We made the mistake of coming with two kids who were really well behaved, and just sat and colored. The ambiance here was a lot more formal than I expected(I thought it was just a notch below Ray’s on the River) and we were mean-mugged the entire time for the kids(or for our appearance– this was, after all, Alpharetta on a Sunday night). The restaurant overall was really quiet, so any group making noise was frowned upon. We had 8 people… so yeah… We got the hot app platter($ 70), and it was loaded with calamari more than anything else. 3 crab cakes and 4 oysters wasn’t enough! The food was great, but unfortunately for me, most things were cooked in alcohol. I couldn’t have the lobster, and I ended up going for these amazing crab cakes, hold the sauce :(The sides were great– giant asparagus, I could taste the different cheeses in the mac and cheese, and the 1lb potato was enormous. We all shared the oreo cheesecake and crème brûlée for dessert, and we got a complimentary chocolate cake for dessert. Overall, the food was a 4, but the ambiance made this more of a 3.

Their happy hour is a steal and they also offer that on weekends which is GREAT! $ 1 oysters is such a treat as my fiancé and I really love oysters. We shared several bar bites with wine and the KC punch. The sliders I could have done without. The brioche buns were very hard and seemed like maybe they had been sitting out a while. The rockefeller oysters were okay but they loaded the cheese a bit too much because it took a while to get through it all and down to the actual oyster. Pimento cheese fritters were very good! However, the very best thing was the New Orleans BBQ shrimp! My my the grit cake was the best I had ever tried and the shrimp was so plump and juicy. The flavors mingled together so harmoniously and we were sighing with each bite. The atmosphere is very romantic and cozy. Kind of reminded me of a mountain lodge. We both agreed that if we were to have a tiny wedding we would do it in a place like that. They have a few private rooms for events and they are so very beautiful! All in all a great place!

I’ve eaten at Ray’s Killer Creek before and up till this point had not written a review. I feel it’s time. Ray’s Killer Creek has a great atmosphere, contemporary yet warm and inviting, a large dining area tied with windows to the outside and layed out well. I give the décor a 4.5. The food though, has always been pricey with just not enough to give it that price point. Today we at the Sunday Brunch Buffet, for $ 27.99. Had it been priced at $ 21.99, I would feel that maybe I could give it a 4th star. But when you tack on that extra money I expect that everything has a finishing touch that gives it that 4 – 5 star taste, where as, most of the items were decent but lacking something. Eggs benedict, egg poach perfect, but hollandaise tasted out of a can and the whole thing needed salt. Chicken prepared with a nice coating, yet cold and had been sitting. Prime Rib was down to the very, very end, so extra fat was provided. Brisket was fall apart tender, yet crock potish, not smoked or grilled. Desserts were good and a good selection, but nothing stood out, and the bread putting was dry. The stand out items were the Mac N Cheese, and the cheese grits. My dinner felt the same when I had eaten here, I felt that it was good, but not good enough to justify the price point. There are just way too many dining areas now in this area that the price point(or low price point) totally justifies the meal, this place is average, but for the price points, a complete pass.

This place is known to be a little pricy, but they have a new $ 12 lunch menu that is a wonderful bargain. I had their shrimp & grits which is their blue plate special I think on Wednesday. It was unbelievably good. It was the best shrimp & grits that I have ever had in my lifetime and I am 77 years old. It is the second best meal that I have ever had and at $ 12 it was s steal. Now, I am going to have to bring my wife for dinner. This restaurant has improved their service and the quality of their food by a huge amount in the last year. If you have ever eaten there in the past and decided not to come back, do come back this is not the same place.

I recently went to Rays for the first time. I was happily surprised by the modern décor and pristine dining area. I was greeted and sat immediately. My server Saam came over with a polite greet, talked to me shortly before finding out it was my first time at Rays. Saam was very informative, attentive and made dinner a wonderful experience. The seafood was fresh and delicious and the cheesecake is amazing! Overall, would return and recommend to others.

It’s 95 degrees out and we had an early dinner reservation, 5:30 pm, so we could get to a movie. I wore a sundress and my date wore cargo shorts and a polo shirt. The girls at the hostess stand informed us his shorts could not be seen in the dining room(regular shorts yes, cargo shorts no) and we would have to sit on the 95 degree patio or in the bar. Are you kidding me? As we drove away we saw a family piling out of their car, all in shorts. Hey, it’s hot out. We went to an elegant Thai restaurant up the road(Nahm Thai) and enjoyed a fabulous meal where the chef took the time to visit every table and whose only concern was our comfort and enjoyment of the meal, not what we were wearing.

BEST filet EVER… SERIOUSLY! Great atmosphere, service and food. Delicious cocktails, Fabulous wedge salad, melt in your mouth filet, superb asparagus and spinach. No desserts for us, but I can only imagine that they would be just as yummy!

I can not wait to get back to Georgia to go back! The buffet had so many different options, didn’t want to overdo it soo early in the day but was absolutely satisfied with everything that I tried! Almost can’t find anymore great descriptions to share other than you must go and you must take the family with you! A bit pricy but worth it for an on the occasion visit!

We had an amazing dinner. Came here for our wedding anniversary. It was delicious. I had fried lobster, and hubby had prone rib. Direct quote from my husband in reference to the prime rib«I don’t want this to end». The ambience want as fancy as we expected but it was still nice and clean. The presentation of our food was excellent. The staff was on point very welcoming and informative, super nice staff. We will be back.

Amazing restaurant with very high quality dishes! My cousin and I stopped in here after quite the drive(turning down many places) to enjoy a meal on a weekend night in GA. The bottle service was great considering the time we’d reserved our table so we began with an aappetizer which we shared. The crispy grits which were a surprise option on the menu, but DEFINITELY a staple while being in the south. We had the«NEWORLEANSSHRIMP». Very shareable! Great appetizers get my business EVERYTIME! Following our appetizers we’d ordered a few sides and my main course was the«SEAREDHAWAIIANAHITUNA» which was also well prepared. To top it off this location is very close to the Main Event, Alpharetta where we bowled away the alcohol before taking to the road again. Thanks!

The meal was acceptable, steak was an average steak that I would have at many other restaurants, at a much lower cost versus Ray’s. We ordered both the hot and cold appetizer trays and both were huge, but the overall meal, though«good» was over-priced. The server was attentive, but very stiff, which I suppose is what most people are used to having at this restaurant. There was an excellent bourbon selection at the bar, which was a pleasant surprise for me being in ATL and from KY. Overall, the food and drink was«good» but I’ve enjoyed better at the price, and paid less for this quality.

I will admit, I was biased going into my experience. I had gone to this restaurant when it was Killer Creek more times than I can count. My family loved it and we had dozen of special occasion dinners there. This is not Killer Creek. This is a disappointment. The price range hasn’t changed(high-mid range steakhouse), but plenty of other aspects have deteriorated. I was at least pleased to see they hadn’t completely upended the classic Northwestern décor. Unfortunately, they did upend the menu. Don’t misunderstand: it’s still a steakhouse with a myriad of alternatives, but there are some serious issues. First of all, I feel there’s been some deterioration in the service. This definitely played into my bad experience with the two people I was with. First of all, two of us ordered lyonnaise potatoes with our steak. To call that item lyonnaise potatoes is to call a Vespa a motorcycle — they’re related, but far from the same thing. The potatoes were quite dry with very little lyonnaise flavor and some onions tossed about casually. The bigger problem involved the cooking temperature of the steaks. My girlfriend ordered prime rib. It was — in her words — just okay. My mother and I both ordered the fillet mignon medallions. I prefer to eat steak medium. Each of my medallions was a different temperature like a little example platter of how different temps of meat come out. I had a medium rare medallion, a medium medallion, and a well done. Worse, my mother’s were all black and blue; they weren’t rare. They were raw. Here’s where the service lacked. The waiter never asked any of us to cut into out steaks to see if they were to our liking and never even bothered asking how our food was during the meal! At the end, our waiter just asked her if she wanted a box and she told him she really didn’t care for it. He just told her that he was sorry and that she should have said something earlier because there was nothing he could do about it now. It was a lame meal with lame service, but the check was still robust. Nothing was discounted and no effort was made to improve the situation. It pains me to say it, but au revoir Killer Creek. I guess you’re gone for good. Rays is an Atlanta institution and I’m extremely disappointed that they took a nationally recognized restaurant and turned it into… that.

My wife and I have been fans of Ray’s on the Creek for a while. Had you asked me my opinion even a few hours ago it would have been quite different from the review I am typing up now. First, as mentioned, we have been to Ray’s many times previously. This was our first time option to go to Ray’s for Valentine’s Day. We shan’t be repeating this error. Being a diligent guy I plan Valentine’s Day well in advance. So, several weeks ago I phoned and inquired about reserving a table. I specifically asked if, in addition to the prix fixe menu for V-Day whether there would be oysters available. I inquired because we rather enjoy cold water oysters and Ray’s typically has an excellent selection. After being told these were available I pulled the trigger and made the reservation. In other words, the oysters were the primary reason for selecting Ray’s, as opposed to another establishment. We arrived shortly before the reserved time, and were attended to promptly. I noted that the table arrangement was different than we had typically observed at Ray’s, and, to my displeasure we were seated at a two-topper that was slightly larger than a side table. This is problematic for me, as it meant I had no place to stash my cane while dining. Trying to eat with a cane stuck between your legs to keep it from falling to the floor is fine at a ball game while eating a hot dog, but not for a multi-course dinner. I inquired as to a different seating arrangement and was told that we would have to wait an unspecified and indefinite amount of time for that to be accommodated. After the hostess left we reviewed the menu. It was different than the menu posted at the website. Not a little different, a lot different. No worries, I thought to myself, the oysters are still amazing. That’s what we’re here for anyway. Our server appeared with water, and I inquired about the oyster selection available. She replied that there would be no oysters available and that everything available was on the prix fixe menu. At this point, my wife looked at me and stated, ‘We don’t have to eat here, I wanted the oysters.’ I needed no further deliberation and we left. I would like to express my deep thanks to Ray’s for cratering our Valentine’s Day dinner. First, for the incorrect information about the oysters, second for the changed menu, and third for the postage stamp-sized table we were seated at. I am thrilled that my wife was disappointed and that we were left with no recourse, as my frantic calls to other restaurants met with the expected ‘no we don’t have any reservations available.‘ We have given Ray’s our custom for years. We have typically eaten between two to seven dozen oysters during our visits, in addition to wine, mixed drinks, and the rest of the meal. I can’t give an exact number on our annual ‘oyster budget’ spent at Ray’s, but I can estimate it at being between $ 80 — $ 250 per visit, with at least six to eight visits per year. Now I will be looking for another place to blow our ‘oyster budget’ as I refuse to spend even one penny more at Ray’s. Note: I do not wish to leave a bad impression about the service staff at Ray’s, the waiters & waitresses have been nothing less than exemplary in each of our previous visits. I am certain this level of service will continue, and I must admit I feel somewhat rude for having left our table so abruptly. It was certainly not attributable to any wrongdoing on the part of the waitress.

Love this place! Came here last weekend after going out to Papadeaux’s and they were crazily incredibly stupidly busy. We should’ve just stopped here first. Their brunch buffet is every bit as good as Papadeaux’s and I think it was around the same price. Lots of muffins, fruit, bacon, sausage, and an omelette station. Every kind of breakfast food you can think of with the exception of pancakes, I did not see pancakes anywhere but there were very thick Belgian waffles. If you’ve ever been to Papadeaux’s you know their service is pretty awful, particularly if you are of a certain ethnic group. I’ve sat there many times with no drink or silverware. Anyway, Rays is a terrific place for brunch, I highly recommend!

The Rays chains have the reputation of being in the top restaurants in Atlanta but this was my 2nd location and I’m not impressed and more importantly I’m disappointed. Atmosphere– 5 stars. Beautiful rustic cabin feel with gorgeous wooden chandeliers. Modern yet cozy! The perfect color combinations with the light blue and tans throughout. Staff– 5 stars. From the hostess, our two waiters, the bust man, and the maitre –everyone was incredible nice and helpful. We were celebrating my mothers birthday and they all signed a birthday card for her and hand delivered it to the table.(No birthday dessert included, just a heads up!) Food– 2⁄3 stars. Okay, so maybe Rays specializes in seafood. I mean, they do have a case of seafood over ice on display. But, we’re steak people. The steak literally had no flavor. It’s like they just took the raw meat, cooked it in a pan over a grill, and that’s it. The side mashed potatoes I had were delicious. My mother said her spinach tasted like it was previously frozen, not fresh. We did however order the chocolate mouse cake which was seriously good. Came served with a side of berries that together tasted like chocolate covered strawberries. All-in-all after going to this location and along with Rays On The River a couple of times, I think I give up! For 30+ dollars a plate I expect much better flavor.

I am glad that this place is as close to my house as it is. This way I can get to napping a lot quicker after Sunday brunch without falling asleep at the wheel! We fancy all of the Ray’s, City, River, and this, the Creek. When this place was simply, Killer Creek, we used to visit for the steaks and fried lobster tails! We would have our company Christmas parties here in private room. Then something happened and the service dropped off. The food became sub-par and it just wasn’t worthy of a nickel. Then came the transformation. They closed, remodeled, changed the name to include Ray’s and reopened. Now everything is on point as it is with the other Ray’s joints. On this particular trip, we just wanted a nice dinner with no clean up(I am a messy cook). I chose the 10oz filet, only because I wanted a lobster tail and figured that the 16oz ribeye would be a wee bit too much. I should have gotten the ribeye and just eaten what I could stand. I wasn’t that the filet was bad so much as filets just do not have the enough beefy flavor for me. I got this filet au poivre which helped, but still not as beefy as a ribeye. The lobster tail was perfectly executed and delicious. She-who-must-be-obeyed chose the seared ahi with the wasabi mash! What’s not to like about wasabi mashed potatoes? I will be replicating that at the house very soon. The tuna was executed to our specs perfectly. We usually get the fried calamari as a starter, as in all the time, so this time we chose something else. The pimento goat cheese fritters. Yeah, um. Fried cheese. Heavenly! From time to time, I meet here with colleagues during happy hour for oysters and scotch. Yes, the raw bar is on point too! The verdict is that I am a card carrying frequently diner at all Ray’s and they all are high on my list of favorite restaurants.

Reserved a table for a party of six… very helpful staff. Friendly as well, and very attentive to our table. Drinks were delicious. I had half raw oysters and they are great for the area. Very fresh and nice presentation. I also had the scallops with the sweet potatoes for a side. Omg… i never tasted something so good. The best I ever had. This is a fancy place to go to if you do not feel like driving to Buckhead or Midtown Atlanta. Very elegant.

I’d been to Ray’s only once before, several years ago, but others on my team were eager to recommend it for our holiday lunch. On the Friday before Christmas at 1pm, the parking lot was very full. Apparently plenty of others had the same great idea. I like the bright, open, tiered seating of the main dining area. I was thrilled that they had Gosling’s ginger beer for their Dark and Stormy’s, since that meant that I could enjoy a ginger beer instead of a ginger ale, even if it meant clarifying with multiple servers. My colleagues enjoyed Grand Marnier, Bloody Mary’s, wine, and a fancy martini or two. We started with the New Orleans style shrimp and the blue cheese chips. The shrimp were nothing special — not much spice and a tad overcooked. The chips were crisp, not too greasy, and hit the spot. For my main, I ordered the wood-roasted scallops with meuniere sauce, served with the seasonal vegetable(brussels sprouts). The scallops were a little chewy, so I don’t recommend that choking method. The meuniere was meh, not what I expected. The Brussels sprouts were the best part. I also tried the St Louis style ribs(cooked on a big green egg) with fries. The meat was tender enough, but didnt have much flavor. For dessert, I got a taste of the praline basket and the carrot cake. The carrot cake was quite tasty. The praline basket was way too sweet for my taste. We had multiple servers waiting on us, so we never went to long without being attended to, even with some of my co-workers slugging down their drinks. Coolest part off the whole experience was the bill holder that lights up when you open it. I’d go back if someone else chose it, but it wasn’t so memorable to have me asking it for it again soon.
