Used to love coming to this place on the weekends. Went there today and was so sad to see that they have closed down! I hope they re-open in another location. It was a unique, authentic and well priced local option!

We really enjoy our time at Breadtime to celebrate my bestie’s birthday. Its décor imitates Germany’s local café. The waitresses are extremely friendly. They check with us to refill our drinks all the time. Dutch bread with butter are served. These are not as flurry and soft as American bread. I am not a big fans of that. These are the entrees we ordered: * Jaeger Schnitzel: Light & crispy pork chop with marinated mushroom(with white wine). Really enjoy it. * Creamy porcini & white musrhoom: The spaezles are homemade at the restaurant. The sauce of the marinated mushrooms are very similar to the Jaeger Schnitzel’s. A little filling; but it’s very pleasant. * Fruid Tart: Fluffy and light topped with berries. This is awesome! The pictures of the entrée can be found at the following address:

Staff was nice. Food was slightly above average. Menu was limited for lunch. Will give it another shot — but can’t even remember what I had when I went there — that should tell you something.

This is a German restaurant but you can’t tell by the name or the décor inside. The food here was terrible and expensive. The first clue should have been that were only 3 people on a Friday night. My wife ordered some chicken schnitzel, mushroom and pasta dish. I had the curry bratwurst and potatoes. Both dishes were terrible. The sauce on the curry bratwurst tasted exactly like bbq sauce. The bratwurst was small and tasted like it came from a grocery store. They are supposed to be a bakery but that has got to be a joke. There was only one kind of bread. It was dry and looked like it came out of a bag. Even our desserts were terrible. The fruit custard was runny. The fruit cheese cake was frozen. Our waitress tried to defrost it in the microwave so the crust was warm but the cheese filling was still frozen. The display of desserts looked liked it was from the Soviet era. This may be an East German restaurant, who knows? It was sparse with a few dried up pastries, a few cookies and 1 cake. The wastress was nice as she could be and we gave her a decent tip because kind of felt sorry for her. Her co-worker waiter stood at the counter and read his book most of the time. He really didnt seem to care whether people bought or not. I was starving and I dont waste so I still ate everything. My wife thru out half her dish. The entrees were about $ 13-$ 15 each — total ripoff. I think this owner doesnt have a clue on how to run a restaurant.

Authentic German food and build Limited menu but it’s all the real deal Hopefully as they grow a larger menu becomes possible Love the large wheat beer on tap(HefeWeizen) meat and cheese platter and the real bread and butter The Schnitzel is a favorite All the deserts are just like back home too The German quiche was great Made with onions and ham it’s more bready and not the French eggy version

It was something different. The food was not bad at all, this place just wasn’t my cup of tea.

Delicious authentic German food! Friendly service. The Reuben was the best I have ever had. The apple strudel was amazing. It’s always a good sign when half the customers are speaking German.

Breadtime was a few shades better than«just okay». Nothing I’d avoid, but nothing I’d enthusiastically recommend either. It’s decidedly German, which was great– who else in Atlanta serves Currywurst? The desserts were also amazing. I’d go here just for dessert again in a heartbeat. But the service was iffy, and soft drinks were from cans, which always bugs me.

Wanting again to have some German food, we sought out Breadtime for lunch when we were in Alpharetta. Breadtime was a somewhat quaint but clean little stand-alone restaurant. Upon entering, you could immediately see displays of their baked goods — cakes, breads, apple strudel, shortbread cookies, chocolate truffles, etc. We were seated at a tiny little table, tucked away in the corner, by quite possibly the only waitress working in the whole place. Being easily forgotten about by our waitress, it took us some time to get our orders in, water refills, and our payment collected. For that reason, I was left with a rather poor impression of their service. However, the food was pretty good. I ordered the Dusseldorfer Currywurst, a weisswurst sausage topped with curried ketchup accompanied with bratkartoffeln(similar to home fry style potatoes, pan fried with butter and onion). It was very tasty and the perfect portion size for me to have as a lunch item. My wife ordered spaetzle with creamy porcini and white mushrooms. She really enjoyed her meal too(as it was loaded with quality mushrooms). We finished our meal with a couple of the bakery items — two shortbread cookies and two chocolate truffles. Pretty good, not to mention a good way to finish our lunch. My wife, using Foursquare, got us an $ 8 discount on our lunch(I hope it isn’t considered«bad form» to mention another social media site on Unilocal as a means to get restaurant discounts!).

We went to Breadtime for the first time last night and we we’re blown away by the quality and flavor of the food. We’ve been to Der Biergarten as well as Kurt’s, and Breadtime’s food is far superior. Fred Kraus and his wife run this cozy restaurant very well. They took the time to chat with all the customers in the restaurant, including us. Aside from making sure we were happy with the food and service, they took the time to chat on a personal level which is something that I love about family owned/run restaurants. Go for the Bier, Go for the Schnitzel, Go for the Spaetzel, and very tasty desserts.

I had tasted a few bites of their food at the Taste of Alpharetta last year but had yet to get there until today and it’s very good and a nice unique change from most other offerings in the Roswell area. We went for lunch and I had the pork schnitzel with arugala which was cooked beautifully brown and crispy but not greasy — yum. My friend had a bratwurst with homemade sauerkraut and really tasty potatoes mixed with onions and a little bacon — tasted like a warm potato salad though they called them home fries. The service was attentive. The place is small and cozy. I liked it alot and will go back!

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much. I wanted an inexpensive dinner and had an offer from Scoutmob. Also, carbs have gotten a bad rap over the years so a place called Breadtime didn’t seem like my thing. I’m glad I went, though. The food was really good. And so was the bread! They sat us right next to their dessert display presumably so that we could stare longingly at it throughout dinner. It worked because it gave my husband and me time to discuss what each item was and how much we wanted to devour it… NOW. Needless to stay, we took several desserts to-go. Our food was delicious, too. I ordered the spatzle which was really good. Husband got the schnitzel which he loved. Glad we found this place!

I’ve been craving some sausage meat(yup, that’s what she said) and I honestly didn’t know of any places nearby except for driving all the way to Helen, GA. I finally got a chance to visit Breadtime today for a late lunch. The space here is small as it’s in the old El Azteca space on Alpharetta Hwy near Satay House. It’s a cozy space to say the least and for a Saturday late lunch, it was pretty busy. As soon as you’re done ordering, they bring you a small bread board with 3 pieces(in actuality, it’s 1 ½ thin slices) of bread with butter. It’s kind of a meager offering since I would expect most bakeries to be generous with bread starters. I ordered the Dusseldorfer Currywurst Weisswurst which is a bratwurst sausage covered with a tomato sauce with a side of sliced potatoes. This was great! If only I had more bread or sausage to enjoy it. Unfortunately, I was still hungry after this. I probably should’ve ordered more. Desserts in the case look great! From chocolate croissants to apple strudel and cookies(4/$ 1). Normally, I’d want some of this stuff but I wasn’t in the mood for sweets. There’s a 50% deal on Foursquare and Scoutmob, so that made my trip worth it. Service was great, but I can see how things might get slow since there are only 2 waitresses waiting on the 12+ tables there. I’d definitely come back for my German food fix without having to drive all the way to fake Bavaria-ville in Helen.

well, since i wanted to give the joint a 3.5, i figured i should round up the thing, especially because my wife liked the place, too. the bottom line is, we are going back, if for nothing else to try something other than brunch. we split two meals — the breakfast #5(farmers) and the ham quiche. they’ll start you off with a few slices of bread which is really tasty. the breakfast was great, light. a very thin slice of ham accompanied with delightfully seasoned scrambled eggs, some bread, and some of the best breakfast potatoes i’ve had(short of eating it at home.) the quiche was also tasty. it came with a very plain salad which was still delicious. the crust of the quiche was not like a pie. it was different, crunch — but good. anyway, they did a bang up job on the interior from what was the previous mexican restaurant. it’s been remodeled nicely. it’s very quaint inside(which might translate loosely as not a lot of seating.) here’s a pro-tip for you — not sure how long for… go, M-W from 5 – 6:30 and get 50% off a second entrée with the purchase of one at full price. that’s what i intend to do when i go back to try the schnitzel to see if it stands up to the ones i had in germany. say hi if you see me. ;)

I came in this little restaurant for lunch with high hopes and was delivered them!!! I have to say that I’ll be returning for lunch and or dinner with my husband in the future. I had the Reuben Panini with German potato salad and even as take out the presentation was great. Wish I would’ve taken a picture but I couldn’t wait. The service was great and prompt. I waited about 15 minutes for my lunch to be ready and while waiting I was given some ice water and a table to sit and wait for my food, talk about great service!!! I must say it was delicious and you should come out and try this little mom and pop owned German restaurant! I really can’t wait to come back and have a nice German dinner.

I think, perhaps, the only thing that would make this food better, would be to find myself eating it in Germany. First of all, let me say that the wife & husband team who own and run this place really do pay attention to their customers. And their efforts show. The menu is small and manageable, with traditional German favorites alongside some things you may not have heard of before. My evening here started with a great gathering of friends and some beer(of course). As I write this, I realize I am not knowledgeable enough in the way of beer to speak with any intelligence about the beers served at Breadtime. Suffice it to say that my Dunkel was very good, and everyone at the table seemed pleased overall. Our food started with the Cheese Platter(Kaeseplatte). This was an international selection of cheeses, including a domestic cheese, and it was served with a very nice bread basket. Delicious! My dinner was the fresh-made Spatzle with porcinis and white mushroom cream, and a chicken filet. Hearty and filling. I needed to put some black pepper on it, but I would happily enjoy this dish again. Other noteworthy things on the table: «Schnitzel» with fresh spicy baby Arugula and thinly-sliced, pan-roasted potatoes. The quintessential german dish. Those potatoes were amazing. And the schnitzel was just perfect. And the«Fish and Chips.» Yes, fish and chips, at a German restaurant. Fresh Cod in German beer batter and home remoulade. I may just have to order this at some point. Service was attentive and helpful. And several people enjoyed an espresso with some really magnificent dessert offerings.(This is a bakery, after all.) The Mango Mousse pie was outstanding. And our chocolate-hazelnut pastry was a hit. So yeah, I’m going back. Holler if you’re coming with.

When I heard that a new European bakery/deli was opening right down the street, the German/Polish side of me started tingling! The food was great. I shared a Farmer’s Platter with my husband, which was just the right size for the both of us. It included several different European meats and breads to enjoy. I also got the black forest ham quiche, which was excellent. It was just the right amount of food, which left me feeling satisfied, but not stuffed. My husband got the white asparagus soup, which he let me try. I’m not even a fan of asparagus, and I thought it was very good! The 3-star rating comes from the atmosphere. When we walked in, we were confused as to whether we were supposed to seat ourselves, or wait for someone. The place is small, too, so good luck getting a seat inside. I love all the little shops around the Roswell/Alpharetta area that are able to take you to another part of the world for a moment. This place didn’t do that for me. I’m not saying that I need accordions and servers in lederhosen, and tacky wall decorations. There was just something about eating really good German dishes while«Call Me Maybe» blasts through the speakers, and feeling cramped while trying to enjoy our dishes that didn’t appeal to me. I would go again, because I liked the food. But, I might try sitting outside where I don’t feel as in the way of everyone.

This authentic European bakery/deli is a welcome addition to downtown Alpharetta. Although there are some service kinks to work out, the freshness and quality of the food here make this new spot well worth a visit. I decided to stop in for the first time at noon on Saturday because frankly, I needed something nice and bready in my system to recover from Friday night. With a name like Breadtime, I figured this place would fit the bill… and I was right! My wife and I split the Farmer’s Platter, which is a selection of sliced meats and a nice, large basket of assorted breads. This sampler is the perfect size for sharing and includes black forest ham, prosciutto, mortadella and salami(among others). The accompanying breads were fresh and included a nice variety of soft, crunchy, grainy, melt-in-your-mouth goodies. THIS is exactly what I needed on Saturday, and after polishing off the last crumb I felt like a new man. I also ordered soup and salad on the side. The house salad was light and refreshing, and the white asparagus soup was absolutely killer! It was the perfect, creamy consistency without being overly thick on a hot summer day. Went down smooth and tasted amazing. My wife ordered a black forest quiche which might have been the best quiche I’ve ever tasted. Perfect and buttery with exactly the right amount of flakey crust. This was a rich, decadent slice of heaven. I noticed that they had a nice little selection of European beers on tap, but that was the last thing I needed on this particular day so I stuck to water. The dessert case also beckoned to me with an astonishing selection of tarts, cakes and other sweet confections. But alas, I neglected to save room for any of these tempting treats! There’s always next time. My only complaints focus on logistics and service. It’s a small place, so on a hot day you’re lucky to get a table inside. There’s a lovely little biergarten /outdoor patio if you feel like roasting or the weather is a bit milder. When my wife and I walked into the restaurant, there was no clear way to determine what to do… do we seat ourselves? Wait for a hostess? Order at the register? None of the staff provided any clues, so we shuffled over to the last unoccupied table on our own and this appears to have been the right move. There was also a shortage of menus, so we had to wait for someone else to finish with theirs and then share one. That was odd. Seating and menu hiccups aside, this is a wonderful little German bakery and I know we’ll definitely be returning. My mouth is watering just thinking about that meat platter and bread basket. Next time, I think I’ll try the cheese too.

What a wonderful little find. This is right around the corner from where I work and my boss took me there one day. It’s a German bakery, which you would never guess by the name. Being born and raised in Germany, I’m always looking for some great German food and restaurants. This place has delicious breads! And the atmosphere is nice and reminds me a bit of a German beergarden(minus the fact that you have a view of the road). I had the mixed platter and it was delicious! A typical«Brotzeit». I’m deducting one star for service, because we had to get up and get our own silverware after asking for it 3 times. Other than that, I’ll definitely come back here again!
