as it’s got potential. weirdly, for years it has been hard for any restaurant to succeed in this cool roadside location.

I came here with high hopes, wanting to give my money to a local business but this experience was a major turn off. As some others have mentioned, when I got there around 6pm on a Tuesday the place was practically empty. They have a bar that wraps around the entirety of the restaurant and some seating near the parking area in front (where I sat). The music was mellow and not too loud.
I ordered at the bar and reviewed the menu before picking the short rib entrée. There are «known» for their bbq and ribs so I wanted to try something I that vein. Such a disappointment. It came out with a nice presentation on a wooden cutting board but as I slowly dived into the rib is was full of fat and not so much meat. The menu description said it came with garlic mashed potatoes, which were decent, and marinated beets. Potatoes, yes, beets nowhere to be found. Instead they had carrots in a heavy tomato sauce. The taste and feeling about the sauce is still up for debate. I wouldn’t have been so unset if the price for the meal was $ 25 plus tax.
Additionally the wait staff was friendly but really didn’t have to do much. The other thing that I completely abhor was ants! Yes, where I chose to sit (outside arwa with bar stools overlooking the hwy) there were ants attacking my plate which totally set me off. I had that issue in a summer rental this seaskn and the LAST thing I wanted to deal with…
Overall: conveniently located right off route 27/​Montauk Hwy but between the low quality food and high prices I’d say skip it.

Came here the other night with some friends and what a letdown! The place was empty, so we should have taken that as a sign, but we stayed and ordered a light dinner. The staff rotated between two people who helped us — one who spoke English and one that didnt (including not understanding the word «vegetarian»). Neither really was very attentive nor did they follow up to see how we were doing.
The Food:
Tuna tartar — okay, not memorable and tiny portion
Salmon special — zero flavor and looked like someone picked off our plate
Truffle fries — the only good thing we ate
Citrus Cole Slaw — tasted like it had gone bad
Normally I am the picky one of my friends, but we all left and everyone turned to me and said «hope you Unilocal about this».

Beef rib was excellent. I drove by the place twice before I decided to try it and thanks God I did. My wife had the oven baked salmon and my son had the Bernie’s burger and were awesome. I will be back again

While visiting New York this past week, my friend and I made a trip up to Montauk. While there we decided to eat at @ Bernies. Good choice because the food was delicious, the service was friendly and prompt and the prices decent. I had a burger, fries and calamari. My favorite was the truffle fries, I could eat basket after basket because they came out fresh and was seasonal well. Also if you do decided to eat here, you have to try the key lime pie which was delicious and I know because I tried to many being a Native Floridian. So I recommend this place if you enjoy a relaxed, casual atmosphere, good food, great service and a good time.

I’ve been here last weekend and I really enjoyed the place. It’s really huge. I’m considering having a birthday party there. Music, people, atmosphere in general and especially the food was awesome. The bbq pork ribs were one of the best that I had so far and also my friends loved the burgers there. I would recommend this place for everybody who’s on their way to Montauk or Amagansett. I think they’re gonna be packed during the summer so hurry up and try it before then.
