Food was okay, service was fast and friendly, I’d probably come back, I’m very curious about the decorations for the holidays

Saw this place while driving around and decided to try the tacos which came with rice and retried beans. I also ordered chips and salsa which doesn’t come with the meal. To start with the positives, the Taco shell was good and seemed homemade had a nice thickness to it. The lettuce and tomato were good and fresh. And they put a decent amount of ground beef in the taco. Now on to the negative. Although the ground beef was plentiful it was desperately missing seasoning. As was both the beans and the rice. The«Mexican» rice had no more flavor than instant white rice. And the side of chips and salsa that I paid extra for seemed more like a side of ketchup and chips. The salsa also had no more than just a tomato flavor and had the consistency of a gelatinous ketchup. Overall the meal was very disappointing to say the least. But even with the lack of seasoning, the tacos were good and I’d get just the tacos if I were to go back.

We just went there again on Sunday; our family loves Manuel’s. We had the nachos and tacos — we always have the same thing. Delicious, as always and the service was great. I would give 5 stars but we don’t anything different and I’m not an authority on Mexican food.

It’s not that hard to find someone who can correctly take carry out orders over the phone. My lunch break is now ruined.

This is my family’s favorite place to eat. We have been coming here for years. If you get a chance, go at Halloween. They transform the restaurant with excellent decorations.

The sign outside reads«Authentic Mexican food». Maybe at one point, but now more like chi-chi’s. Chips and two salsas came to the table. Bland tomato sauce passed for mild salsa. Hot appeared to be the same but with the addition of chili flakes. My lunch entrée lacked flavor even with the guacamole on top. So why 3 stars? Service great — very friendly. Lunch special was fairly inexpensive. Just didn’t care for the food.

Really great lunch spot with quick service and good lunch specials. They also had some carry out specials posted that looked like a great deal and changed based on the day of the week. They give you unlimited fresh tortilla chips and salsa. The tacos were great– the soft corn tortillas were probably some of the freshest I’ve ever had. The beans and rice weren’t anything special, but were fine with some added salt. The ambiance was very nice — there’s a southwestern feel with lots of decorations. Don’t be fooled by its outer appearance– this place is great!

I drive about 35 minutes to get to Manuel’s. Every time I’m in the area I stop to eat. We often order their large chicken Botana for parties and get togethers. I’m yet to have a bad meal from here. They decorate very nicely for just about every holiday. They go all out for Halloween, great time to come if you have kids. It’s not the largest place so often times there’s a line. I can’t believe how busy they get sometimes. Food is great and so it the atmosphere. Haven’t eaten in too many times but when I did the service was good.

We tried this place the other day on a whim. It’s right by our house and everyone seems to love it. I got a chimichanga and rice — both of which were super bland. The chimi was so soggy and the quesadilla I ordered, knowing it came with guacamole, was sopped with guacamole, to the point where it might as well have been a guacamole taco. I didn’t taste a shred of cheese or jalapeños, although through the disaster, I did see remnants of both. The guac was bland and mostly solely avocado. I think I saw one tiny piece of tomato somewhere within the glob. Worse was how this was all shoved into the box, piled on top of one another. So, my quesadilla was half covered in beans I didn’t ask for. I think the worst part was the«hot sauce.» I should have known better than to trust a restaurant that doesn’t make their own salsa… or even offer it. S is Mexican and was absolutely disgusted with the food and didn’t even eat half his meal… so, take that for what it’s worth. We won’t be back.

I honestly in my heart of hearts can not figure out why this place have 3 ½ stars — I mean what a fun and pleasant atmosphere. The decorations alone deserve 5+ stars. They go ALL out, you’ll feel like you’re in a haunted house, but yet still family friendly. Our waitress that served us whose service prompted me to write this review, was the bees knees. She was so full of spunk and lively. Though I realize that not many people like a side of conversation with their food, rest assured the first time I came here with my boyfriend, we received a waitress that was more than happy to let him and I have a intimate conversation. Suppose it could go either way for people so I guess that could be one less star if they received a waitress they didn’t like. Because this Mexican restaurant has both. Now with the food… Now the food seems to be the problem for most people. See maybe I’m not picky, not sure — but you’re reading the review of someone who likes Taco Bell(though someone on here compared this place to Taco Bell and said TB was better *side eyes*) This place deserves A LOT more credit! Now someone may receive more cheese than they wanted or the rice is over cooked, but I can honestly say none of that was obvious on my plate. Those people MUST be eating at the Melting Pot every weekend or maybe a sous chef on the side. I tasted some good Mexican food, though nothing to rave about, nothing stood out. It was what I expected so 5 stars there, since I like to be fair with my reviews. But the decorations? Another 5 stars. Our waitress? 5 more. So again, why does this place have 3 ½? At least let this neighborhood staple breathe with a four ½ star rating Wolfgang Pucks.

Decent food, I’ve had better and certainly have had worse. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and requested verde sauce instead of rojo. They were okay a bit dry and rice and beans short on flavor. My companion had the combination plate which was as for meat all ground beef not his favorite but he actually enjoyed his meal more then I did. The salsa was a bit thin, they have bottles on each table which is nice; because you don’t have to ask for more. The chips average, I suspect they were bagged. The service was very good. The prices average a bit high for quality. Atmosphere nothing special however I hear they deck the place out at Halloween. Not my first pick for mexican. I possibly might go back more then likely not.

Love this place! We tend to go more during halloween and Christmas because I love the way they devorate. It’s become a family tradition! Foods yummy and the reasonably priced. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is the waitresses seem to always forget to check on us. I always end up asking a different one for help. Also their salsa is nit my favorite. It’s good. but I’ve had better. You most check out their halloween décor!

Manuel’s is an AP oldie. The quality has definitely declined over the last few years and prices have gone up. For some reason, the last few times I’ve been there have been hit or miss, and the inconsistency makes me not want to dine there as much anymore. I usually order a taco salad, sometimes there is not enough chicken, sometimes it’s overloaded. Service is fast. It can get pretty packed on weekend evenings and the parking lot is tiny.

This place will always hold a special place in my heart! Great food, great people! I have worked here when I was a kid so I know their process and cleanliness. They get the beans in their whole form and make it all from scratch, no frozen ga-baj from Manuels«Taco Hut». Keep up the good work crew! Tonight I got– Combo Grande Super burrito steak Fajita Burrito 2 chicken tacos Guac And friendly service! ;/)

Tried Manuel’s Taco Hut on a friend’s recommendation. First, the Halloween decorations were amazing. It was like a mini fun haunted house, even after we were seated, with various«attractions» coming to life throughout the evening. It made the 20+ minute wait much more bearable. Which brings us to the actual food. The chips were stale and clearly not made in-house. The salsa, which I expected from other reviews, was downright dreadful. It was red water with a hint of spicy flavor buried somewhere deep within. There was no «scooping» salsa onto the chips — you just kind of dunked them and hoped they got wet enough that you could taste it on the pasty, stale, flavorless chips. Onward to the entrees. The quesadilla was dripping grease out the ends while I was eating it. The flavor was fine, and the jalapenos inside tasted good, but I had to find plate real estate to hold the dripping grease. This worked out, because after one bite of the canned flavorless refried beans, I decided that would be the«garbage dump» part of my plate and it could hold the extra grease. The highlight of the meal was the chicken fajita. Generously piled with tender and flavorful meat, and interspersed with some correctly cooked(albeit bland) vegetables, this would be the piece of the meal I’d order again. The beef chimichanga was crisp on the outside, but the dough was rather thick and there wasn’t a ton of beef in it. The rice was passable. Manuel’s would definitely have been a two-star restaurant if it weren’t for a combination of the neat decorations/experience and the absolutely delightful and attentive waitress. These rescued the kitchen from making me a sad, sad taco-or-treater. I would never visit this place outside of their«decoration months» of October and December, and even then it would be more of a «novelty if I had children» rather than a place to drive out of my way to eat.

Yup, that’s right — 5FULL Stars for the month of October. Manuel’s Taco Hut is transformed into another entity during the month of Halloween. It’s a bit of haunted house meets Palace Amusements with skeletons that tell jokes while their eyes light up and try to hypnotize you! The low lighting and varying spookish music mixed with fun jams like ‘Monster Mash’ all add to the excitement of this place. I can only comment on the month of October but it’s become a bit of a tradition to get our Halloween fix at Manuel’s Taco Hut. It can get pretty busy and they have a small parking lot so I recommend parking on a side street such as Luana Ave(corner of Ecorse Rd). The staff are quick, polite and some of them even dress up in different characters just to add to the fun(our waitress was a devil and another one was Wonder Woman). Even though the lighting is low it was MUCH lower last year(so low, you would need to use your phone to read the menu) so the small change is appreciated. After being seated, be aware that the music and lighting may change all of a sudden so that some ghoul or werewolf in the corner can howl. If that doesn’t get you, try the ghosts that will scare you with a big BOO or the animated spider that likes to drop from the ceiling. As for the food, it’s decent Mexican-American food, heavy on the cheese and meat which is typical. It’s definitely not my grandma’s recipe but it’s good with large portion sizes to feed hungry customers. Like lots of places, they give you chips and 2 different salsas(mild and HOT). There aren’t any vegetarian dishes but you can get most items without meat. IF you are looking for lots of vegetables, I would go for a salad(sorry, I know that’s a typical answer!) or a botana, which is loaded with tomatoes, lettuce, olives, vinegar jalapenos, fresh avocado, etc. Botana’s are something like a nacho-supreme. A small botana could easily feed two. YUM! If you’re not super hungry, there are items under $ 2 a la carte. You’ll come here just as much to eat as for entertainment value and what’s better yet, I’ve never met a kid or adult who didn’t have a blast!
