Charlie K’s Pizza

I’ve been going to Charlie K’s since I was a little tyke! My grandfather used to bring me here every Saturday since I was big enough to crawl my butt up on the stool at the counter. The pizza crust is frozen which is never my favorite but for some reason with Charlie K’s it has never bothered me. The pizza is delicious! I think part of my love for this place is the nostalgia of sharing good times at the counter with my grandfather.
They also offer take home pizza kits which is the exact same pizza as they serve. If anyone from Charlie K’s reads these Unilocal reviews please GIVE US MORE CHEESE WITH OUR KITS! How in your right mind can you think the measly bit of cheese you give us will cover 3 pizzas? Its only good for about 1 ½ pizzas! I understand they make money on most people buying extra cheese but it should just come with the kit. Minus one star for the stinginess on the cheese. Otherwise the kit is great!
Charlie K’s has been a fixture at the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market for years. Take your kids or grand kids and enjoy a slice!

I have been eating at Charlie K’s for 50 years. Good pizza at a good price.

I’ve had Charlie K’s a few times when visiting the Farmer’s Market (awesome place). Kind of gross. Tastes like store-​bought dough, cheese, and sauce in a pizza shape. This would only taste great if you’ve never left Allentown.
2 stars instead of 1 because of the take-​home kit. I haven’t tried it yet, but it seems fun…

Before you try a slice from Charlie K’s you have to understand that this is not your traditional NY Style pizza. Charlie K’s is a very crispy style kit pizza with tangy sauce made only in the Allentown Farmers Market. They use pre-​made pizza crusts, put sauce and cheese on them, toss it in an oven for ten minutes and you are eating. This place is an institution at the Allentown Farmers Market and it is one the places you MUST try if you are a first time visitor.
No matter the time of day, there will be people sitting at the counters enjoying some Charlie K’s. Personally, I typically will get two slices and a birch beer. Without fail, no matter the time of day or rush I am in there is always time for Charlie K’s.
Typically, you will also see people buying take out pizza kits. With this kit you get two crusts, sauce and cheese. Typically people will also buy extra cheese because the measured amount of cheese provided is often not enough for the heavy handed cheese loving public.

I go to the farmers market just for their pizza… You can find yourself a stool or get a take home kit and it’s always awesome!
