My fiancé and I stopped here when our stomachs were growling after running errands. HUNGRY D’s grandma is from Greece, so we can be picky. Although his yai yai is obviously not in the kitchen cooking, I still provided a 5 star rating for the quality and PORTIONS you receive at such a great price! We took advantage of the Free Hummus App with check in; I’ve had better hummus, but the pita served warm made it wonderful. D ordered the gyro and upgraded his fries to the salad. The gyro was very good, and the salad was B-I-G for a side salad… something different on the Greek salad was a little potato salad on top, not something I have ever seen, but it was a pleasant surprise. I ordered the Mediterranean Chicken dinner with the Roasted Lemon Potatoes and Squash. The entrée is roasted chicken with spinach, mushrooms and melted feta; I dipped this delicious mixture with the yogurt sauce DAAAAAMMMNN was it good. I am sure it tastes equally good in a gyro(which is available). The Lemon Potatoes were made with red potatoes, not how yai yai makes ‘em, but enjoyed every big, lemony, buttery bite. The squash veggie side was just eh. Our waitress was Mackenzie(or so it says on the check); she was quick and so sweet to all of her tables! All in all, not regretting my stop here, and would come again.

I am a fan of Athena Café. Came here for the first time this year and we had a great experience. It’s not super fancy, in fact it’s a very hole-in-the-wall type of place. The food is good, and the service is surprisingly good too. I’ve only been once but I will return to check out more menu items. This place is worth checking out. Look at some of the other reviews for food recommendations.

Hands down best GREEKSALAD around Altamonte Springs/Longwood/sorta Casselberry area! Lg Greek salad is delicious! $ 7 with no rotisserie chicken on it, with it’s around $ 8 – 9 I believe. I’m vegetarian so I get the salad and it fills me up. *extra oil/red vinegar dressing FREE* When I’m sharing items I get the salad and roasted veggie gyro. *Potato salad is the BEST as well* My mom isn’t vegetarian and gets the chicken, mushroom, spinach gyro. Each gyro comes with tzatziki sauce on the side.

I ordered the veggie option, spinach pie, and hummus. All of which came out in a timely manner and also tasted good. Our server was humble; the few times I’ve visited it’s either been dead or pretty busy. If you’re in the area and want some Greek, give them a try! It’s nothing crazy but worth the prices.

Tonight I had fried fish with French fries and cole slaw. The slaw was tasty and the fries were good, however the fish was lacking. It was fried(fish type, unknown). The batter good not too heavy or greasy, but the fish itself was mushy/pasty and seemed somewhat discolored. Possibly it had been frozen, thawed, refrozen and then thawe again? I’ve had other meals there that were good.

Tasty little joint kinda tucked away just off of 17⁄92 in Maitland. Good prices and great service. Yesterday we stopped in and picked up lunch with friends. I got the traditional gyro, the wife got their chicken gyro. Both were good, but I believe we both agreed the traditional one was better. The chicken gyro was tasty, I found the meat to be a little less moist than the lamb though. I don’t want to sound like I’m speaking ill of the chicken though. That’s the flagship protein of their establishment. Buddy ordered a 2 piece meal for his son and let me try a taste, it was delish… Before diving into our lunch we started with their trio spread appetizer. First and foremost, good lord their fresh pita bread is amazing. So soft and warm, lightly dusted with some sorta seasoning. Not sure what it was – but it was working. The trio includes zesty feta spread(great), hummus(not bad, texture was a little too creamy for my liking) and tzatziki sauce(also great). We were a party of four, and each ordered a round of the trio spread app, as the employee said one order might not be enough for the lot of us. I would like to go on record as saying, that – is false. This app is actually pretty well stocked and(I believe) could hook 4 adults up no problem. Really enjoyed eating there, they have a nice patio on the side for dining al fresco too. Go get yer gyro on.

for checking in with Unilocal,we got a free hummous appetizer. WOW. Freshest hummous ever. I may be spoiled for the ‘usual’ grocery store fare forever! So smooth and yummy! The chicken breast with vegetables was so awesome. i had to finish it, even though I was stuffed. It was worth it! I was so enchanted, I looked up a Greek chicken recipe online. Even then, I’m not sure it could compare with their Greek Chicken Goodness. My date had a gyro, also awesome. it is unfortunate and amazing at the same time, that this café seems to be the anchor in a dead shopping center. If a small place like this can survive in a shopping center that is almost empty, then they must have something completely wonderful. The portion size for the price was also great. Highly recommend for some great Greek food!

This place was excellent! They took in my wife and I nearly before closing(at around 8:10 p. m) and instead of giving us attitude or being upset, they were all very happy and provided excellent service! The Mediterranean Chicken Gyro was fantastic and so were the fries… My wife had the Chicken Soulvaki(spelling?) and it tasted awesome as well! If you come here you absolutely must try the $ 2.99 side dish of grilled zucchini and squash with bell peppers and oregano… If you are in the Altamonte Springs /Longwood /Casselbury area of Orlando, you would be remiss to not come and eat here. It’s easily the best Greek food I’ve had in Orlando so far! They just started doing breakfast according to the patrons so I will be back to try their breakfast one of these weekends!

The best Greek cuisine in Metro Orlando and the best I’ve had anywhere for that matter. Friendly and prompt service. Anything on the menu is good but, of course, you have to try their Baklava. Every bite is unforgettable — no hyperbole!!!

3 stars purely for nostalgia. I used to have a boyfriend that worked here and he used to bring home food from Athena for me. I like the lamb gyro. It’s nothing spectacular but I’ve never had a bad one. Unfortunately I don’t think they use the revolving machine where they shave off the meat onto the pita. That would it up. My favorite has always been the spanikopita. I love it when phyllo dough is used, so buttery and flakey. It goes so well with their tzaziki sauce. But their rice pudding has changed. It used to be yellow and creamy and super yummy both hot or cold. This time the colors changed and the rice was al dente and they sprinkled a ton of cinnamon on top. I was a little disappointed because the rice pudding used to be so good. Overall, it’s good tasting Greek food, nothing spectacular but better than any other fast food joint.

My girlfriend and I have been on a gyro kick lately and when I saw a voucher for this place on Living Social, I decided to get it and try this place out on a Sunday for lunch. First Impression: Looks like a whole-in-the-wall diner that senior citizens seem to like for a Sunday breakfast/lunch. Seriously, my girlfriend and I were the only people under 50 in the place. Food: We both ordered the traditional gyro and«upgraded» our side from the potato salad to fries(as was recommended by other Unilocalers). The gyros were decent, but no where near as good as a couple of other places in Orlando(Mediterranean Blue FTW!). The fries were just fries. Really nothing special about them and not even sure if they’re worth the $ 1 to upgrade. We also have a slice of the baklava. It’s pretty decent… you can compare it to baklava from most other places. Service: The wait staff was nice, but the food took a really long time(more than 30 min) to come out and it wasn’t even that busy. All in all, not a place I’d particularly return to, or recommend to my friends.

Athena Café is located in the same plaza were Circuit City use to be and many other business that have no lasted in this plaza except for Party city. The food is good and not to expensive for what you get. The staff is friendly but when I wen the lady that served us seem to be in a hurry and I felt like I was pushed to sit down and order right away. The food was not bad and I give this place credit for that. There menu has has plenty to offer and now they expanded there hours, when I went during lunch time or so the place was not packed but it did have some people in it eating. I would come back here again, I am not surprised this place has been here for so long there food is much better then other business that have opened in this plaza. I gave it four stars for the food being good and quick in coming out but the taste overall did not make me want to say«I will be back soon» but I will be back here to give it as second chance one day. Oh and they also sell cookies there in the counter, so grab some they are good.

I’ve had the opportunity to go back to Athena Café, and I must say that I still love their lunch offerings. The #1 lunch for me and the others in my office is the Mediterranean Chicken Pita. It is really, really good. I also love their Roast Chicken Greek Salad(it is a very large salad), and their Chicken with Vegetables(and rice). Pricing is very reasonable for lunch and dinner too. Also, if you like Baklava, they have a good version here. One caveat is that you may have mediocre service their. I personally have had good service but have heard from other friends that it is hit or miss with the service.

Oh Geez, what happened? We went in today, excited because our past experience had been so great and I swear that we walked into a totally different restaurant. The waitress was just rude and… no that’s it. she was rude, and acted like she had better things to do than tend to us. I went with my mom and she ordered the rotisserie chicken meal which you will notice is advertised all over the place so we both thought that it would be amazing greek chicken except that when it got to her table along with her side of rice, she stared at it for a really long time before looking up at me in fear. This thing looked like it had been cooked last week, stuck in the fridge and then microwaved when she placed the order, and actually, that’s exactly what it tasted like too since she let me try it. It was dry, and absolutely horrible. The rice was like this blob of. I don’t even know what, but neither one of us dared to eat more than a spoonful of it. Still, I ordered the usual rueben with my fries and that never fails to be absolutely delicious which is why I didn’t just put one star. I don’t know what happened, but I think it will be a long while before I come back here; totally disappointed second time around.

When I first walked into this place I thought it was more of a Coney Island type establishment, price wise, yes, but that’s where the comparisons stop. The food was great, large portions and very fulfilling. I had the all white meat gyro(i forgot the fancy menu name) with a side of their potato salad. I would definately opt out for fries next time. Service was excellent despite the fact that the place was packed, we were waited on hand and foot. Never had to look around for the waitress, our beverages were promptly refilled, our order promptly taken and served. This is the perfect place to grab a quick lunch during the workday. Will be back again soon.

Went here for the first time yesterday, it was extremely busy! Was still able to find a place to sit. Ordered the steak and cheese pita. It was shredded steak, American cheese, onions, mushrooms topped with lettuce and tomato. It was very messy but delish! It also came with side of Greek potato salad. I’m not big on potato salad but it was OK. I was offered a choice of sides, should have gone with the fries. The establishment itself was a little run down, but that didn’t seem to bother the crowd that was in there. For the amount of people packed into this place the service was quick! Definitely impressed by the time we placed the order until the time we received our food. Would love to try their breakfasts one day. Saturdays breakfast is served until 2pm. :-)

While I’ve never actually eaten in this establishment, my office ordered take out one day and I wasn’t disappointed! I ordered the Mediterranean Chicken Gyro which had the perfect amount of feta, spinach, mushrooms, and chicken. I also decided to order the grape leaves(from the appetizer section) and was glad to find that it wasn’t made of entirely all rice or all meet, but a great mixture of both. My next visit will have to include an order of spinach pie, fo sho! It sounded yummy!
