What’s the worst part of the holidays? Toy stores. I worked at KB Toys(RIP) back when I was in high school during the holidays. I truly believe you see the worst in people when they’re shopping for their kids for Christmas. People trampling and breaking arms(yes, it happened right in front of me) to get the last ugly furby( ). Downtrodden parents who spend $ 300 on a new toy for their kid only to discover that their kids are more interested in the box the toy came in than the toy itself. Spoiled kids who throw themselves on the floor in a fit of anger because their parents won’t buy them a Playstation game. I’ve seen it all. I avoided toy stores during the holidays because of some residual PTSD from my experience. I try to buy gifts for my kids and other people’s kids online. Except I couldn’t this year. A specific gift my niece wants is only available in stores. I checked everywhere online. It’s out-of-stock at every online store. I would have to go to a toy store before Christmas.(shudder) Yes, there were the typical holiday shoppers who were rude. Luckily, they were more the rarity than the norm. What stuck out the most to me is that the employees here were all very friendly helpful. Everyone from the associates who were in the aisles helping customers find an item down to the cashier. The store had everything in stock so I was able to quickly get all my shopping done for my kids and family. I still prefer online shopping, but this toy store isn’t so bad.

Remember when Toys R Us was a magical place? Have a kid and then all you see are dollar signs when you walk in. We were shopping for a specific item so needed help locating it from the word go. Employees were falling over each other to help us. Every red shirted person we saw was asking if we needed help finding anything. Well, except when a lifted my screaming 19 month old under one arm. No one made eye contact then. Can’t blame them there. The store was in good order and we found everything we were looking for. There aren’t many(just TRU?) big toy stores around so if you need one, thankfully, TRU is a fine place to shop.
