I would give it one star but I’m hoping everyone just ordered wrong. And the lobster roll looked ok though it couldn’t have been more meager and unceremoniously plated(appetizer sized) with cole slaw from a can. Suffice to say don’t come here to eat. I’ve had better food @ the gas station.

This is a tough one. The service was great, but the food was laughable. We just moved here from Boston and stopped for dinner as we drove out to Montauk to take a look. Being so close to the shore, we expected fresh seafood. We ordered the lobster roll, which was decent, some hotdogs for the kids, pretty standard no complaints, a fried shrimp adult entrée, and a fried while belly clams entrée. The fried food was the issue here. The shrimp was undoubtedly frozen. You pay $ 15 for 8 pre battered frozen shrimp you can buy at the grocery store for $ 4. The clams were even worse. Mushy, fishy. If they weren’t prebattered and frozen I’d say they were very very old and unfresh. We drove away from there astonished that we spent $ 100 on practically nothing but frozen food. Severely disappointed.

Today was my second visit. We came here last fall. I love raw clams!!! However, for obvious reasons, we won’t eat them everywhere. Now we found another place. Today we had 2 dozen clams, 14 dollars a dozen… Cold, fresh, tasty… We also ordered a bowl and cup of Manhattan clam chowder. Hit the spot. Lastly, we ordered two local beers. Lunch came out to 70 dollars with tax and tip. Getaway vacation lunch. So relaxing… Tuesday afternoon. June… I know it gets super busy in the summer. Not sure what it’s like. The servers are friendly, sweet and efficient. Great music!!!

Really, really, really loved the lobster roll here. They fill the soft bun to the brim with big chunks of fresh lobster. It was a bit pricey at $ 25, but I actually thought it was worth it. Fries were meh. They overcharged us with $ 30 a roll, but fixed it quickly and the staff is pretty friendly. I would definitely go back. Makes a good last minute lunch on your way out of Montauk since it’s located on the side of the highway. Cash only.

Clam chowder, fish sandwiches, they have all the classic clam bar staples. Usually sit and eat the bar. Food is usually good and so is service. Fish sandwich has tempura breading.

Stopped in because the Lobster Roll was closed and we were really looking forward to a lobster roll. My wife and I ordered a lobster roll and a fried soft shell sandwich. We had never tried soft shell crab and always wanted to. The lobster was just ok, had a few shells. The crab looked good but was just not our thing, nothing to do with this restaurant though. Service was attentive and friendly. Prices were average for the area and menu. Don’t think I’d return, too many other choices in the area.

Major rip-off! Totally over-the-top and arrogant people, Food is marginal. You are better off at the Lobster Roll or at Bostwick’s Chowder House in Amagansett… Too bad. they could have been a contender.

I love this place! We come at least once a week when they are open. Don’t miss the steamers, lobsters, lobster roll or spicy crab and corn chowder! It’s all outdoors, great for groups, fun music, great wine and beer selections. It’s cash only but the provide an ATM. I love their rule about children remaining sitting at all times – it’s effect. Two things that annoy me a bit. They make you give your whole order at once. The reason I do t like to do that is that I want to finish appetizers before the second round and hey are ALWAYS bringing food when you still have the apps. Makes me crazy and feels like they’re trying to rush you out. Also, they have a no dog policy. Seems silly in the setting. Same rule should apply to dogs as kids. As long as they are sitting and quiet, they are welcome!

We ordered the crab cakes, lobster roll and the spicy crab corn chowder. Everything was delicious. My kids were Mmmm-ing with every bite. Portions are small for the price. Cute place to stop and eat. Unfortunately it was chilly when we stopped by.

This place begs you to stop! If you are this far out on Long Island you are there to take on the culture so why not! I had the Fresh Montauk Oysters and a cold bottle of Corona. The oysters were amazing and the $ 13.25 for a half dozen didn’t bother me that much, but $ 7 for a bottle of Corona was a bit high for a clam stand on the highway! Plus, it’s cash only!

So good. SOGOOD. lobster rolls and fresh oysters are my thang in the summer and for my husband(who also had a cup of clam chowder, which was delicious) and I’s yearly end of the year, end of the island trip, this place is being added to that tradition. It’s only right. My mouth is watering in the dead of winter as I patiently wait for the summer to roll around again!

They know clams, chowder, fries, beer… the crowds roll in on summer weekends. Mid week or just off season its great to bring chowder while heading back.

I’ve been passing it for years and always wanted to try it out. Luckily two years ago I stopped by. It was good. It was quick and it was relatively cheap. A fine place for a rest with a laid back feeling. Not the greatest but, good. A good break, and a good lobster roll. Give it a try. Just don’t go during the off season, it’ll be closed and you’ll be a fool holding your clam in the breeze.

Unseasonably warm day for off season. They were one of the only games in town that were open. Out of many items(expected so late in the season) We both ordered the mussels. Huge portion. Service was excellent.

The oysters were good, but the beer was warm. I also think $ 3 for a corn on the cob was a bit insane. The food was a little sparse for the pricing, but it was definitely a cool outdoor place to hang for a moment after walking at the point for a few hours. We did leave hungry though and thus went to another place just down the road to eat. But hey, we were in the area, it sounded like a good idea at the time and it was a nice respid for a few minutes.

Clam Bar has been around for ages. Its a little place on the eastbound side of 27 heading to Montauk. Be aware it is cash only, but they do have an ATM. During the season parking can be a challenge — expect to park on the side of the road and walk a bit. Prices are high(its the Hamptons), and the food is just OK. I’ve had good service here — no complaints. They offer wine and beer, plus outdoor seating. A quick place to grab a lobster roll on the way by.

We didn’t think to sit and eat there. The ambience or drink selection didn’t appeal to us at all: few beers, three wines. But the idea was to take their food to go and eat at the hotel. They didn’t have either mahimahi or swordfish as written in the menu. So we took the lobster salad roll and wine ripened tomato stuffed with the lobster salad. As a result the lobster salad as they are so proud of discovered to be made from the frozen lobster meat, not fresh, it had no structure and was tasteless. And definitely too overpriced. For 21 $ or 24 $ you can order two freshest lobster rolls at Rhode Island or Cape Code at the same kind of place on the road, I’m not talking about Maine. And here, just because you’re in the Hamptons area– it will cost you a fortune but this place is not offering the freshest. And FYI it’s cash only. Parking along the road.

Per a suggestion of my daughter’s boyfriend, we stopped on our way out to Montauk. Am I glad we did. Yea, the price tag is steep for a sandwich — but hey… it’s lobsta! We both had the lobster roll and it was the best I had ever had. And the only other place I would order one is in Maine, but they beat them out! Pair it with a local sauvignon blanc… yum!
