Went here for My Birthday. The Ribeye my BF got was really good. I tried their special of the day which is Gnocchi. I wasn’t a fan of their gnocchi, reminds me of Fried tofu. I thought of Gnocchi more of a pillowy type texture. I liked that they gave me a complimentary Birthday cake. I didn’t care much about the Lobster Mac & Cheese, there’s a taste there that it’s a bit off, must be the cheese, it has the smell/taste of gas. Service was good. If you have a players card, just let the person know at the reception so they can add in the discount. The higher your card the greater the discount.

Best Steakhouse in San Diego hands down! I have been there at least a dozen times, and I have never had a bad meal. I usually get the ribeye or the lamb. You may get a little sticker shock when you see the prices on the menu, but if you sign up for a Viejas rewards card, you get a discount on your meal(I want to say 20 or 30 percent off?). So with the discount added, it is a really fair price for really good food.

I have always heard about this restaurant and thought«If it’s at a Casino, it can’t be that nice??» Well I was wrong! Not only is the décor beautiful, but the food was amazing and the service was impeccable! There are few restaurants with this caliber of presentation and cuisine. There were THREE amuse bouche! The side items are ala carte, similar to Ruth Chris or Flemings. We had mashed potatoes, asparagus and caprese salad. My steak was perfection!!! They brought my friend a dessert for her birthday and it was a decadent piece of chocolate cake with mouse filling… GREATDINNER!!!

We ate at The Grove last night for my birthday and it was absolutely delicious. The filets were cooked to perfection and were so tender and flavorful. The horseradish mashed potatoes and lobster mac and cheese were prepared perfectly. The service was impeccable and very attentive. We will definitely be back!

After a Black Friday day of shopping, 3 of us ended the evening at the Grove Steakhouse. We have dined there previously and the service and food always exceed expectations. What’s special about tonight? The Seabass ponzu – best Seabass – better than Nobu!!! Large portion with the right amount of ponzu. To top off sumptuous meals, flambé banana dessert. Can’t wait to return before Christmas! Exquisite!!!

Excellent steak. I had the porterhouse medium, whipped garlic potatoes, lobster 3 layer truffle cake. The best tasting food for fine dining. My second time and it was perfect, 2 hours from start to finish. And casino was packed from the grand opening of the new tower.

Let me start by saying I am a huge fan of viejas. It is the most beautiful property and its always my first choice when celebrating any occasion. I frequent the café and buffet often, but this week we decided we would go for the steakhouse for my boyfriends birthday. It was my 4th time coming here and we did enjoy our meal. Unfortunately for us, we were sat directly in front of a table who was extremely loud. The restaurant was only ¼ full with many tables open. Yet we were all sat right next to eachother. The patron next to us complained and complained about everything. She even asked for a manager and he came over and said he would pay for their meal. So then I had to sit there and listen to her bitch while she enjoyed her free food while I was actually paying full price(aNd as we all know, its not cheap). It was so irritating. She even complained about not knowing the amount of calories that were in the dollop of sorbet(pallet cleanser). I mean I could hear every word out of her mouth(her phone also rang 4 times while at dinner). It was an unfortunate experience. Although the steak was delicious, the salads, sides, and drinks are just as fantastic as the options at their other restaurants. You are only getting the upgrade in the quality of your meat. The booths at the café are extremely private, and the buffet is a very open space. Youre definitely not bumping elbows. Ive never been disturbed by a fellow diner at either place. I will definitely keep that in mind the next time we are having a special date night like a birthday. Although the steak will keep this place open, it just does not give you a 4 diamond, high class feel like the rest of this beautiful resort does.

You will not be disappointed dining at The Grove Steakhouse. In fact, each time I have dined at The Grove, I have been blown away at the upscale treatment, attentiveness, and beautifully crafted and prepared food that comes out of their kitchen — truly one of my ‘go-to’ places when celebrating a special occasion. I have been to many fancy shmancy steakhouses, but The Grove can give those big boys a run for their money. You can tell that The Grove invests in making sure their patrons are treated like VIPs. If I could give them an extra star, I would!

Saddle your horse, shine your boots and head east to Viejas Casino to dine at the 5 star 4 Diamond Grove Steakhouse. The Grove Steakhouse is very elegant with a modern feel. Seated we were introduced to a team of servers led by Angelika, a well versed well trained pro that met each and everyone of our needs. Wine opened($ 25 corkage) we were offered sparkling or still water. We settled on Calamari for our starter. The calamari was flavorful and was accompanied with a chipotle mayonnaise dip. Amuse Bouche was delivered next which was swordfish bite in watermelon juice. For salad I chose the wedge. This was perhaps the least favorite for the night. The wedge was underdressed and lacked flavor. After an intermezzo of frozen melon with berry compote my main course arrived. I chose the 18 oz bone in tomahawk ribeye with Pommes Frites. The steak was cooked to perfection with a flavorful char and Pom Frites were nothing less of excellent. Service is outstanding and price is on point to that found at Fleming’s but The Grove provides larger portions and better service. The steakhouse is well deserving of its 5 stars. We hope to be back soon.

Been going here for almost 10 years. The food has been amazing. the customer service has always been outstanding. The only problem here recently was that they changed the menu, and raised their prices. It’s a little hard to have downtown prices when you’re nowhere near downtown. But if your looking for a good steak it just might be worth the drive.

Definitely beat the other casino steakhouses. The staff were courteous, detail oriented. We tried the jumbo shrimps for appetizer, it was the biggest shrimp cocktails we’ve eaten. For main course, filet mignon and bone in rib eye. The steaks were delicious, juicy and cooked the way we wanted. Bring your player’s card and receive 20% off, for sure we’ll be coming back!

Reservations were made and we were greeted by name. It was my girlfriends birthday celebration and they went out of their way to wish her happy birthday and make us feel welcome. Our server was very attentive. We were seated and chose a bottle of Clos du Val pint nor as we didn’t know if we were going to have seafood or beef. 5 star dining started with a chefs amuse bouche of salmon cucumber which was refreshing. then the bread tray with butters. Next was calamari which was ok. I prefer to have a sauce with mine. I ordered the seafood cioppino and it was quite flavorful with tons of seafood. My friend had the ribeye which was massive and cooked perfectly. My girlfriend had the miso sea bass and it was divine. Side dishes included the lobster mac which was yummy. Asparagus cones with about 4 pieces but tender and tasty. The rice was a strong bold flavor and we were warned about it. The mashed potatoes were perfect. For dessert, definitely order the bananas fosters flambé prepared tableside with a fire show and all. We also had the chocolate cake which was very good but lots of fudge type layers and not lots of cake. We finished with passion fruit truffles that were a miss but nice concept. Just too perfume ish for our liking. Oh…somewhere in the middle came a cherry sorbet to cleanse our palate. Service is 5 stars and Unilocalers should try this reataurant. Make your way here for fine dining even if it’s inside the viejas casino.

Prior to having dinner here I never imagined that I would leave saying«My absolute favorite restaurant is located in the Viejas casino.» Surprise! I left saying just that and have already planned to celebrate my anniversaries, birthdays, and all other celebratory-worthy life events at the grove steakhouse. The service was AMAZING. We were greeted and introduced by every staff member that made contact with us from beginning to end in a brief, sincere and professional manner. Service was so prompt it felt as if we were the only ones in the restaurant(which was certainly not the case). Absolutely everything we ate was amazing. The infused butters that came with the bread were incredible! The lobster mac and cheese was everything. I have actually dreamt about it since. Our filets were tender, flavorful and perfectly sized. We were shocked when our bill came, it was much lower than we had guessed. Not a single disappointment here! I look forward to coming back again and again :)

I had my doubts that this steakhouse would be that good but was proven wrong. Beyond amazing service and absolutely delicious food. My entire family gave it 2 thumbs up and they are a hard crowd to please. The Seabass was the best fish I have ever ate in my life. Filet was defiantly tender and melted in my mouth. Prices were really reasonable for the quality. A lot cheaper than Mortons or Ruth chris, and they don’t charge tax? The lobster mac and cheese is the best I have ever had period!

Definitely comparable to Donovan’s and Ruth’s Chris. The atmosphere was not the typical dark and leather steakhouse — it was brighter than expected, but the décor was lovely and the service was incredibly attentive and prompt. The wine — tart and dry and spicy — berries and coco undertones… 2011 Atalon out of Napa. Lovely. Perfect accompaniment to the steaks The bread and butter — bread was a tad tough, but the herbed butter was a nice touch Amuse-gueule — Shrimp cevice with blueberry reduction — delightful with a slight spicy kick that rounded up the flavours nicely Intermezzo — Blood orange sorbet with raspberry coulis — incredible. Absolute incredible. So amazing I had to order it for dessert The appetizer: The carpaccio — good but unextraordinary and lacking lemon juice. I much prefer the one at Arrivedecci’s in Hillcrest. The caprese was magical. The meat was extraordinary: Bone-in rib eye — slightly too cooked, but it tasted incredible Marrow — buttery with complex flavour — delicious Porterhouse — perfectly cooked and very flavourful The sauces: Au poivre sauce — not a fan Bearnaise sauce — best I’ve had The sides: Wild mushrooms — scrumptious Truffle fries — foodgasmic(especially dipped in the bearnaise) Lobster mac & cheese — ok Bechamel spinach — not a fan Passion fruit truffles — perfect end to a scrumptious meal. So it’s a bit expensive and the service is a bit over the top(waiter gave us his business card), but over all, this was wonderful and the amuse-gueule and intermezzo were a lovely surprise. .

AHHHHHHHHH this place is AMAZING! It is one of the few restaurants that I would actually give another 5 stars too if it was an option! My husband I stayed at Viejas The 25th&26th of December. We were visiting with Family for Christmas and didn’t want to take the long trek back to North County, so we had a little mini vacation. We decided to try the Grove the second night we were there for a couple of reasons… The first being, it is really the only fine dining inside of the casino, and it came highly recommended by a couple others. So happy that we decided to try it out! The service was outstanding! It was not a very busy night, so we had a lot of service! The have an extensive wine list. And it will really fit any budget. whether you want a cheaper bottle to go through a few, or splurge on a more pricey one to enjoy with you meal. We started off with a good cab… we knew we would be eating steak so it was an obvious choice. We started with the Mushroom ravioli as an app. It was so delicious. They ave the homemade bread with butter they give and the sauce from the ravioli is a perfect accompaniment! Before our meals came out, we got a taster from the chef. a small piece of fish that he wanted us to try and it was to die for! Next we received the filet and the short rib special. I cannot even tell you! It is 2 weeks later, and I can still taste it all! Those of you who enjoy a good night out, know exactly what it is I am talking about! I will be coming back here for sure and will continue to recommend to others!

My first review of 2015… and away we go! Impeccable service and fantastic food… wow! And even on New Year’s Eve when you would naturally expect chaos amongst the wait staff and in the kitchen due to to the excessive restaurant crowd. The key is to make reservations… sounds simple right? The people behind us decided not to and had to wait an hour and half to be seated so be mindful of that. Saul was our server that evening and with it being our first visit there, made my party and I feel very welcome. We started off with a basket featuring an assortment of freshly baked bread and breadsticks… perfect on a chilly night. Then we tried a bowl of their French Onion soup which had very sweet onions, tasty broth and gruyère topped slice of bread. Co-habby and I decided to split the 32 oz. bone-in rib eye which was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Saul suggested that he could have the chef cook our steak right in between medium and medium-well…very nice! The steaks was tender and maybe a touch chewy but overall, delicious. The lobster mac-n-cheese was the highlight for me as I am a bit of a mac-n-cheese fanatic and even more so with delicious chunks of lobster embedded in this dish. Goodness, so good! The grilled asparagus and sweet creamed corn were additional sides we ordered and they fit the bill as well. In between the dishes, they served each of us a smoked salmon mousse on crostini and an apple cider sorbet to cleanse the palette before our entrees arrived. What an elegant touch to add to a beautifully plated and decadent meal. We will most certainly return. Don’t forget your Viejas playing card for an additional 20% off of your meal. Bonus! Five enthusiastic stars!

Fantastic experience! It was worth spending the extra bucks for quality food and no waiting in that long line for the buffet. We were really impressed… not at all expecting it to be good for Viejas. Let’s be honest, Viejas aint no Vegas here. We first asked to see the menu and it wasn’t bad! About $ 32 for a filet mignon, not too bad, something like that in SD would cost about $ 28. We took our chances and really glad we did. Our server was excellent. Great service! The food was amazing! We started off with the beef carpaccio and it was really good. Parmesan with some bitter greens over thinly slices of beef carpaccio and some sauce drizzled on it. I got the ribeye, my BF got the filet mignon, and it was perfectly cooked! We love the seasoning on it, it was a lot better than a lot of fancy expensive steak houses in SD. It was also so juicy, great mini salad with it, and the grilled tomato was so good. The peppercorn sauce was just okay, but you didn’t need it because the steak had so much flavor! We’ll be coming here again for the steaks and good service. Don’t forget to bring your Viejas card, you get some discount off the menu.
