A first high school dance… a memory to be honored with a photograph as a treasured momento. This is the expectation when being photographed by a professional photography studio chosen by the school to provide this service to students. This however is not what we received from Elder Photography. Instead my daughter was treated poorly by the photographer, made to feel uncomfortable and embarrassed. My daughter and her girlfriend were prohibited to pose as a couple and then the studio went so far as to edit the final copy of the photo to remove the arm of one of the girls from the other’s shoulders. The end result of which created a horrible photograph with one of the girls appearing to have a stub for an arm and the other to have a chunk of her shoulder missing. Elder Photography is a self-proclaimed«Christian based company» with a promise of «wholesome» photos. This however does not give them the right to discriminate against a same sex couple by refusing to photograph them as a couple and then mutilating the photo to adhere to the studio’s own belief system, resulting in the humiliation of my daughter. I do not recommend this studio to anyone looking to provide photography services for school dances or any other occasion where the beliefs of the people being photographed may differ from the beliefs of the studio because this will result in the embarrassment and humiliation of the subjects being photographed.
