café till now, didn’t even go when it was called OK Café both names are just not appealing. Only came here since my friend choose it for a late lunch but I was pleasantly surprised, it’s really NOT horrendous. Walking in I smelled the fragrance of Milk Tea done right and was reassured that this café knows what’s up. We got seated in one of the booths lining the walls and my posterior was satisfied since they look more comfortable than the chairs. The updated décor reminded me of the newer Banh Mi Che Cali on Garvery. Plenty of room between tables my friend enjoys Face Café for it’s spaciousness. Too bad we didn’t come late enough for their Tea Time specials from 3−5pm but the Lunch Specials were already cheap enough and includes a drink for additional $ 1. Tons of menu items you will find your Hong Kong style café favorite such as sandwiches and macaroon with spam. The baked pork chop with tomato sauce over rice was a large dish and was enough to feed two people or just one with leftovers. From the looks of it all the dishes are largely portioned making this place a good deal. The taste was not bad but hard to screw up this dish since the tomato sauce is such a strong flavor. Average quality, containing no bad surprises. The servers were typical café type in their own world of rushing about. So if your tea needed a refill don’t wait around politely to make eye contact, none will be given. As one rushes by its best to yell at them/after them what you need. We did this for the check but I guess the server didn’t hear(was on auto-pilot) and just came back with more tea for my friend and as he was rushing off just shouted for the check again! x_X

4 for food 1 for service 1 for bathroom cleanliness = 3 stars because I’ll be back Things to get: Crispy chicken with green onion(so good) sorry this is a directly translation not sure what it is called on the menu. CURRY! — I know I know why would one get CURRY at an HK café right? But Face makes it SPICY and delicious. Face has really good portions for lunch special. It gets pretty busy so expect to wait a little.

Face Café is another reliable late night HK café along the somewhat busy to very busy Valley Blvd. I can’t say there’s too much that does differentiate this place from other HK cafes… you got the brightly lit interior, bar, lcd tvs, and faux wood trimmings that seem to exist in all HK cafes. But the food is good if not spectacular — it may be that I’ve been going to the wrong HK cafes all my life but I’ve never had egg on my bolognese before, which is a nice touch. The same goes for the large slices of lemon in my «lemon coke».

This place was just meh… a typical café. Ordered: fish ball & fish cake noodle and house special chow mein. I added a little bit chili to fish ball noodle and it was so spicy. Maybe it’s already super spicy before I added the chili. My house special chow mein was bland bland bland. Please spice it up. I don’t care if it’s msg, soy sauce or salt and peper. They played Mel Gibson & Jet Lee movies while we dined. 2 stars! Face Café is not yummylicious!

Ah, I like this place!!! I’d definitely come back. We had a party of eight, and four of my friends spoke Cantonese so they decided to come here since they were familiar with this place. It was previously known as OK Café. Anywho, we all got something different except for 2 of them. I really liked their menu. They had an oriental and a western side so it fits for both cultures. I got the Pork w/Sesame Oil Lo Mein and it was reallllllllllly yummy. I don’t know if we have that in Vegas, but I’d love to have some more right about now T_T. To get waiter service, you’ll have to summon people to refill drinks or whatnot. We were able to split the checks in pairs(I don’t remember if we suggested it or if they made us) and all you have to do is bring it up front to pay. Oh yeah, the portions were good. Wish we had this in Vegas, sigh!

Face Café’s your typical HK Café in the San Gabriel Valley, but it is nice to see that they have something different on their menu. FOOD(4 stars): SPICYCHICKENRICEVERMICELLIINFISHBROTH $ 5.75 Their menu stated that the fish broth was made with shark fin bone and is suppose to be good for the body. While I don’t know it is true or not, it was pretty good. The rice vermicelli was served with chicken bits, mushrooms, and vegetables. The soup is a little spicy, but it is not the«flaming hot» spicy I am accustomed to. Instead, it is that type of spicy that leaves you a tingle and numbing sensation. AMBIANCE:(3 stars) I noticed that they finally made some changes from their predecessors(OK, DJ, Sika). Nothing too special about it, but it is definitely much cleaner and modern looking when compared to their predecessors. SERVICE:(4 stars) I walked in during peak lunch hours, and was horrified by the amount of people standing at the door. I walked up quickly to the counter and told the cashier how many people is in my party and just pray that a table would open up soon. While most cafes/restaurants in the area would refuse to sit small parties at big tables, the manager quickly showed us to a table that can easily fit 6 for our party of 3. PARKING:(2 stars) While they have a huge parking lot by the restaurant, all the parking were filled. Please remember not to park at the bank parking because the security might call Alhambra Po Po to give you a ticket. OVERALL: I am in love with the Spicy Chicken Rice Vermicelli in Fish Broth. Would definitely come back just to get this again!
