The beds are as hard as rocks! The hardest rocks you can imagine. No darkening shades on any Windows so the sun wakes you up early. When you pay top dollar for a hotel you expect comfort and everything to work and there was several broken outlets, remotes, lightbulbs out, etc and no one available to fix anything. To top it off the manager Harold doesn’t know anything about customer service and he treats his loyal guess poorly so we won’t be returning. It’s too bad because it’s a great location but it’s over priced and uncomfortable.

Staying in the Hamptons is not cheap… not cheap at all! Sea Crest on the Ocean was one of the more reasonable places — $ 175/night during summer. You def should rent a car as the inn is a bit of a drive to amagansett and/or montauk. Rooms were decent with bedroom, living room and kitchenette. Nothing spectacular but nothing to complain about either.

Sea Crest On the Ocean is about as close as possible to being on the ocean without soaking the guests in a cold Atlantic wave. Especially if you are staying in an ocean front unit, the walk on the sand dune to the beach will take less than two minutes. Otherwise, the walk isn’t exactly lengthy and you’ll be toe to sand within minutes. A series of two story buildings with condo owner controlled apartments, Sea Crest is one of a number of Dune Resorts company run resorts in this area. Driftwood is another right next door. Your mileage will vary regarding the interior of the units. We were in a 1.5 bedroom ocean front that was comfortable for our needs and included a kitchen area that was stocked with plates, glasses, utensils and more. A fridge, microwave and fairly old stove rounded out the kitchen amenities. For those staying for a long stretch, with lots of people, or desiring to save a buck or two, having the option to prepare your own breakfast is a plus.(Or lunch or dinner) The bed was comfortable but squeaky on the first night, as if a mouse were throwing a raucous party. This was magically fixed the next day. There’s a cleaning staff who will make your bed and tidy up so the apartment will never look trashed. The location is peaceful and very close to Hither Hills State Park. In fact, walking along the beach you’ll inevitably encounter a sign for the park. Also nearby is Cyril’s, a local watering hole and seafood shack that was packed with cars parking like Tetris blocks. If you don’t have a set of wheels(bike or car), the location is somewhat isolated. I’d recommend picking up provisions on the way in at the Amagansett IGA. Otherwise, the drive by car is about 10 minutes to Montauk or Amagansett where you’ll find plenty of places to eat. The management office called on Friday night to confirm that I was arriving, considering the abysmal weather. For the warmer, more pleasant days you’ll find a pool and tennis courts on site. The grilling enthusiast has access to several barbecues as well. During July and August there’s a 4 night minimum and rates nearly double.

If you don’t mind that the place is a bit outside of town and that shopping etc would require a 10 minute drive, then this is what you want. Recently renovated, nice staff, plenty of amenities, and a fantastic shoreline. I figure that with ocean weather and beach traffic it might be hard to keep rooms looking nice, but these were really impressive. Our room came with a kitchenette, so eating was easy. We just hit the grocery store on the way into town and loaded up. Montauk is maybe 10 – 15 min away, and Amagansett a little less than that. The prices climb in peak season, but check it out on the edges. It was really nice in June.
