This store honestly isn’t bad. Not the best Big Lots, but not the worst but COULD be a great one. I think it would be a great store if it had another general manager. The general manager for this location is absolutely HORRIBLE! His name is James. I shop at big lots quite often. You really can find some really great brands and products for way less cost of the bigger chain stores. So certain items, I will only buy at Big Lots because some things I’ll buy here will be 50−75% off of Walmart, Target, Kroger’s, etc*. And you cannot beat that when you have a bigger family. But let me tell you, this manager(James) is really probably one of the rudest persons I have met. I would understand if a customer was being rude or being obnoxious or something in his store but I am a very nice and friendly person and he has NEVER been nice to me. And it’s not just me, I have friends who have said the same thing! And I even see how he treats customers while waiting in line. And don’t even get me started on his employees. And I will say, this store actually has some really great employees. They are ALL very kind, helpful, knowledgable and they all have wonderful customer service. And the way he treats his employees absolutely disgust me. Does he not understand that this store would not be running well without these employees? Because it wouldn’t. But I just really don’t understand how you can treat all of your customers so crappy! Loyal, paying, returning, customers. I was a manager at a little store back in college and I would never treat anyone the way he treats his customers. And when I was in retail I was always told, «the customer is always right» no matter what. And this man will sit there and argue with you and tell you that you are wrong. Literally. He has literally sat there arguing with me and got so incredibly defensive and rude telling me that I am wrong about the price of something and when he went back to check on the price and realized that he was in fact wrong, he said NOTHING! No apology for being rude, no thank you for shopping here, not a «have a good day», nothing! He said nothing after that! And before checking and changing the price he was treating me as if I were too cheap or poor or something to pay the price and also acting as if I were lying to get a price break… Like come on I’m spending over $ 100 dollars in here right now. I just could not believe it. He even had the nerve to say, «it’s only $ 3.50 more, you can’t pay that?». I was baffled. I could not believe the GENERALMANAGER of this store had said that to me! And not only that, he COMPLETELY embarrassed me inside that store. I literally walked out with my head down because of what a scene he made over this. I could have and obviously would of paid the extra $ 3.50 but the fact of the matter is that he needs to constantly make sure that his signs advertising a certain price or deal are correct and/or up to date. This was not my fault even though he acted as if it were, this was entirely his fault. Somebody needs to knock some sense into this man! He is not right for the position of the general manager. However, there are two other managers actually three other managers whom I cannot remember the names of but they are GREAT! And two of them(both female) have gone above and beyond for me when they did not have to. I would have given this store more than 1 star but it truly only deserves 1 star with this manager(James) running this location. Big Lots PLEASE do something about this! This store has SO much potential! Until I see changes this store has lost my business along with friends and families business. Which is a lot. I do typically spend quite a bit of money at this store as I cannot help myself when passing by such great deals !! As for now, I and my friends and family will have to continue spending a bit more money at the larger stores(Walmart, Target, Kroger’s etc*) until this problem is fixed and then big lots will have me and my friends and family back! And I long wait for this day! Big Lots PLEASE hear me out and fix this so I can start saving lots of money again! I am sure I am not the only one!

I do think its funny that there are no current reviews. I was employed here for 7yrs and was let go last week. The staff is constantly changing. Me and a few others who had been there for ever knew what we were doing. But the store manager treats people badly and I don’t know how this store stays going. The prices are great and it looks clean but recently there was a rat problem that seems to be fixed and I have seen maggots in the food and pet food area. It is an old building it is bound to have these things and the company is fast about fixing it. You have to check the food dates a lot of time expired stuff gets missed they have one sometimes two people who go threw the food about three times a month to pull it and mark down the stuff about to go out. the restrooms are nasty there is a vendor that comes in and cleans but not enough no one who works there thinks they make enough to clean them. Just last month we had a homeless lady destroy a stall in the womens restroom and had to be banded. Good sales and good products. I use to run furniture and the name brands are good but if you don’t recognize who made it it more then likely will brake and is cheep. Best of luck to this store. Hope they get better management.

This is the only Big Lots I’ve ever been to so I can’t compare it to other locations. However, the services has been friendly and the store is kept well organized. I give it 4 of 5 stars because its hit and miss what you will find in there and quality isn’t always 100%. Bought my daughter a toy box there that wouldn’t assemble the way the instructions said it should so I had to engineer my own solution. I also bought two sets of plates from there that were apparently B stock(came with blemishes from the manufacturer) and that wasn’t clearly labelled on the box. Price was reasonable given the quality but not as great of a deal if the plates had been in better condition.

I love me some big lots. I can’t help it. Great for cleaning supplies, cheap décor, and seasonal decorations. Love it for my cheapside!
