Well, after I responded to the letter below, He was nice enough to write back…
He started the following way:
«Dear Mr. xxx,
To attempt to defend our position would likely be futile, as you seemingly know little about how our business/​industry functions or operates.»
He went on (a little too long to put here) to tell me more damaging things about my current housekeeper, and even gave me an excerpt from an e-​mail from a customer who my housekeeper is no longer working for — gave me 3 links to industry averages for wages to let me know he was paying her fairly, then told me he was going to take legal action against her.
He ended it with, «Let me add, I graduated with an MBA from Stanford University and have a bachelor’s degree from The University of Chicago. blah blah blah blah… I turned down a job offer with Goldman Sachs to earn $ 15 hourly. I have sacrificed and understand more than you will ever realize»…
When I didn’t back down, and wrote him back (I felt the need to tell the Stanford and U of C grad how to write a business letter) he finally agreed and apologized, then of course, less than 8 business hours later, asked me to take down the Unilocal review…
Luckily, we happened to run into our housekeeper, who told us a far different story — and one I’m more likely to believe:
She never actually met the man in charge «Teddy» in almost 2 years
Payment was extremely slow on «one off» jobs where the company was paid first and not her
They were unwilling to modify her schedule to accommodate her special needs child in the summer months — forcing her to leave the company
As a SERVICE — they’re a 3 star company, they really did nothing but plop someone in our house, we got lucky they were good at their job and a nice person to boot, they sent us one survey, then took a 25% cut from the housekeeper for the work she did for the next 8 months.
