Enchiladas n chicken soft tacos are also great! Still haven’t found anything that compares to Detroit mexican food

We went to San Jose’s recently and had a great dinner. My review hasn’t changed much as the food and service was as good as it ever was; I can’t recall ever having a terrible dinner here. However this is not the first time I’ve noticed the receipts you get at the end of the delicious meal. You know the ones which have the«recommended tips» at the bottom? My wife noticed, yet again, that their percentages are off. We verified that they were all off by exactly one dollar. I’m not one to complain about this sort of thing but we brought it up with the management previously and they said they would look in to it. I’m usually giving 18% or 20% already for good service but this rubs me the wrong way. Why then do they feel a need to be dishonest? I used to waiter and I would get crappy tips sometimes for lousy people but it balanced out when you got those people who gave great tips. Usually people left an average tip and it was always enough to raise my hourly wage enough to make a living while going to school. I just do not think that it is needed to be dishonest, even if it is for one extra dollar.

We went to San Jose’s for the first time last night. It has been highly recommended by friends so we thought we’d try it. We made a 7:30 reservation and went with the couple that loved it so much. The drinks at the bar were good and service there was fast. The table was an entirely different story. The waitress took forever to get to us, our initial drinks took far too long and waiting in between drinks was an eternity. It took almost an hour to get our food and when it did arrive, one order was from the child’s menu when the person ordering it CLEARLY had an adult menu in their hand when the order was placed. When we asked that the correct order be brought out the waitress actually asked if we wanted it «now». The food that did come out and was correct was cold. I ordered fajitas. The plate was cold when it is supposed to come out sizzling, the rice and beans were cold as well. It wasn’t just mine. everyone’s was cold. And cold Mexican food is just gross. Re-fried beans cold? No thank you. The couple that we were with were just as shocked as we were. They did however point out they had only ever been there during the week and this was the first time they had come on a weekend. When we left, we saw a very large party seated outside and quickly realized THAT was the reason for the poor experience. However, having worked in the service industry that is no excuse for poor service and cold food. If reservations were required for 8, I assume reservations were required for that party as well and management should have planned accordingly and our server was not working that party so she had no excuse. The bill was $ 90 for four of us and for that money I’ll go to La Fonda in Longwood. They have great, HOT food and excellent service. Oh and they were less expensive for a much better experience.

This is probably the most authentic Mexican restaurant you can find in Orlando. Coming from San Diego, I’ve been looking for a real Mexican food fix and this place came closest to meeting that. As you get seated they give you a bowl of their house made chips and salsa. It came out fresh and hot. I ordered a horchata(cinnamon rice drink). For $ 4 it seemed quite pricey but it came in a pretty big amount. Then I ordered their fish tacos. They came how they should be in soft tortillas, cilantro, and onion. Also it came with sour cream, tomatoes, guacamole, and hot sauce on the side. I was very pleased with the food and service here and will definitely come back.

Great atmosphere with great food and excellent service. Best Mexican food in Altamonte Springs AND I love their sweet tea; it’s worthy enough for a Southern Girl to ask for one to go.

My husband and I have been here twice(lunch and dinner) and have had great experiences both times. The service was outstanding, our waitress was attentive, helpful and sweet. I had the veggie chimichanga and it was excellent! Full of a variety of vegetables, beans and cheese, cooked to perfection and served with rice and a guacamole salad– everything was delicious. It was so good for dinner I had the lunch version when we came back! My husband had the chicken chilequiles, served with beans, rice and guacamole salad– he was impressed. For lunch he had the huevos rancheros and he added carne asada served with rice, beans, avocado and tortillas. The steak was so tender he barely needed a knife, and that overall it was excellent. Now the flan, wow. I’m picky about flan, I would normally prefer to make it at home but after the waitress highly suggested it we have in and we’re so glad we did. It was fantastic just like everything else, perfect consistency and seasoned just right. Compared to other Mexican places in the area(I’m looking at you Habaneros, Garibaldi and Amigos) this place knocks it out of the park. We will be regulars for sure!

Excellent Mexican restaurant! Full of flavor, a great price, and very good service. My wife and I love going here! The salsa and queso is the best and the burritos are huge! I recommend the California Burrito which comes with queso dip all over it, so good. Mondays they have $ 9.99 fajitas which are very good as well. We look for a good Mexican restaurant in the Orlando area for awhile and finally found this hidden gem.

This place was fantastic! Great, speedy service. Chips and fresh herby homemade salsa for free! We got the California burrito and the two enchilada lunch plate. Great portion sizes, especially for the price! All ingredients were well seasoned with great flavor. Good atmosphere and music! Bottom line: go eat here, don’t believe any of the bad reviews!

We were craving Mexican for lunch and found this gem! Terrific food, great service! I was impressed with the freshness of all the garnish, the beef tinga was perfect, and the beer was ice cold! We have to come back to try some other specialties.

Best Mexican food in central Florida. We had the pollo con mole and the tacos Chicago with the Mexican flag salad. Fresh and delicious. We’ll definitely be back.

I don’t really understand why this place tends to draw less crowds than most of the other inferior Mexican places around town. The food has been very good every time I have been here and the prices are very reasonable. The margaritas are very good as well. The bar is a little slow so order your next round before your first round is finished! I did not experience the poor service that other reviewers have mentioned, they have always been very prompt and friendly.

It was just ok to be honest. The chicken fajita was over cooked, the margarita had orange juice but it taste like it was from the bar gun or the cheapest one from Sysco.

We love this place! I usually order the Carnitas platter. It’s always tender and great! They even cut the chucks smaller for my husband one time, because he likes the crunchy parts! But last time we went I had the«Naked California burrito»(no tortilla). It was delicious! My husband ordered with tortilla, and yummy as well! They also have great organic margaritas! Big! Yummy! I think it’s $ 12.95, but, trust me, one is plenty! Very friendly wait staff. Happy to see how busy they have become! Also, the ambience has a nice Mexican flair! We are from Dallas originally and it’s been hard to replace our Tex-mex. and thanks to San Jose, we can survive!

If you want authentic Mexican food, this is the place to go. They have great lunch and dinner specials, if you are on a budget. You can feed the whole family without breaking the bank. I love their chips and fresh salsa, they give you as you wait for your food. Their enchiladas are to die for. Their homemade hot sauce is amazing too

Great authentic Mexican! Can’t believe some of the reviews here. Guess some Americans prefer americanized Mexico, so not for you. But for me the best Mexican in central Florida Clean, great friendly service, chips and salsa made on premises must try to hotter version. Vegan options to boot. A home run and BTW bar with authentic liquors and drinks!

Decent little local Mexican place for a quick meal. They had a section on their menu that showed their vegetarian dishes, which I always appreciate. I opted for the veggie fajitas and I enjoyed the assortment(sizzling veggies, refried beans, rice, lettuce, a dollop of guac) that came along with this dish although the carrots and yellow squash seemed a little odd to be in the mix. Everything seemed fresh and properly prepared.

Tried this on recommendation from a relative on a Friday night. Place is cute, nice atmosphere with some patio seating as well. Service was a little slow I must say, but they had several large parties and the waiter fore warned us when we were seated that the kitchen could take longer. Good drink prices, we enjoyed the 2 for 1 Margaritas… A good deal at around 6 bucks! Ordered some yummy queso(white cheese) with the very fresh and warm chips they bring. I had the enchiladas… O.k. I’m a big enchilada person. On a scale if 1 – 10 ten being the best I’d give these a 6.5…better than average. The red sauce was a little think for my taste and didn’t cover the enchiladas enough. I tried the chicken and ground beef. I’d order them again. I also tried my sisters enchiladas… Hers a cheese enchilada they cover with bits of steak… yummy. A good value, I’d def try here again!
