The lock on an inside door had broken. Called the locksmith at 8:53am. which was 7 minutes before regular business hours so an additional $ 40 was charged — they failed to mention that until the bill was received. A whopping $ 274 for less than an hour of work. Should have read the ratings before calling this company.

My fiancé locked her keys in her car in the city of Allen, TX. Being a fan of using local businesses, she contacted Allen Locksmith to see if it would be worth having a locksmith come open it or should we make the 30 minute run to the house to pickup the other key. When asked what it would cost, she was told $ 15 trip charge and $ 35 and up, depending what had to be done to get the car open. Having had a similar situation not too long ago, I knew what would be involved in opening the vehicle and knew that it was very quick. She told them to come on out. They promised her that they would be there in 20 minutes, and showed up just over an hour later. And to beat that, the locksmith was not even an employee of the local business that we chose to patronize. They had contracted another locksmith from Dallas to do the work(Avenue Locksmith) Once he showed up, he popped out the cuff, stuck it between the car and the door, pumped it up and reached in with his tool and pulled the door handle to unlock the door. Honestly, without exaggeration, less than 30 seconds. He then proceeded to write the invoice for $ 178. This«bait and switch» practice should not be tolerated. I made 3 calls to the office and each time was told that they would call me back within an hour and never called back. Finally on the third call, they told me that they were not going to do anything to make it right. I may have taken one for the team, but I would urge you to do your homework before doing business with Allen Locksmith. If nothing else, go and read their web site. That may be enough to lead you in another direction. A complaint has been filed with the Better Business Bureau as well.
