Good selection. Customer service not so great. I wish when it got busy at registers there would be more help. Also I roamed around the store for an hour and not one person asked me if I needed help. They also tell me to «order it online» instead because their computer is slow or they have too many customers is register. I spend so much money here, as I just moved into my new home and redecorating. I wish I had good help at this store

I went to find specific items for my office at work. A nice young lady went in the back to look. She explained that they’d just received their shipment and hadn’t unpacked yet. She offered to take my contact info and said they’d call me later in the week. I left the store thinking that I wouldn’t hear from anyone and planned to just order the items online. Well, I received a voicemail at almost 10pm that same night from her stating they found what I wanted and would hold them for me. Nice! I went back the next day and made my purchase. I explained to the store manager how pleased I was that I was contacted so fast. She thanked me for letting them know about my experience, and I left the store happy to have the items I really wanted.

To the older lady with the straight, greyish hair working the register at Pier One on June 17, 2015 at about 11:45am: I just wanted to let you know that you cost your store a sale today and here are the reasons why. I was casually dressed, hair in a pony tail, carrying a large umbrella, and no purse. I hate carrying purses. You asked me if you could help and I said no thank you, I am just looking. You then looked at me very obviously, from my head to my toes and for whatever reason got a good look at my umbrella. This rubbed me the wrong way. I however, brushed it off because I do on occasion have a serious tendency to have RBF and can come off as kind of rude even though I don’t feel that way on the inside. After walking around for a few minutes, I finally found what I was looking for. Silver glass globes that were battery operated and had a nice, twinkling light inside of them. I am redoing my office, you see? The globes were in their boxes on the very bottom of the shelf and there were none on display. So I knelt in the floor and proceeded to open a box, which had already been opened, and look at the globe to determine if it looked anything like it did online. You walked up to me as I was kneeling in the floor with the open box, and stood there with a markdown sheet in your hand, you didn’t say a word. After about five seconds I realized you were not going anywhere and your demeanor and rudeness made me have a surge of anger. I suppressed the urge to ask you if I could help you, and instead looked up and you questioningly. You stated simply, «cool, huh?». I said yes, that these were what I had seen online yesterday. You then waited until I put the 8″ silver glass globe back in the box and stood up and you walked away without a word. You did not ask me if you could help. You did not inquire about me seeing these on the Pier One website. You did nothing to initiate conversation or create a sale. You were just rude. I have worked in retail as an assistant manager for years. I have sold all sorts of things from clothes to high-end jewelry. I know how the retail game goes. If my casual appearance, RBF, and umbrella had you concerned that I was a thief, then there were ways of going about that to deter someone from stealing. Being nice and trying to sell them something is usually the best deterrent for thieves. I however, was not stealing, I had found what I wanted and had a hundred dollar bill in my pocket to buy it. So, the lesson here today is, do not judge a book by it’s cover. You don’t know who that person is or how much money they have. Maybe they don’t like dressing up. Sometimes the people who do dress up actually do not have money. Soooo… I will make my purchase online instead of in your store and if for some reason I need to return it, I will make sure that I return it to you.
