I had forgotten that I had tried Taco John’s before. I thought the one I reviewed in Nebraska was the first time for me. I am a big fan of Taco Time, which is unique to the Pacific Northwest. Thus, like I did on the Taco Johns in Nebraska, I will do a comparison to Taco Time. At this location, I ordered their 3 tacos for $ 5 special. I will get to that in a minute. Taco Burgers: Based on my review of the Nebraska location and my previous review of THIS location, I have to say that I prefer the Taco Burgers of Taco Time(Pacific Northwest). I like the«loose meat» with 1000 Island Dressing(Taco Time) as opposed to the«sort of coney island» sauce that Taco Johns uses in theirs. Menu: Taco Time(Pacific Northwest) has these WONDERFUL enchilada platters that are just as good as anything you would get in a regular Mexican restaurant. Taco Johns does not appear to have that on their menu. Sauces: Taco Time(Pacific Northwest) just gives you sauce in a packet(I think… been awhile…) and doesn’t have them on a tray for you to take from. Taco Johns has five different sauces you can get and put on your food. The green sauce is a KILLER! If you don’t want your mouth lit up, don’t get the green sauce. Ok, now for the three tacos for $ 5 I ordered at this location: WONDERFUL! Tasted very fresh! I got the chicken version. They came in soft taco shells, which surprised me. The three were adequate sized for the $ 5. I got the Combo which is $ 7 and some change. The combo comes with a drink and a side. I got the salad(which was lettuce, tomatoes and shredded cheese) as a side. The salad was generous sized, not large, but more than a couple bites. Let’s just say, between the three tacos and the salad, I couldn’t eat it all. Ok, not a big fan of their taco burgers, but their other menu items are pretty decent. Between the Taco Time in Pacific Northwest and Taco Johns, not sure which I like better in food quality other than the Taco Burgers, hands down it’s Taco Time. And Taco Johns is much better than the national chain with the Chihuahua. I had a 15% off coupon, it was a special coupon negotiated by a fine establishment nearby that hires seasonal workers(of which I am one). I walked here from a nearby campground. No good place to park an RV unless you park at Perkins across the street and walk over…

All Taco Johns taste the same to me and provide the same service. I have not had Taco Johns until I came to Iowa. They, to me, are a better version of Taco Bell. Their food is a lot more flavorful and fulfilling. They also have potato oles which are very well seasoned hash brown pieces. They are also usually cleaner and well-operated compared to Taco Bell. If I am in a mood for fast food taco/burritos, I will come here.

I used to love Taco Johns growing up, but this last visit was gross. Way too much«goop» mixed in with the taco meat.

One of the best Taco John’s I’ve been to. Beans are really really good.

Good tacos, but took 15 minutes in the drive thru!
