Very good turkey breast sandwich. Fresh lettuce tomatoes and onions on top, YUM. Fresh stuff daily

As a neighbor of this quaint little Allentown establishment, I wanted more than anything to love this restaurant. To have a deli within walking distance of my home is dream come true. However, I could not have been more disappointed by my experience. One fair summer morning, I decided to give the West End Deli a shot. I had a commitment just down the road at 10am, so I showed up at 9:15 thinking I would have ample time to get my sandwich and eat it too. I was apparently asking for far too much, and they let me know it. My breakfast buddy and I went inside to let the servers know we would be dining outside, and we grabbed menus and placed our drink orders. We sat outside for about 10 minutes before anyone came outside. It didn’t seem very busy inside, but the woman was clearly flustered, so we weren’t too upset about it. She took our orders and warned us there would be a wait. 9:45 rolled around and we decided to head inside to tell them we would like our orders to-go instead since we were running out of time. The server was disgusted by this request, and after overcoming her disbelief she rudely informed us «well, you’re still going to have to wait». After that encounter, we waited another 15 minutes for two overpriced bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches. I will say, however, that my sandwich was quite tasty. I will not be returning.

Had breakfast there. Very good. Loved the atmosphere. Loved the clientele. Very polite and friendly. Allentown needs more places like this!

Great little place. Menu is limited but everything is delicious. I’ve only been there for breakfast, but they have lunch options. I usually get an omelette with homefries or the cream cheese scrambled eggs. Good portion sizes. It’s a small place but friendly and cozy. Feels like home.

Quaint local Jewish deli and restaurant. Not huge inside, but enough room to feel at home. Very relaxing atmosphere! Kathy, I’m assuming the owner, was very polite. Excellent customer service — with a smile. I got the day’s special: Breakfast Crêpe — lox, egg, scallion and a white sauce on top; sliced cubed potatoes as the side. The smoked salmon was tender, excellent flavor(not too much salt, too)! Well-mixed scrambled eggs. The crêpe had a white gravy-like sauce on top — I didn’t hear exactly what it was. It was subtle and creamy. Perhaps their personal take on a «gravy»… Whatever, it only complemented more. The fried potatoes had a light dusting of seasoning. Soft in the center. With tax and tip, just over $ 12. Score! Oh, and if you need to use the restroom its thru the kitchen and down to the basement.

This is my favorite place to eat in Allentown. Always a warm friendly atmosphere and great coffee. Eggs, home-fries(I order them with onions — yum!), real rye toast, incredible selection of salads, vegetarian chili and always a great selection of cakes and sweets(the chocolate peanut butter pie is a particular favorite). I love Syb’s!

Sybs Deli; a co worker introduced me back in 2005. Great food, reasonable prices, small cozy deli get the Turkey Special you won’t be disappointed. This is a neighborhood deli, not a chain store. A top pick in my opinion.

Syb’s! Ain’t nothin’ like it. There isn’t a whole lot of variety on the menu, but that to me is the sign of a good place — instead of doing 200 things okay, they do ten things very well. The challah french toast is unspeakably delicious, and their omelettes are quite good as well. The best part is the eccentric décor(your coffee will be served in one of the mugs that seem to be part of the owner’s lifelong collection) and the friendly, sweet waitstaff. Only downside is the size of the place. It’s a tossup whether or not you’ll be able to eat there, because if more than 3 other people got there before you, there won’t be room. They’ll make their best attempt to wedge you between the dead fish staring at you from the deli window and the draft coming from the door, though. No offense, Syb’s. I love you forever.

This is one of those little local places that seems like it’s been around forever and has a ton of character. Plus, the food is good! I really enjoyed my chicken salad sandwich and look forward to trying their breakfast. They have a lot of interesting deli/café choices and the staff are nice and down-to-earth. We ate outside and they offered to bring a bowl of water to our dog. Nice!

Fast service and good prices; although the waitresses were very pleasant as was the owner, the inability to remember requests(such as, bringing hot sauce to the table) takes it down a star. Would like to come back to try breakfast, got there after 12 and had to order lunch. The reuben sandwich was succulent and not overly greasy. The falafel pita was ok, but a little messy to eat. Outdoor seating available.

Super friendly neighborhood eatery with excellent, friendly service, which is a real rarity in this area. We always go for breakfast, and are always pleased. Great smoked fish, pastrami and eggs, bagels, etc. Good selection of natural sodas. What can I say? I’m a sucker for Jewish deli food, and theirs does not disappoint. It’s true what a previous reviewer said, the waitress did remember our names after 2 or 3 visits.

Only had the lox and bagel but it was great. Hard to find that type of food in this area. Very friendly service and nice atmosphere.

I went there on my birthday. When I tried the whitefish and the challah French toast. I was In heaven. It was some good food that I missed from Brooklyn. Want to go back to try the pastrami.

If you’re hungry for breakfast and you’re in Allentown(or, heck, in Bethlehem or Easton), stop at Syb’s. No, Tom S., they don’t serve pork products because it’s a Jewish deli, so you’ll have to satisfy your scrapple cravings elsewhere. And, yes, it does have a slightly fishy fragrance(like all great Jewish delis do), but that’s because that’s exactly what you should order. My go-to: 3-egg omelet with a side of kippered salmon(a cured salmon that’s a little less oily than lox). Back-up: A corned beef sandwich on a toasted sesame bagel with brown mustard, served with a pickle. If you’re starving, a side of potatoes will do. You’ll just have to ask for the Frank’s RedHot. The servers are lovely and liberal with the coffee pot. Come a couple times and they’ll learn your name. I’ve yet to leave this place without that warm, fuzzy feeling of helping out a local business. Or maybe that’s just the effects of that third cup of coffee.

My favorite breakfast place. I love their bagels and thick, fluffy omelettes, both for under $ 5. Their coffee is the best in town, in my opinion. Sometimes I go with a friend just for a coffee and some conversation. It is a Jewish deli so there aren’t any pork products as far as I can tell. Syb’s has a really great neighborhood feel. I’m no expert on their brunch foods, but the quiche I had once was really good too. The challah french toast is delicious. They have a nice selection of unusual sodas and juices too. The owner and waitstaff are always friendly and upbeat and would love to get to know you. The only downsides are that it can get crowded on weekends, so you have to figure out the right time to come, and that the menu is not very big or varied so you might get a little bored after a while. Overall, though, I can say I love this place so much that when I forget they’re closed on Mondays and walk over, my mood is ruined for the rest of the day.

Very small… crowded with tables shoved into every nook and cranny. A quaint place. Food is okay, but seemed average.

I really wanted to like this neighborhood café more than I did. I was there for breakfast, which is what most frequent the restaurant for. It was very cute — a homey sort of feel to it. There were a lot of younger people there — mostly younger professors from nearby Muhlenberg College. I ordered scrambled eggs with toast. Everything was sufficient, and the service friendly, but nothing to write home about. If you have a friend in the area, meet them there, otherwise it’s not worth the drive across town for.

Syb’s is a cute little place. Friendly staff. Retro vibe. Clientele that looks like they’ve been going there forever. I really wanted to like it, but the two things I ordered were pretty bad. Judging from the number of smiley faces in the restaurant, I have a feeling I didn’t order the right thing but you get lots of smiley faces in Mickey D’s too so… Whatever you do, don’t order the Black Bean Chili. Unless you like it really sour. So sour it makes your hair stand and eats the enamel of your teeth all away. I’m pretty sure the chili wasn’t bad/decomposing cause all of the beans were firm and whole. I have a feeling the cook — in his/her haste — or some disgruntled Syb’s employee poured a whole gallon of pickle juice into the pot. I went online and checked up recipes for black bean chili and some called for vinegar but just a tablespoon. The spinach quiche probably would’ve tasted pretty good two weeks earlier when it was first baked. It looked good in the window, but when I bit into the crust all I could taste was rancid oil. Bleaugh. Unfortunately, I had done take-out, so I couldn’t send the food back. Instead, I sat in my apartment, trying to keep the food down. I ended up throwing away the soup. I probably would’ve been better off using it to polish the brass pots in my house.
