Piece of Cake Inc

First and last visit here. Picked up a cake for a birthday and wow– awful! Cake looked moist– in an undercooked and too much oil kind of way. Surprisingly, the cake was dry and could not even be eaten with a fork because it crumbled from the dryness. Cakes come with very little to no icing which is unfortunate because the cake is really not good– the icing is decent and covers up the taste of the yuck-​o bread part. Save money and pick one up from Publix. So much better!

From the available selection of cake slices, I selected two of my favourites; Red velvet and Hummingbird.
Most of the cake slices are prepared with cream cheese icing and others buttercream.
I complemented the Red Velvet cake slice with vanilla bean ice cream and sampled the Hummingbird slice, saving it for another day.
The taste and quality of the cake slices was excellent. They were moist and rich.
Visit on a Tuesday to take advantage of the buy one, get one ½ off slices.
Cookies, cupcakes and other baked goods are also available.
My first visit to this location was a five star experience.

I was so torn writing this review. I’ve been to this location twice my second time will sadly be my last. Or at least until they find a more sanitary way to store their cakes or decide to make fresh cakes every other day. I got a strawberry cake slice which was amazinv and when I was more than halfway done I took a closer look only to see MOLD growing on the bottom of my cake! I ended up throwing up the cake it was so disgusting. This will definitely be the last time I visit this place.

I’ve tried both the cake slices and the cupcakes. I personally prefer the cupcakes. The cake slices I tried were good and not dry like I was worried they may be, but the cupcakes I LOVED. The key lime one is what inspired me to come here to write a review. It was absolutely to die for. It was probably the best cupcake I’ve ever tried. I had previously tried the cake slice version and was really disappointed that there wasn’t a key lime kick. But the cupcake really delivered. The cupcakes are really large too. The frosting here isn’t overly sweet, which is fantastic in my opinion. All the flavors are pretty straightforward (chocolate, strawberry, caramel, key lime, white chocolate, red velvet etc.). They don’t have any real creative mixtures like I’ve seen elsewhere. But they do deliver on the flavors that they have, which I can’t always say the same for some other places that do offer more creative options. Also, I’ve been greeted by nice employees who were always very helpful during each visit. I even walked in one night after being stuck in traffic about 2 minutes before closing and the woman didn’t act annoyed at all. :-) I will definitely return for more cupcakes! FOLLOW UP: I returned a month later and tried the key lime cupcakes and they weren’t nearly as good… less flavorful and much drier. So consistency is an issue.

Very moist cake most of the time. I have had one piece of dry cake and the manager on duty told me to BRING IT BACK the next time.
Hummingbird cake is unbelievably delicious!

First experience there was good. Bought a Red Velvet cupcake, it was very good. Second experience, not so good. Took advantage of a coupon during Alpharetta Restaurant Week; bought a pint of ice cream which was okay, brownie was free with that purchase. Wow, brownie was so disappointing. Very dry, very small. My own, from scratch brownies are far better. Sometimes all I want is A brownie, not a whole pan. Suffice it to say, I won’t be getting the brownie again.

The chocolate chip bundt cake was tasty in flavor even if dry. The customer service left something to be desired, I wasn’t really greeted, only asked if I had been there before. When I replied «no,» I was met with silence. I’ll try a different location since their cakes are good.

Who cares about traffic on 400 when you can travel north holding a fork and a slice of white chocolate cake? Thank you piece of cake for bringing easily accessible goodness to the side of Alpharetta.
