Sonic Drive-In

So sad I have to update my review and knock off a few stars. Used to LOVE this Sonic but apparently there is a new manager (Ted? I hope I’ve got the right person) and now it’s cold and «by the book,» not particularly customer flexible or friendly anymore. The long-​time car hops have all left since the new guy came on. I miss the friendly faces!
On one recent occasion I placed a order for food and drinks using drink coupons/​surveys for the XL size (Rt. 44.) I gave them my coupons when they delivered the food and we began to leave. The manager (a guy in his 30’s) came running out of the store & said that one of the coupons was for a Large, not a Rt. 44. I told him it was an accident and said I’d gladly pay the difference. He was fine with that, but I asked what he would have done if I hadn’t offered to pay the difference. He said, «I’d have to take the drink back and throw it away.»
On another visit we were «shorted» on an order of onion rings where the menu clearly says «4 onion rings.» I wouldn’t normally care, but my kids were splitting them — each to have 2 rings. I said something to the car hop when he came back by and he told me all about how one was big so it counted as «2» of the rings.
It’s stupid, petty stuff that’s irritating me. I thought it was ridiculous that they chased me down like a criminal over the wrong coupon. My understanding is that they put the surveys in a little sack, then throw the sack away from time to time, so I don’t know what the deal was. I (used to) go into that store 4 days a week, but now I go about 3 times every 2 weeks.
It’s a shame. Used to love this place.

It was late and I saw a commercial advertising the Sonic Blasts. It looked like the perfect late night treat. So I go to Sonic and order an Oreo Blast. What I received was more like soft-​serve vanilla ice cream with whip cream and Oreo pieces on top. Super lame.

Really? Everything taste like every thing else. The fries are terrible and so are the tots. Who the heck wants soft serve add what you want half way frozen milk for a shake. Will never go back.

I love Sonic. All the food is good, but the drinks: Wow. Best place to go during the summer for all of their drinks.

Come here when I’m in the area during happy hour. Sonic drinks in general are pretty overly sweet for my taste but I just add water to them to dilute it. The service here was VERY fast, no sooner than we ordered our two drinks, corn dog, and brownie fudge sundae the man was right own on his skates in no time and traveled back for our extra spoons. Great service! As for food, I mean it’s fast food it’s not like your asking for gourmet food, so for me the food is just meh. Really only come here for a quick super high.

You can buy a gallon of iced tea. Mint sweet green tea or any other iced tea. Decent food, it’s sonic.

We love getting ice cream treats here. So fast and so nice.

We only get drinks here.

This is my local Sonic so I am here multiple times per day so believe me when I say these people are good. Their food is excellent if you like drive-​in food. If you don’t like drive-​in food, come just for the fountain drinks or try ice cream treats.
The management runs a tight ship so the place is clean, open when they say they will be. Staff is friendly and always has a smile on their face. Yes, it *is* in their job descriptions. At least one carhop on every shift has on roller skates, either inline or boxcars. It is Sonic tradition and wearing them earns the carhop a premium on their paycheck.
Having said all that, I was very excited but leery when I first heard about getting a Sonic so close. I mean — a Sonic right around the corner… OMG!!! But oh no… what if they were terrible? But if I could only remember to use my Unilocal checkin properly, you would see me as the most common customer of any restaurant ever! They started out with a bang and have kept their standards high since then.
If you want to try a Sonic, this one is the one to choose.

You. Have. To. Try. The. Mozzarella. Sticks… AMAZING!!!
Their Sonic Blasts are veery good. So are the malts, but if you ask for extra malt, watch out because they give you a LOT of malt.

Needed something to drink. Was during 2 – 4 pm. WOO HOO!

They are always so nice here. They’ve even come back out while I was eating to ask if I needed anything. This is about the only place I’ll order (and gobble) onion rings — they are sooo good. And I splurge every now and again to get the foot long (yes foot long) hot dog with chili. Oh my. I love to makeup my own drinks too.
This is also the only place I usually eat the tater tots on the way home (I usually don’t eat there). If I have any left, one of my cat’s steals a tater tot to take a bit (teeny tiny bit though). It ends up on the floor but it gives him great pleasure to hunt and attack a tater tot (disclaimer — no cats are hurt during the hunt and conquer expedition — they are cool by the time of the hunt and he only eats a pinch — sometimes I think it’s just where his fangs dug into the tater tot).

This is our «home Sonic». It’s in a nice part of town, and this establishment keeps up it’s end of the bargain. It’s always clean, and the staff are fast, efficient and courteous. The food is, well, if you’ve been to one Sonic, you’ve been to them all. Burgers, fries, onion rings and hot dogs rule the day here. We’ve never had a bad meal. And don’t forget the drinks; Sonic is famous for their wide variety of soft drinks and non-​carbonated drinks. Definitely a local favorite.
