How can anyone be mad at a $ 5 meal? It’s a hamburger, 2 sides(I got fries and slaw), and a large drink for 5 clams. I gotta tell you that the Cole slaw is sugary deliciousness. Diabetics, run away now! My hubby says the hush puppies are a win! Also very sweet. Maybe a sugar addiction keeps folks coming back! But no longer a NC secret. Welcome to Atlanta Cook Out and here’s your 5 bucks!!!

The food is not the best, but it’s not horrible. Also, you get a large amount of food for pretty cheap. I think that’s what brings me back. My tip is go in and order instead of waiting in the drive thru– 10 min of my life that I’ll never get back all because I wanted a hotdog. Lol.

My sister lives in Charlotte. Which, means one thing– driving up and down I-85 used to happen frequently for me(now, it is about 1−2X a year). Something about fast food in the Carolinas you couldn’t get in Georgia. Cook Out, being one of them. I thought it would be one of those things, that if I wanted it, I had to drive to SC to get. Then, I heard they opened one up on Moreland, and hit like wildfire. And then, I couldn’t believe it, when I found out they opened one literally down the street from my mom’s house. I mean, are you for real? When I landed, I told her I was hungry. You better believe we went to Cook Out! I was impressed at how nice and new it looked. Went drive through(looked like the menu was the same). The guy told us to order then tells us to wait. OK? Make up your mind! I put in the order: Huge burger with bacon n cheese, bacon cheese dog, burger with tomato n ketchup, and order of hushpuppies. All that, for $ 10.07. Great value, right? We pay, then head out. SOBs didn’t put the damn hot dog in there! WTH! I guess it was God’s way of telling me I need to lose weight. But still, we paid for it… First time I ever had a messed up order at a Cook-Out, and this aint my first rodeo. What a crock, it would happen at the location nearest home. I do however, appreciate the late hours– closing at 3AM on weeknights…

Underwhelming. Unless you are looking for cheap eats. I don’t get Cook Out. Meh fast food in meh surroundings. This ain’t no In n Out burger. The only thing exceptional is the handmade milkshakes. Perhaps that’s the best reason to come to Cook Out. Oh, and did I mention it’s cheap?

First time here, really good burger and dirt cheap. Corn dog as a side is awesome but had to request mustard which was odd. I find it really odd that employees are not allowed to give recommendations. Not sure why management would restrict that.

I’ve never experienced«cook out» before but it was open REALLY late, and that was what I was looking for after a long flight. I’ve definitely had better. The Chicken sandwich I ordered was. lacking. Flavor. Moisture. Everything. The fries were terrible. I actually ended up with two orders — and both were night and day. One over done to the point of not being able to be eaten. The other limp, lacking any real cook and totally bland. The cheese sticks hit the spot. So, that at least kept me going until morning.

Who doesn’t love burgers and dogs? First visit and I’m impressed. Here, you order a tray… pick your choice of main dish plus two sides. Hubs got the burger — it was a dog day for me. We both got slaw and — glory of glories! — fried okra. Nearly as soon as we sat, our order was ready. I have nothing but great things to say — the dogs were yum, with soft fresh buns. The slaw was as slaw should be… NOT sweet. The tea was as tea should be… very sweet. I’ve kept the best for last — the fried okra was as good as any I’ve ever had. Do not miss the opportunity to have the okra when you eat at Cookout.

/TL;DR If you want to dine on the cheap and eat a hella amount of food, you have find the right place. It’s not that bad either. /ATMOSPHERE Think wood. That’s what your butt will be sitting in and what it will be eating off of. I think the concept was to design it to look like a picnic area. #nailedit /FOOD Decent. Nothing to rave about. Wouldn’t suggest the hot dog unless you’re going to heavily dress it up. It’s pretty plain. Once you have a red hot, it’s hard to go back to this. The tray is the mega-deal. Don’t forget the buffalo dipping sauce. /SERVICE There are two attendees from which you can order and pick up your food. Everything moves pretty quickly despite this. When things get packed though, this becomes an epic bottleneck. HOWTOREADMYREVIEWS: 1 Star — Does not approach edible. Enter at your own risk. 2 Stars — If I’m in the area, I’d pick something else. 3 Stars — I would stop by if I happen to be in the area. 4 Stars — I would pick this place out of other places. 5 Stars — I would go out of my way to dine here.

WHERE’S THECHAR? I am accustomed to eating homemade turkey burgers and rarely eat beef burgers, so I don’t like greasy tasting food. However, when my family wanted to try our this burger restaurant, I tagged along because their burgers are ALLEGEDLY grilled. I ordered the small burger with simple toppings and onion rings. I wanted the cheddar but was told that it is a sauce and not actual cheese. The burger was very greasy and did not taste as if it had been grilled. It was so greasy that I had to remove it from the bun, drain it on napkins and eat it with the top bun only. The onion rings and fries were also too greasy, as if they had been soaked in oil. The rings were a bit bland and not crispy enough for my taste. They also needed additional salt. I sampled the hush puppies but they were too sweet. I prefer a more savory bite. Everyone(except me), had a shake and they were all too sweet but keep in mind that I usually make my own with coconut milk and fresh fruit so I am not used to that overly sweet and processed taste. My kids and spouse actually liked the shakes. Nothing about these burgers tasted char-grilled as claimed by the company. I think that the excessive oil just upstaged the taste of the burger. Epilogue: The family has decided that they would not return to this particular restaurant for dinner. However, my daughter will return for the Oreo shake. For me the food was just poorly prepared and not worth a return trip.

This is a new fast food chain that is coming south! The prices are cheap, and it’s fast food. There are a few decent items on here. For a decent price you can get a pretty good combo depending on your choices. I have only been here once. I don’t think I will come too often but if I need a quick bite, I would try it again. I had a spicy chicken sandwich. The sandwich was good but the fries and chicken nuggets were okay. Worth a try to experience once?

Well, found this gem after most of my friends have been bragging about it. Seems to be a popular chain, which I had no idea how big until recently. So its Sunday, me and the wife are both out, she running, me at a bbq at a friends place. After we got done with our social duties we both met up at the house with an appetite, and since today we start a «healthier» lifestyle we said screw it, lets try this place. Made the drive to Alpharetta and got in. It was not super packed so made it easier to order. We got our orders in, sat and promptly got called. Wife got the hot dogs with chili and onions, fried okra and slaw, which she said was delicious. I ordered the crazy meal, Big double with Bacon and Cheese, hush puppies, and a corn dog. Man, I haven’t had any burgers and sides this good in a while, so it was a good surprise. Overall, I liked the place, and so did my wife. We will be back soon, just maybe in a month or two, as I can’t be eating this good all the time. If you are going for a delicious and quick meal check this place out, glad that my friends pointed me here, as the hype was confirmed.

«If your reviews are looking like essays, start a blog. I can’t read your life story on my phone before ordering from the menu.» [Time & Date of visit]: Weekday night dinners, usually around 8pm. [Party Size]: 2 [Location/Ambiance]: Some what hidden as their front street facing sign doesn’t really stand out and you could just miss it, but their entrance also leads to the BP as well as the Varsity. Though since Cook Out has opened, I’m thinking that a lot of the Varsity’s business has gone here instead. Most tables are designed as pic-nic tables, reminiscent of being at someone’s backyard cook out. In the middle and along the western side the restaurant are tables big enough to seat a big group. Coupled with 2-seaters and smaller size tables for maybe four. They also are open from 11:00 until 3 am on weekday nights, with Friday and Saturday staying open late until 4am. Wowwie, at least there’s other options of late night dining if your getting out some where late and are tired of waffle house and taco bell. [Service]: Since this is a fast food joint, order at the counter and pick up there too. Though each visit, every employee has been kind and helpful as for answering any questions. [Food Highlights]: Out West Style burger — I ordered this for my cook out tray, though the cost of making it a «style» and cheese up’d the cost. But still kept it around $ 6. I honestly didn’t taste much of the BBQ sauce, but the bacon was cooked crispy just how I like. It’s not going to be on a top 10 burger of Atlanta, but I would say this has way better tasting patties than McDonalds. For a fast food burger, this is the go to spot for me. Mexi Hot Dog — Another visit, and I chose these for my cook out tray selections. The chili was ok, not anything to write home about. Maybe on par with Wendy’s. Though I hope that it isn’t made in the same manner. The cheese is of the melted condiment kind. But I think what over powered most of the toppings were the tomatoes. They really piled it on. As for the hot dog it self, just a regular hot dog. Maybe better than QT’s? Hush Puppies — Side items. I wasn’t feeling fries the first stop here, and the cashier recommended them. I’m glad she did. These are so good. I don’t care if it’s pre made, their that good for a fast food joint. Cajun Chicken Wrap — A piece of chicken tender strip wrapped in a tortilla with some lettuce. Though the cajun flavor was probably better than the ranch and honey mustard. It’s not spicy, but just a slight little baby kick. Reminds me of the KFC version, but better. Corn Dog — The usual frozen kind of variety. Though it’s not bad, but it’s just meh altogether. Cheerwine fountain — All I can say wooooo, gimme some more! I love this soda since trying some back in Tallahassee. Though only a few restaurants actually have it. [Total Bill w/Tip & Tax]: Usually under $ 10 for sure, for a cookout tray. {Summary}: Good cheap eats even if it’s fast food.

The fast food darling of the Carolinas is now available in Atlanta OTP! This is their second location in Metro Atlanta after arriving in East Atlanta Village about a year ago. For the uninitiated, Cook-Out has a devoted and ever growing following in the specialty fast food market that is beginning to rival that of long time chains like In-N-Out and Whataburger. They focus on foods«Cooked Outdoors» and thus the delightful charcoal grilled flavor on their signature burgers and hot dogs combined with the light and fluffy battered corn dogs and hushpuppies. Cook-Out made a name for themselves early on for two things: late night hours and super cheap pricing. They are available from 11am until 3am everyday, with extended hours on Friday and Saturday than can go as late as 5am. The most cost effective way to eat at a Cook-Out is the«Cook-Out Tray»(or a combo meal anywhere else). You pick a main or two, couple sides, and a beverage. The unique thing about Cook-Out is that you can really pick anything you want in the tray and the price rarely strays above $ 5. The charcoal grill marks on the hot dogs make them a favorite, but finding a better corn dog would be hard to do. The BLTs are also a slice of heaven, with more than a couple slices of bacon! And those hushpuppies… wow. Order up a dozen of those perfectly fried and almost grease free slices of heaven. Of course they wouldn’t be from Carolina if they didn’t offer Cheerwine from the fountain. This regional cherry soda is clean, refreshing, and perfect alone or in a float. What burger joint meal would be complete without a shake? Well, the gang at Cook-Out has you covered with over 30 different variants on the cold, creamy concoction, some of which feature Southern fruit and cobbler varieties you won’t find anywhere else. It’s clean, quick, cheap, and good. Service is super friendly and the tastes and ambiance will take you back to some of the original burger joints.

So a friend of mine told me about this place and said it was great… Phenomenal… Amazing… Orgasmic! He is a bit of an over-exaggerater so I thought i should try it for myself. I walk in and the inside decoration is fake cabin, I figured I can get into this. The smell of the grill is very prevalent in the dinning area but not overpowering. Ordered from the cookout tray menu and got a double cheese bacon burger with a quesadilla, corndog, large drink and a Reese cup milkshake. I was able to build my own burger a la five guys, and I was very impressed with the options! So after ordering such a large meal I was expecting to be blown away by the price… Then the cashier hit me with it… $ 9.50. I stopped and questioned(internally of course) I hope he got it all, but I slid him my card and went on my Merry way. He gave me two receipts one with my amount and one itemized with my «number». When my order was ready they called my number and I showed the receipt for verification. The food was very very good! Pipping hot and fresh! Not at all a fake grilled taste like Burger King! Corndog slightly sweet but so savory! Great meal! Great price! I would/plan on coming back in the future!

After being dormant for many years, a Cook Out now occupies the building that once was a Back Yard Burgers location. Cook Out offers char-grilled burgers, char-grilled chicken and hot dogs. Fries, hushpuppies and onion rings are among the sundry side items available. This visit was my first at a Cook Out location. I ordered a ¼ lb.(regular) burger. Small 1⁄8 lb. and huge ½ lb. are also available. The burger selections such as «Cook Out Style» or «Steak Style» did not appeal to my palate. I ordered my burger with mayo, lettuce, tomato and onion. The burger was good, seasoned well. A taste level higher than that of larger burger chain restaurants. The fries were good also, with the right amount of salt. There are 40 flavors of milkshakes from which to choose, including two seasonal flavors. I chose the Oreo Mint flavor. Place your order with the cashier and wait for your order number to be called. For my second visit, I wanted to order a chicken strip sandwich, club style. The cashier entered the order as a Cook Out Tray; I never said I wanted the Cook Out Tray. Just the sandwich and one side. The Cook Out Tray is a sandwich choice, two sides and a drink with an additional charge for a shake. My «club» sandwich did not come with cheese or bacon. But I am not missing the calories anyway. Besides that negative service experience, the sandwich was good and so was the fried okra. The red cherry milkshake was good as well.
