My favorite memories in boston took place here! What an upside down, inside-out crazy place for fun! So sad that it is gone. Represents the complete lame overhaul of the new all/bri. So sad. *tear*

Alot of times I feel sad for Kinvara. Its not a bad bar in particular, the set up is tables to the far left near a dart board, the rectangular bar that juts out into the room, the far right is tables along the walls and some moving space. The place is somewhat dark, has a deep wood finish if I remember(I never stare at the walls much). Service is cordial and efficient. Bathrooms are straight back from the door. Beers are moderately expensive, around 3 bucks or maybe 3 and a quarter for a pint of bud, kind of pricey. But they are joining in that new wave in town where high life bottles are only 2.50 a piece which keeps me stopping by now and then. I’ve yet to see a cover. My standard time at Kinvara goes like this: I show up with a friend, the place is empty, its around 5:30 or 6pm, still light out, the bartender is opening the place up, gets us a beer. We bullshit about something over that, get about half way through another one when the music turns on and people start to show up. We pound the rest of the beer, bail out, show back up at 1:15am for lack of anywhere better to go for a last beer or two when we’re drunk enough to tolerate the horrible top 40 that rumbles the place. Minus the shitty music and guys in collard shirts and girls with cleavage showing black tops and jeans for their overly fat or flat asses it wouldnt be half bad. Between the two though– it just kills it. Dont eat much bar food so I dont know about that. Parking in front so watch yourself i’ve seen one or two drunks pulling in or out in a very unsmooth fashion. Avoid sitting in certain corners where the speakers are, you’ll notice those places tend to have empty tables because anyone sitting at them cant hear a thing over Sean Paul encouraging us to «make it clap».

Club Kinvara is good craic but is no more, it’s gone to the big old keg in the sky. But, you can still try and savour the old ambience in the new pub that’s taken its place, some place called The Draft that I ain’t tried yet:

Use to be a huge late night hangout where anyone could get lucky at 2AM. I heard it is closing in 2 months due to lack of business. Too bad, its a part of Allston history!

Not the cleanest bar around, but the food is surprisingly good. Team Trivia on Wednesday nights is packed, but you can win enough to cover your bar tab for the night. Any other night, it’s relatively quiet, though you will find some soccer fans who come here to watch the occassional televised games.
