Illuminations Spa

I bought a Groupon deal a few months ago because it’s very close by. Part of me also feared that other people were also making their reservations that I might not be able to book an appointment before the deal’s expiration date. That’s the problem with these deals.
I found that the best way to make a reservation was on the website. I’ve called the phone number twice before and nobody picked up. So I was a little hesitant about what my experience would be like.
Honestly, I give this place 3 stars, but I really wanted to give it 4 if it weren’t for the late start of my massage. The day of my appointment, they called and asked if I could come by 30 minutes after my scheduled time. I said I could and upon arriving, I came to an empty waiting area. Maybe it’s a test of patience but I waited there for about 10 minutes before the masseuse showed up to tell me that she’s wrapping up a session with another client. This took another 10 – 15 min before I was settled on the massage table.
The good thing about this place is that even though the Bliss massage deal came with a body scrub, the masseuse was willing to customize it for me because my skin’s been sensitive lately. Instead of the scrub, she said she could do hot stone, which got me even more excited because I’ve never had a hot stone massage before. The entire massage felt great and she applied the heavy amount of pressure I requested. Only downside was that I could feel she was right-​handed because some parts of my back wanted more pressure.
I like how clean the salon is — it actually feels cleaner than the massage franchises out there like MassageEnvy or Spa Sydell. I might come back if I really wanted another relaxing experience, but given how expensive the Bliss massage was without a Groupon, I might hold off.

The spa worked hard to provide a pleasant experience. I requested firm/​deep tissue While I enjoyed most parts of the massage, there were a few instances where she applied too much pressure to an area close to the bone, so it was uncomfortable and painful. I should speak up next time, but I also hope she will check in with her clients over the course of 75 minutes so she can adjust her approach to each person’s comfort level. I did enjoy the scrub on my back and the use of hot towels.

I came to the spa via a Groupon special and must say that they exceeded my expectations!
First off, the location was very clean and serene. Apparently they just went through a renovation as it was very modern. I thought the room was the perfect size. Very intimate but not small at all. They also had a heated massage table which was nice. Also, I think they took the previous users advice because the instrumental track was very relaxing which also included beach sounds. At some points I really felt like I was beachside :)
I had a hot stone massage by Rin. I can only say wonderful things about it. She was so agile when switching between the different stones. She provided a medium to firm massage which was the perfect amount of pressure. She was also very attentive to working on my tight muscles. She really took her time and I felt like she was really invested in ensuring that I was satisfied.
In summary, she now has a new client and I plan on using her services monthly! I look forward to the other services that I will be receiving and I highly recommend Illuminations Spa.

They are located inside Decleor Paris. I came in here for a massage that I purchased from Groupon. Very friendly staff and it looks like they share it with a hair and nail salon.
It was clean, and i’m sure i’ll be back again, but the décor was a little off. I guess I assumed some kind of European infuence but inside there were some Asian characters and other random designs.
My massage was VERY firm. I requested deep/​firm and she actually delivered, unlike other massage therapists that I’ve been too. The room was a little smaller than I’m used to, and I would have preferred soothing instrumental music instead of the weird bird chirping, windblowing, soundtrack they had going on. Maybe if they had beach sounds…
Overall — the experience was great and I’m sure i’ll be returning.
