My family’s favorite go to place for dinner. Their Bun Bo Hue is great! My boys loves their Phở Ap Chao, and their Nem Coung is awesome as well.

I always enjoyed going to this place until today. The service today was horrible, due to the waitress not taking my order correctly. First of all, I would explain to her what I wanted, and I could not understand her response. She kept asking if I wanted a bowl or a plate, but I clearly stated from the Menu what I wanted. I get my bowl and it is small, but when I go pay. It was charged as a large. As for my friend, my friend got charged extra as well for a plate that was ordered. We were told that the grilled chicken was not available so they brought steam chicken and charged more… I don’t mind paying for food, but it is the service and the negative actions that get me upset. This business needs fluent English workers, heck even Spanish would be great. I am not coming here again due to this carelessness… I feel robbed in my own neighborhood. sigh no tip for you.

Heard about this place from a friend so what did we do when we got off the plane? Head straight to New noodle Guy. Were originally from Houston so our Phở is pretty good to begin with. Pleasantly surprised to find the broth here is smooth and very fresh tasting. We order the Kobe phở and the meat was tender and delightful. We plan to go back before we go back to Houston. Will visit this place when we come back. Must try!

Oh. My. Sweet. Baby. Jesus — best phở I’ve had, ever. And I hail from a city with a phở shop on every corner(Houston). Thank you LA, for this wonderful ambrosia. it’s THAT good. I had the Kobe Beef Phở and Nem Nuong(pork rolls). Try the special beef marrow too! I’ll be coming back for another visit right before flying back home.

So where do I even begin?! AMAZING! Food is great, portions are great, price is great, customer service is great, location is great! Yes, yes, and yes! Might I add, cleanliness is much appreciated too! This is definitely a go to spot after picking up some groceries next door! Rice vermicelli with shrimp paste, egg rolls, & vegetables — yum! Of course with the sauce = super yum! I didn’t finish it because I was trying to savor the flavor, but at the same time the portion was perfect for saving some for later! Charbroiled pork chop — the portion is just wow. Taste; another wow!

Amazing meal! We read the Jonathan Gold review and came today, we’ll definitely be back very soon. Ambiance was casual, we were seated immediately and service was fast. The giant tv’s were playing sports and Vietnamese music videos which we were enthralled by. The Kobe Phở was delicious, the broth was rich and a little fatty and the rare beef was flavorful. Maybe needed a little salt but the tableside garlic chili took care of that perfectly. It was expensive for phở at 13 $ but I’d definitely get it again. The shrimp paste spring rolls were the best I’ve ever had, pre-rolled hot and fat and with an amazing sauce. The rice cake was huge, a coconut-tasting crêpe stuffed with shrimp, pork, bean sprouts. It was good but not my favorite dish.

Filet Phở — Meat is super tender — The bowl is huge and should fill you up — I tried the meat on the regular phở, and it’s not even close to the filet(obvi). — Price is double of normal phở I tried some spring rolls, and they were pretty tasty. The sauce was different but good.

Our go-to Phở restaurant was Phở 79 on Garfield, until it left us heartbroken by closing down after thirty years of service. That’s when the dark, downward spiral of bad Vietnamese restaurant visits started for us. A devastating stage of our lives. If Mufasa was alive, he’d point at the dark part of Alhambra and warn us to never go to those specific places. lol When it was open, Phở 79 was rated #4 in a list of LA’s best Phở restaurants… New Noodle Guy is rated #3. We walked into New Noodle Guy with a broken heart and a skeptical mind, but we were secretly looking for salvation in the form of a plate that could restore our Phoking faith in Vietnamese food. lol I have to admit that by the time I had my tenth spoon of broth here, the plate won me over but I didn’t want to tell the rest of our friends yet. I-no-punk-beech. lol This is big because all the other notorious Vietnamese places we visited had something working against itself: either the meat was too harsh, the broth was too plain, the tripe was too hard or the Something was just too something. Option #3 here is good, but I recommend you get #1 with the Kobe Beef. Let me clarify that I’m not a Phoking traitor. To be fair, I didn’t leave Phở 79, Phở 79 left ME. After I got over the abandonment heartbreak and listened to Cake’s cover of «I Will Survive,» until the pain went away, I found something better. Phở 79 would want me to meet The New Noodle Guy. The Universe spoke, I’m doing my part and reacting to it. lol Try this place out, I recommend it. No long lines(an awesome perk) and it does look like a fast food restaurant, but I assure you the plates are worth your visit. –Diego–

My com tam suon was a little raw at the edge where the meat meets the bone. Considering this is pork – this is a huge deal. Definitely ask for well-done!

3.5 stars! We went there for early dinner on a Friday. My parents got phở dac biet, which is the combination of beef including sliced steak, brisket, flank, tendon, stripe and meatball. I ordered bun bo hue(spicy beef noodles) and a baked egg on the side. The portion is huge! The beef quality is good. The soup is tasteful. However, I was disappointed with the baked egg. It was dry and tiny. There’s no sign about their happy hour from Mon through Fri, 3pm to 6pm. When we paid, we received 20% off. What a pleasant treat!

Got the Bahn Xeo, which is a viet crêpe filled with bean sprouts and fat shrimps. The crêpe is delicious(tastes like coconut) but it kinda contradicts with the savory stuff inside the crêpe. And it’s served with lettuce and cucumbers. Am I supposed to deconstruct the crêpe, put it on a lettuce and dip it in fish sauce? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Hubs loved his bun(boon) noodles. He said it’s better than our regular Noodle City cuz Noodle City overlooks their beef and this place doesn’t. Hubs added egg roll to his dish. I tried it. Dare I say these egg rolls are as yummy as Golden Deli’s? Yes! I’ll say it again too. It’s hella good EGGROLLS! Also got Bahn Beo(I’m so proud of myself for learning all these new words). The Bahn Beo are rice shooters on a shallow dish topped with yummy toppings like dried shrimp, scallions and fried onions. But they give so much toppings. So tasty.

Not sure who’s the old noodle guy, but this youngin delivers some really good Viet food. So if you’re in the mood for bun bo hue or bun mam(especially since it’s so damn cold around here now), come and you won’t be disappointed!

I actually heard from this place from the lady that does my nails. I had been searching high/low for a place that made good Bun Bo Hue and this place hits the spot. There usually is no wait. It’s a no frills clean place. Service is quick and food comes out licky split. The highlight for me is their Bun Bo Hue and beef cubes. Bun Bo Hue is a soup dish from south Vietnam town called Hue. My mom was born there and she makes this dish soo well. Since I moved away this is been the next best thing. The broth is infused with lemongrass and so many spices. Good variety of meat and you gotta add lots of lime juice. The beef cubes #32 with orange rice is like crack. Super tender and flavorful in your mouth. It looks deceptively simple to make but I only wish I knew ho to. Parking: free in plaza They take credit. This is a standard go to place for me for a quick delicious bite. The rest of their menu is good too but It’s just hard to try other things bc the 2 fav dishes there are so yum.

Phở Kobe — not worth it. My Mom ended up getting the runs, and was pissed that $ 13.50 for phở kobe sucked and way over priced! Meal was slow coming out, and it wasn’t even packed on a Saturday night around 6pm. The kobe meat was sliced chunky, and not sliced thin. Mom counted and there’s only 5 slices per bowl. Her slices were chewy, and didn’t taste fresh, which lead her to getting the runs. Also, on my bowl, they gave me a hella lot onions than noodles, urgh! Both Mom and I was still hungry, and my Mom knew I was still hungry when I started drinking some of the broth after my noodles were gone. She also asked if I wanted to order anything else, and I said no because I lost interest and just wanted to get the hell outta here. I now see why each table had to order additional appetizers. Overall, phở kobe at Saigon Eden still kicks ass, and is cheaper(large is $ 12.99). Would I come back to this place? Nope.

Not as good as old noodle guy sadly. Soup is very msg tasting and lacked depth. The Vietnamese coffee was atrocious, bitter, watery and overly sweet. The noodles were too soft as well. Service wise it was about the same, but I miss the soup and noodle of the old noodle guy.

Gotta check out this place for the best KOBE beef phở in SVG!!! Don’t bother ordering anything else or you’re losing out. All the other dishes you can get at any Vietnamese restaurants. I had the kobe beef served in the bowl. I was just amazed of the tenderness of the Kobe beef even though it was fully cooked. I will not forget the moment. It was also a big plus that they serve the soup HOT! I absolutely hate warm soup because once your meat cooks, the soup becomes cold. On top of the good food, they also have really good service. The waiter served us quick, checked on us, and the food came out quick and hot! After we were done with our food, I asked for 2 to go boxes to separate my noodle and soup. Now catch this… The server offered to bring a new batch of soup for me to take to go! I almost fell out of my chair!!! No one has ever offered a new bowl of soup before and without me asking. Now that’s good customer service!!! I was very impressed with my experience and do come back again soon. l plan to bring more friends too!

Le Food: 4⁄5 stars. Great Banh Beo but no Myung bean paste so –1 stars. But other than that it was great. The rice cake had good chewy texture and not powdery. The toppings were generous and cover the small plate. The taste was very good. Unexpected from a noodle place. Atmosphere: 4⁄5 stars. Roomy, airy, comfy place. Clean, but it’s a relatively new place. Service: 3⁄5 stars. Standard Asian restaurant type service. Seat, order, serve, eat, pay. Fast and efficient. I don’t remember if it was cash only or not. Expense: 4⁄5 stars. Good price and not skimpy on the toppings. My kind of place. Return: 5⁄5 stars. Yes. Everything looked good from the other tables that I remembered. My Banh Beo was better than expected. I’m looking forward to try other dishes.

I bookmarked this place 3 months ago because of a music video made by a local artist named Richie Le. t was collaborated with the Fung Brothers, A. J Rafael and many others. Tonight I finally got the chance to try the restaurant. Here’s the link if anyone is interested.
Location: Located next to a new ramen shop that just opened… Kaiooramen. Ambiance/Décor: Loved the ambiance and modern furnishings. If you want to watch a basketball game or any other shows, they have flat screens along the walls for you to take a gander at. Service: Service was great! The staffer was friendly, patient, and very helpful in helping find something I would be interesting in eating. I ended up deciding on the Cari Ga Bun(Curry chicken vermicelli) My noodle bowl came out fast. Food: I thought the curry chicken noodle bowl was scrumptious! The curry flavor was distinctive and wasn’t as salty as other places that I’ve tried. The food portion was generous that I wasn’t able to finish it. The chicken was so tender and literally fell off the bone! Tip: Add some lime juice and add the sprouts and mint leaves to enhance the flavor of the curry. Would definitely come back to try more scrumptious vietnamese food.

FRESH. That’s really important when you go to a phở place. The dish of veggies/herbs they give you before the phở comes out is so fresh they look like they were straight picked from the garden. Sometimes you go to places and the herbs are wilted or browning. Not here. They’re so crisp and green! Service is friendly and fast. Food is great. I love the bun, phở and broken rice. They don’t skimp on any ingredients/portions. Their steamed egg is so good. One of my favorites. It’s not dry and dense. Tasty and fluffy. Definitely becoming a regular here.

Love this place. Probably one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in SGV. They have just about every dish and make them all well. The special here is the Kobe Beef phở. A bowl goes for 13.25, almost double the price of a regular bowl anywhere else but it’s worth it! The broth has an oxtail flavor and the Kobe beef melts in your mouth… Also, they don’t use the traditional thin phở noodle… They use a fresh noodle that’s a little bit thicker and softer. Much easier to eat… I frequent here just about once a week if I’m in town. They also have spring rolls like the OC infamous Brodard… It’s the same sauce & meat, they get it from Brodard, so it’s not a knock off. Great selection of desserts and drinks too. Also… Don’t be confused with Noodle Guy… It’s not the same restaurant. It’s NEWNOODLEGUY!
