I find Hannafords Alton Bay to be clean, courteous, well signed and extremely well stocked. Fresh bakery, big cheese sel. Cooked chickens and prepared sandwiches and quiches and pizzas. I even bought some Sushi grade tuna for my visitors ! I didn’t expect them to have THAT ! Fine deli(Crystal is the all time greatest employee and James will walk you to your request with courteousy) An endless dairy section. Groceries are Full. Full selection of fruits & vegs. Plenty of Heavy discounts weekly ! I don’t know how they provide such a full store for a basically slightly populated area without spoilage and having looses. The employees they select are genuinely nice folks. As a business owner I say that the management here is superb. I shop here weekly and once in awhile I go to the Ossippe store which I enjoy, almost as s much.

Hannaford has a great selection of produce, cheese, bread, flowers, prepared items and everything else you could possibly need. Sure it’s smaller than some of the other Hannaford stores around, but so much bigger than the little markets. They have a pharmacy too and the people that work there are always nice. I usually end up chatting away with whoever is ringing up my groceries. I was so happy when I heard a Hannaford was coming to town even though I had already moved away to Cali. I was so over driving to the next town to go to a large grocery store when visiting my family or trying to find what I needed on the dusty shelves of the smaller markets in town. I’m pretty sure I’ll be back on my next visit!

When on vacation, one of the last places you feel like spending your time in is another cookie cutter grocery store. But considering how much my family and I like to eat while spending time at the lake house, a few trips are necessary. Not to worry as this is generally a fairly pleasant experience. Firstly, the store is not very crowded. Maybe its the people enjoying the sun and lake, maybe its that I am used to Boston. Either way, strolling through the unfamiliar aisles with a grocery cart and a varied list was not an issue. Secondly, there is a pretty decent variety. Produce, cheeses, deli, alcoholic beverages(!), desserts, chips, drinks. Small town does not translate to small selection. Lastly, the people are friendly. The cashier engaged my mother and I in friendly conversation WITH eye contact. Wow. The bagger didn’t squash our produce and was also polite and efficient. Out in the parking lot, I returned our cart to the employee collecting them who was so friendly and seemingly happy that I didn’t even make a snarky comment about his hideous mullet to my mother once in the car. From now on, whenever I think of that Hannaford I will see the cart guy. Hopping on rolling carts through the parking lot, smile on face while the breeze tousles his mullet. Magical.
