Sonic Drive In

do not go to this restaurant on lunch time unless you want to spend the whole time sitting in a line!!!

The employees at this Sonic are always super friendly and seem to be having fun. The only thing I ever order here is the coconut cream pie shake, and it’s perfect. So good. Plus, all slushies & shakes are ½ price after 8:00 pm! My only complaint (which is probably a good thing because I certainly don’t need to be going here every day, LOL) is that the only GR location is waaaay out on Alpine… I wish there was a location closer to downtown.

I discovered Sonic when we moved to Phoenix in 1999. I became a big fan of the SuperSonic Cheeseburger (SSCB). Back then, you could get it with mayo or mustard. I prefer mayo. And as a SSCB, it comes with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle.
Fast forward to the 2010’s and we live in Michigan, and they now offer the SSCB with mayo, mustard OR ketchup. Great — more choice!
Except I can no longer get my SSCB with mayo. Ordering a #2 with mayo means I will either get a SSCB with mayo only and no lettuce, tomato, etc., or it comes with mayo, mustard and ketchup and all the veggies. I don’t get why they can’t get this staple of the menu correct.
The drinks are still great, the tots are still great — but why don’t they understand the word OR???

I was SO VERY disappointed with our visit on 4÷19÷2015 @ around 2:00.
I will start off by saying the location is easy to find, it’s located on Alpine Ave. on the corner (sorry can’t remember the street). You can see it from the road.
Now back to the review…
We ordered & paid for our food at one of the stalls.
We waited & waited & waited & waited for our order to come out, finally after almost 25 MINUTES our order was here delivered by a female car hop (if we would not have paid, we would have left!!).
After she skated away, we started going through our order. The kids meals contained everything they were supposed to but the food was cold. Then we went through our food, we ordered a #11 & corn dog, we were missing a piece of chicken, our Texas toast was soggy (as if it had been sitting) and had absolutely no flavor, and all our food was cold.
You could tell this order was sitting for awhile after it was cooked!!! It was disgusting.
The car hop never checked back on us (they normally do), we had no napkins. Horrible service on this day!!!

Unfortunately, their TV ads are better than their food.
Had the foot long chili dog. Pretty tasteless. Neither the dog nor the chili were memorable. My wife had the corn dog. Very small and on the over done side. Fries were very average. The onion rings resembled mass produced frozen ones you heat up at home.
On top of that, the very nice roller bladed car hop delivered the food with only two small and thin napkins. Not nearly enough to tackle the foot long let alone anything else.
From now on I will just stay home and enjoy their commercials.

The philly cheesesteak is really good. The marinade they used on the meat was quite good. I got it I a combo with an extra side of the regular tots. Quite a satisfying meal for less than $ 10.

Picked up a Breakfast Burrito. It was excellent. Fresh tomatoes and onions really made the difference.

MMmmMMM Tater tots. They have great daily deals for $ 1.99. Got a sonic burger and small tot for $ 2 — sold! I expected the burger to be on the small side but it was definitely larger than a hamburger at McD’s!
The service was friendly. The parking lot was a bit dangerous, I almost did a 360 on rounding the corner at 10 mph. Made me nervous for the servers who had to walk on it to serve the cars!
Although I just did the drive thru I do Love the idea of a drive in place — makes me think of going to A&W when I was a kid!
The Thursday $ 2 special is a BLT & tot… might have to try to remember to go for that sometime soon. I do enjoy a god BLT!
